I think you are correct about Christine being uncomfortable and scared, that's why I think she insisted on these conversations being on camera at the end. So she had proof and he would at least try to behave or dampen down his hate and temper towards her. This was a brave thing to do.

My theory: Christine was "polygamy royalty." She carried herself with self-confidence and self-assurance. She was very well spoken, and would call Kody out when he didn't act in a way that was to her standards. She carried herself like a confident woman who knew her worth. I think Kody DID find her attractive. BUT, he felt he needed to "knock her down" several notches throughout their relationship because he felt like she was too good for him. And that triggered his insecurities and his need to bring her down all the time. But he DID like her, and that's why he was SOOOOO pissed when she finally left him!! Because he always knew that she was and SHE KNEW she was somebody!!!

Even though he found Robyn attractive, he never felt beneath her. The thing he loves most about Robyn seems to be her neediness. That's why he always felt like he was enough for her. Yet he clearly felt beneath Christine.

This hits real close to home with me. My brother committed suicide 21 years ago and similar to Robin my step monster refused to invite my brother to family events because he had a mood disorder. The Christmas before he took his life she never invited him to Christmas. There was no gift or card for me to bring to him. I gave birth to my son on Dec 21 and my Dad and step monster passed my brother on the way up and walked right by him without any acknowledgment. Robin has poisoned this family. I’ll say it and I’ll stand by it. She’s very malicious

I think Robyn was extremely jealous of Christine. Robyn couldn't stand how happy Christine was. How Christine was the hub of the family and Kody did love Christine. Robyn would say things in Kody's ears about Christine and implanting these little seeds. He would do anything to make Robyn happy and keep her in the sack. Robyn wanted Christine out from the start - This is why she didn't want Christine to watch her kids - Robyn knew the kids would love Christine too because she is a true loving person. This on top of the value issues in their religion .... Christine is better off without them.

I strongly believe that Kody was intimidated by Christine. She has a strong personality and he is an insecure man. I believe he martied her because of the fact that she was from a strong family and her pedigree. He then started to put her down and treated her like hell. When she decided to leave him, he felt like he had failed because he hadn’t reigned in a blue blood woman. In the end, she was stronger than him and he knew he had failed. I called that the Napoleon syndrome. A small insecure man who wasn’t able to “control” a strong blue blood woman.
How can Sobyn and her kids feel like they’ve been cast off Brown Family Island when she’s got Kody 24/7. It’s the entire OG family that was cast out, but she’s so narcissistic that she portrays the victim and can’t see the pain his children were in!
I think she sees the pain the other children have had/is suffering through, Robyn just doesn’t care. As long as Robyn gets to control her own kids, she’s happy. It’s so obvious that Robyn’s kids are unhappy, it shows on their faces and the older girls look like they are clinically depressed. It wouldn’t surprise me if all Robyn’s older kids are still living with her 5-10 years from now. She’s made her kids so dependent on her that I can’t see them ever getting away from her on their own. Kody May throw them out when the money dries up, but that’s the only way I see them leaving Kody and Robyn’s home.

Yes, it's obvious how angry and abusive Kody is on the show so I can only imagine how bad things can get behind closed doors. I've been watching Soloman and Auriella closely on past episodes. Sol looks scared shitless all the time. Like he's always waiting for the other shoe to drop. Auriella seems extremely angry and has to self soothe with a pacifier and she's school aged. It's very sad. And Robyn is just as abusive by keeping her children in that environment.

Even though the OG3 probably wouldn't admit it, I truly believe Kody has physically assaulted them at one time or another. So sad that they were so beaten down by his tactics they didn't know they had a voice. A key point made regarding Janelle being more sex savvy when she and Kody married made a world of difference in the way he treated Meri and Christine who were virginal waiting to be molded. It always amazes me that Kody thinks people will sympathize with him when he says he was doing his duty as a husband and holding her hand even though he wasn't in love with her. I don't think that would appeal to anyone. Yet Kody wants people to feel sorry for him for faking affection for so long and not getting a return on his money.

Yep. And that skill is honed by trying to survive long enough to find a way out. And at that table was the closest she’d ever been. Then that conversation outdoors with the other wives, she got quieter. Finally, “the good bye” conversation with Robyn and her kids…..she broke into tears of relief. The scenes after she drove away, the fear began to fall off. I felt that to my core.
I've always felt that she became quiet bc she knew one more ridiculous rant for filming contract and I'm getting the hell out. How many takes did the production company do just so Kody could get it right? She had the same look, imo, when Robyn did her purity speech and she had to sit through it.
When you're in an abusive relationship you learn to placate the abuser. You'll do and say anything they want to not get physically and/or verbally abused. The slightest sign of agression and you go into survival mode. When he had her at the table I saw the deer in the headlight look and knew she was scared of him and was saying and doing what he wanted to avoid his attack. I am happy the OG3 all got away from him.

This is so true. My ex narcissist has gotten more verbally abusive and manipulative as he ages. My adult children have all eventually found out for themselves and cut him out of their lives. My daughters are scared of running into him because he plays head games.
I'm glad christine got away from him and doesn't have to deal with him anymore.

Plus the stress from military service, the family moving constantly, his mom working two or more jobs to make ends meet, his dad never being around, alcohol abuse, not having learned healthy coping skills, a poor education from being home schooled, food scarcity as a child, etc…

@@GrannyDi276 I was blessed to have a father who dearly loved my mother. Never once did he raise his voice to her in anger that I was aware of. I'm thankful I didn't have to watch the abuse Kody's kids saw on TV.
Same with my mom she was beaten constantly by my biological father and once she left him she didn't take crap from anyone.
That clip when Kody is talking about the "user" has always given me the creeps. It felt like Kody let his mask fall and we actually saw just how unsafe he was to the family. Christine's quiet, submissive response was a huge indicator of HER fear of him. We saw an abused wife trying to placate her abusive partner so she could try to get away to safety.

I always felt that the denial of attraction to christine was because Robyn felt she was the only threat to her relationship with kody. Christine is not repulsive like he likes people to believe. It's a reassuring robyn she is number one. Even at the expense of christine & their children.
