It's tough for me to find that balance of not being so amped up that you rely too much on strength and gas yourself out, but not relax too much that your opponent starts whooping you. I also love what Jocko said about how it's OK to come compete and fail and how everyone still loves having done it. Lots to be learned from such a short video, and not when it comes to grappling technique.
I think one of the most important aspects of competing at a high level is realizing you aren’t the only one trying to be the best. Like Jocko said some people pass the test some fail but they’re all good and they’re all competitors who came to learn and make a name. With that in mind you have no reason to fear the unknown.
It's a really great lesson for really anything in life. You have a daunting task which you might fail at, but you learn something from it, don't regret trying, learn from it and go try it again. It's inspirational in that it helps to take the fear out of it. Makes me want to do something like that.
i appreciate jocko not overly celebrating after that win. the only joy greater than winning is seeing your own child win.

I respect that he had more criticism for how she won rather than over celebrating the overall victory. Keeping it humble!
