- Though Junior (Marcus Scribner) is often compared to his mother, his girlfriend Olivia said Junior has a lot of Dre (Anthony Anderson) in him as well -- which Junior can't believe (and even takes as a slight). Jack (Miles Brown) and Diane (Marsai Martin) tell Junior he's a lot more like his dad than he knows. Meanwhile, Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) challenges Dre to do more activities alone, and he is pretty terrible at it. From 'black-ish' season 7, episode 17, 'Move-In Ready.' There needs to be an episode where Junior just straight-up stops helping everyone there (except Rainbow because she don’t cap), and the house falls apart because he’s not handling what should be their responsibilities.

Haven't fully watched an episode of this in a while, but this is quite possibly my worst nightmare for Junior lol. At least he was called out and he's going to make an effort in the right direction( at least from the clip that I'm seeing).
I know Dre is meant to be funny, but let’s learn from men like our dads and do the opposite. Break the cycle when you have kids. Be kinder, affectionate and loving.
Yes I have been saying this for years like with parents beating their children that’s still physical abuse! And parents not being able to actually say ‘I am sorry’ to their children when they’ve hurt them, it’s either ‘I’m sorry you feel that way’ or ‘don’t let that bother you.’ Who who knows maybe if we actually break the cycle will create a whole new better generation of people.
I must live in bizzaro land, because I like watching clips of this show from time to time, but Dre is just the most insufferable character! I don't think he's funny at all. I have no idea why he's still written to be such a self-centered ass hat ALL of the time.

They are forcing the idea of Junior being anything like his dad. We have seen over 100 episodes of this show and in almost every single one Junior and his dad are in conflict. In fact, it is this conflict that usually jumpstarts the plot of each episode.
Junior and Dre have so little in common and very different personalties. I'm not saying they have nothing in common, but what they do share is negligible. I mean a plant a lizard are both green but they have way more that is is different than what is similar.
This one episode tries to trick you into thinking that Dre and Junior are really similar by making Junior act like Dre (which feels really out of character) but a single episodes of forcing Junior to act like Dre is not enough to convince me when I've seen over 100 episodes of Junior being the exact opposite of Dre. And for Olivia to try and say they are similar either means she's not very observant or that the writers have no idea who their characters are and how they are supposed to act.
Those other episodes aren’t canon. This is where the canon starts.
I was thinking the same thing! Junior takes after Bow and Dre takes after Ruby!😂😂 It felt a little forced to see Junior act like Dre!! I think that at some point the writers either change completely or they run out of good ideas so they just throw around a random episode. This happened with most American sitcoms that run for more than 6 seasons. It would be better to end the show after a few seasons.
If you watched the episode you would have seen the scene where Olivia admits that she said it to provoke Junior while they were apartment hunting because she knew it was a soft spot for him and didn’t like his attitude. She also said she has seen him and his father together and they’re not alike, though they have some similarities (normal for any parent/child in the same house).
This entire episode was very accurate (and all came together at its conclusion) and the “Jr and Dre are so alike”thing is obviously ridiculous which is why they did it.

I think the saddest thing about blackish is how they've consistently shown the lack of love between a father and his son. Dre is terrible almost emotionally abusive towards Junior and this has just been overlooked for years. If psychology has anything to say Junior should actually be a narcissist in his romantic relationships. All in all Kenya Barris is a colourist and reinforces negative stereotypes about the black male community.

Because, he wasn't clowning around during this particular scene, he was not using slang, he wasn't even dancing as though he was Acting as though he were trying to Connect with us, the viewing audience; like Drake, the rapper. Instead, Marcus Scriber's voice Fully grabbed the attention of my mind and emotions. Because, It is what seems So missing in today's actors - - Authenticity; even when one is Simply Acting! You keep on, keeping on being you AND learning from greats such as Mr. Anthony Anderson And Ms. Tracey Ellis Ross!

I never said the very fit looking Ellis Ross couldn't still CARRY a baby, just highly unlikely it was with her own egg. OTOH, I did think she was in her mid 50s, and apparently she's a bit younger than that, but still well past normal egg viability.
