On the slippery grip, remove and clean thoroughly to remove oil, spray inside grip and plier handle with cheap hairspray and re-assemble. Let dry overnite, should take care of it.
Atleast the jaws are made of non brittle metal. Most side cutters out there now have brittle cutting jaws where there will be gouges or indentations from cutting metal wire.
