Wow, it's rare to see someone react to Nick Drake so thank you for that. Beautiful music from an amazing musician with such a sad end to his life. 'Riverman' and 'Northern Sky' are lovely tracks too but my favourite is 'Three Hours'. Thanks for the reaction
I've recently discovered Nick Drake. I was so captivated, I spent the next few hours binge-listening to him when I should have been doing my housework! 😄 I just plopped down and let the music carry me away. A favorite of mine is 'Cello Song.
You keep listening to Nick Drake, and you will keep on getting those chills. Pretty apt description for a first listen. Pleasantly shocked to see this reaction and hoping for more from him.
I’ve loved Nicks music for a long time, haunting definitely. I’ve always thought his singing has a vulnerability to it..nice reaction, delve deeper, you will love it. I often introduce Nicks music to people with this one, but there is so much more.
Thanks for checking out Nick Drake. I’ve been a fan for a long time! You’ve hit the nail on the head with your reaction. It’s beautiful melancholy. His 3 albums are all masterpieces. Definitely check out more!
Great artist! He had a unique almost effortless talent and very chill relaxing voice. I think his overdose was probably accidental. Try "Northern Sky" from the same album
I agree with your description of Nick's voice. I absolutely love everything he has done. Somewhat simple music, but so beautiful, powerful and yes, haunting.
Definite winter vibes! First lyrics are A city freeze, get on your knees. Pray for warmth and green paper. I love that you didn’t pause the song once but waited til the end for commentary. I sometimes don’t mind if people pause the song provided they go back a few seconds but this is the kind of song that can cast a spell on you and it really shouldn’t be broken
Nick Drake was the brother of Gabrielle Drake an English actress. Sadly he died in his twenties from a drug overdose I believe, After which his music became more widely known. I think this is a really good track from his Bryter Layter album. Love the sax-Colin Ward
Great to see someone discovering Nick Drake. He only recorded 3 albums in his short lifetime, and was relatively unknown, but after his death garnered something of a cult following. He suffered from mental illness and sadly died due to an accidental overdose of antidepressants. Such a unique voice, and an outstanding lyricist and guitarist. River man and Pink Moon are among his must listen tracks.
Never heard of him or this song! It has a jazzy vibe to it! Pretty 😎😍 groovy song that puts me in a mellow mood! I have it now! His sound reminds me of the group, or duo DOUBLE singing Captain Of Her ❤️ Heart! It also has a Brazilian vibe to it! Later 🦘Kangaroos! And he does have a haunting voice! How 😼 ironic after 🎃 Halloween! Bye pumpkins!
His job is done, then. And you're right, it doesn't sound resolved, you're left dangling. I have to think that that is how *he* felt and part of why he created this. Considering how he personally ended, I wonder if he was able to express quite as much as he wanted to. I get the impression that he felt he had exhausted music as a way of working through things and found it wasn't quite enough. So unfortunate.
I think you nailed it. There is sadness there but he's trying to overcome it. And in that sense, there is hope. At least, that's how I interpret his work. BTW...He is an amazing guitar player. The album Pink Moon is simply him on an acoustic guitar, but both are so unique, the album is a masterpiece.
This is a top draw song! This is one of Nick Drake's best recordings! It has all you need in musical artistry.....
His song "Northern Sky" is one of the most beautiful ever written..highly recommend it
River Man, Time has told Me, Northern Sky, Saturday Sun, Poor Boy, Hazey Jane 1. All worthy songs by Mr Nick Drake

Great reaction. His voice is both haunting and soothing at the same time. You would enjoy "Riverman" and "Northern Sky".
Nick Drake. Dead at 26. Battled depression for a good portion of his life. Incredible music, tragic life.
You keep listening to Nick Drake, and you will keep on getting those chills. Pretty apt description for a first listen. Pleasantly shocked to see this reaction and hoping for more from him.

This is in my opinion one of the greatest songs ever written, such a shame he didn’t get his flowers until after his death
Love Nick Drake. 😊
Such a sad story, unknown in his lifetime, but ultimately influential and respected.
Great artist! He had a unique almost effortless talent and very chill relaxing voice. I think his overdose was probably accidental.

I've never heard of him or this song before, but I really liked it. Honestly, it gives me "Year of the Cat" vibes.
Both capture a certain sense of Englishness.
Exactly 😊
People who listen to Nick Drake for the first time often listen to more of his music, that's how I became a fan of his.
Awesome!! First time hearing this and I loved it!!
Pink Moon is how I know him, but this is nice too…
I liked this a lot. It reminds me of an Australian singer called Pete Murray, same tone and soothing voice. I loved it.
Great pick. He died young, but left some great music.
Thi is my favourite Nick Drake song. It perfectly captures the cramped loneliness you can find in a large city like London.

Love that you covered Nick Drake
Bryter Layter is one of the greatest ever albums.

You should try hazey jane i and the entirety of the bryter layter album next, Drakes music is beautiful.
As well as exploring more of Nick Drake you might want to try some Sandy Denny perhaps "Solo" or "John the Gun"
He wasn’t here long
"Riverman" .... similar ... so.... English
