When I first saw your plane, I had the same feeling that I did the first time that i saw my wife.....absolute love at first sight. This is a beautiful aircraft that would suit my mission perfectly. Forgive me for being covetous.
So happy to find this channel! Grew up in SoCal and love the Xcub from simulation, love to see it in action in such a beautiful area. Excited for more!
Great video and beautiful photography. I always wanted to fly to Catalina. I've taken my boat many times. We lived in San Diego then spent some time in Palm Springs and I joined the Experimental Aircraft Association in Thermal. Love the area.
Great video Steve! Been to Catalina many times sailing but never got to fly there (yet). I have been looking for a Carbon Cub Catalina flight for years and yours is the first I have seen (X-Cub). Glad you are getting about and enjoying yourself despite the virus!👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice, Steve. Thanks for taking us along. We ALMOST got to fly there in a Stinson 108 WAY back in 2000, but time wasn't on our side - so we missed the experience. I'm VERY pleased to see you wearing a life jacket (with Shark Repellent, if I'm not mistaken). Good on ya. Keep 'em coming. All the best, Your "NBC" co-star, GN
Thanks for this nice video, Mr. Young. Pictures like from the 757/767 cockpit window (including the glass cockpit) .... You have it for free ... (ok not completely free) ... in your ("lill United") XCub. To wearing a life vest is ever good for ETOPS (Engine Turns Or Pilot Swim). And this pure blue sky ... great ... in Germany we call this kind of weather "imperial weather" ( ... it doesn't happen often in the year). You have so many options to escape this ("FU* * * * * N inhibiting) Covid virus. Thanks again and stay healthy.
Steve, Did you makes this trip before in the Carbon Cub? I had asked you several years ago if you had considered this excursion? At the time you said you were planning on it. Is this that trip or did you make an unrecorded trip earlier? Perfect day for the flight. Were the buffalo burgers any good? Thanks for sharing. Gord
Love flying to Catalina for the weekend, been a few years.

Working on more videos- I too grew up in SoCal (Malibu). Thanks !
Enjoyed this video, and the music was a nice touch.
Awesome! That airplane is my dream. Fantastically beautiful flight.
Thank You Sir👍

Very nice! Good and soft approach and landing. Well done.
Thanks Sir 😎
Hope you’re still enjoying your flights😃

Yes I do have a life vest, but no shark repellent, rather an Automatically activating Strobe Light is what you're seeing.
I loved your video Steve. You don't want to come up short on 22 into Catalina. The weather there looked perfect.
Standard traffic pattern. Nothing special or fancy. Good "Pulsating" approach light glide path indicator there.
Great video as always Steve ! Retirement is going well I see!

0:25 It looks like its smiling.
I have to ask but why do you use a tri blade over the conventional double blade prop?
It just looks cool. Some say better climb, some say more quiet. I don’t think so, I just like the looks😁
Great video Steven, and gorgeous airplane! How do you like the CC393i ? Seems like an interesting project between Lycoming and CubCrafters!
I very much like the dual certified Electronic ignition, fuel injection , Hartzell composite prop and power. Seems like an overall good package.
Didn’t know the 3 blade was an option, looks great.

No, made this trip on 11/28/20. No earlier trips.

How long is that flight on the Xcub sir?
KTRM-KAVX is 130 miles. It was one hour. About 46 miles how we went from Dana Point to Avalon across the water.
