How fun for you! I don't own a blue box or very many older yellow boxes. I never knew about all the different RWS versions until I started watching videos like this one. Of course, that started my desire to find a few. It always seems like a crap shoot trying to identify them when I consider bidding on them on ebay. I need to do alot more research on how to identify them. Not long ago I got a Universal Books Ankh deck and I hope to find more older versions of the yellow box. Thanks so much for the comparison of your new deck! Hope you are safe and well!
Is that a "sun-burnt Magician" yellow box? (Also, yes, more walkthroughs of nearly identical decks, please. I am hear for all of that. Would watch all 78 cards ;) )
Once again, Brant, you (& Simon) are the only people who can make RWS so interesting to me :P I was never a fan of the original art but you have shown so many differences between one & another, Simon showed me the gorgeous Trippin Waite & Groovy Waite & now the one I need!! RW 2.0. Problem is, I don't know if that make cards place ships overseas, how much it would be, etc. There's 2 other decks I want very much from printing places too, I wish they would all just print them & sell them for us internationals ! Oops, selfish tangent there, I'm sorry. I thoroughly enjoyed this video, as I enjoy all of your videos. it is so relaxing listening to someone who really knows their subject =) x
Deb thanks so much! That’s such a lovely things to say! I do love to research and nothing is more exciting to me than finding the tiny details and changes in the RWS. All versions are really cool! The RWS 2.0 wasn’t on my list but the more I see it the more I want it too! Try reaching out to make playing cards.com and see if they could help you get the decks you want shipped to you! Can’t hurt to ask right?
Simon always packs his boxes with goodies! Always fun to compare. My blue box is the 3 Fitzroy Square, but without the ""In association with Waddington" line, and is not blushing. I love it! Its so papery and delicious. I love all your Rider videos. :) Thanks for sharing Brant!
ModernMetaphysicMan your deck is probably one of the very first printings. The blushing fool was a printing error that happened with the second print run (that’s what I’ve read anyway). So even more exciting for you!
Yes, on Camera, side by side here you can really see the difference, particularly with skin tones. I’m assuming now you’ve received the 4 of cups, by the fact you measured them? So relieved. I can’t wait for your deck to arrive. Oh and yes, I do trust you, both your knowledge and your friendship, and that’s why I didn’t hesitate in doing this trade with you my friend. This was so mutually beneficial for both of us. Thank you 🙏🏼 Oh the herb is sage!
The Hermit’s Cave I cant wait for your deck to arrive either! I’m surprised it’s taking this long. It’s got to be because of this virus. The last packages didn’t take this long!
Phoenix Rising thanks for taking the time to watch! I’m glad the color difference is apparent even on video. The subtle differences are so interesting to me
Slowly some of this information about all these different decks is starting to sink in....LOL. I appreciate the opportunity to hear and learn more about how these vintage decks are similar and/or different.😀
In as much as I never remember which details of which deck is which, or what to look for when I'm shopping for a vintage deck, I'm enough of a geek to really enjoy these miniscule differences. I only noticed a redder color in the skin tones on the blue box. I think I want to acquire a blushing fool simply because everybody talks about the tactile feel of them being so different. Otherwise, I think I'm happy with the 8 different RWS decks I have.
Toadstool Tarot I will say the decks that have no copyright on them are amazing to hold and feel. They don’t have to have a blushing fool to have that amazing feel though. Just a deck that doesn’t have a copyright will feel the same as the blushing fool. Well at least to me they do. I love getting lost in the tiny details and differences in all these decks.
Watching this seemed really close to what I was observing when I compared my USG yellow box LWB 1 with my USG yellow box LWB 7. The 7 isn't a blushing fool while the 1 is, but the big difference was the red balance. The LWB 1 had those richer skin tones and reds, and the purples were a bit more vibrant. Maybe AGM's red balance was a process?
Melissa Zupan I think the red balance was probably a process and I think it probably had to do with making the skin tones more accurate. I want a LWB 7!
Hi Brant! I guess you are the guy to ask.. I want to find a yellow box deck from like 1991.. Do you know what I would have to look for? I want to replace the deck I was forced to toss when I was a kid.. I think it’s a US games.. Probably nothing special. I just want to find the exact version or close to as possible
I reached out to Melissa Zupan who knows more about identifying 90s yellow boxes. She said she would send you pictures of the box you’re looking for! I’ll keep my eyes peeled and send you links to potential matches too!

Moon Baby Mary Charles just reached out to me and sent me a pic. I’m gonna start looking right away! Thank you Brant 😘
Moon Baby that would be amazing. Thanks again
