She left her major label because of the commercial and artistic stifling that she endured not to mention the misogyny which is one of the central themes of this album... her taking back of her power and her voice. She got in that contract by winning Idol. The idea that another music competition was a viable choice for her personally simply doesn't wash. She made decisions based on other criteria. The album is in the Guardian's Top 50 of the year (too low I think but dance music is always graded on a curve downwards) the reviews are still coming in and they're overwhelmingly good. RUclips views are respectable but still growing although I find it suspicious sometimes how slowly they are going and how regular but we know they give different promotion to different artists based on how much they pay (or the label)... the fans are spectacular if here's any judgment. Wildly positive enthusiastic and new fans arriving on every wave. It's unknown in NA in terms of radio and television play. But disco hasn't made mainstream airwaves for decades. Clubs are closed or on hiatus so there's no real venue for her music here as there was and could be. For Europe this is much more something that you can expect on major radio in stores and bars cafes and small clubs are generally playing good music compared to NA. It has cemented her artistic relevance both as a record and with the video work. It's not revolutionary but it's damn near close. Jamiroquai's Automaton is the funk and techno edged sibling to this album in terms of production quality and overall artistic vision. I can't think of anything like it that takes disco revival history new wave and a bit of trance into this century and well. The next album should be the one that really pushes the envelope... but we need dancefloors. Magic Still Exists is an anthem to those lost utopias.

How it's possible she's not super famous worldwide, this album is close to the perfection, personally it's the best pop album of the decade for sure. The production behind this music has no second, her voice, the videos, I think it's just politic behind the fact she's not super famous
I'd say it's 80's shoulder pad top but late 70's fringe bead collar necklace with lamé disco miniskirt. The chords are very power 80's and the disco is mostly stabs runs and flourish samples except the bassline which slaps like the 70’s. The intro is a bit Eye of the Tiger (also 80's) but so far all three songs hit 70's 80's 90's surgically and seamlessly. Where we agree is that it is fabulous. She is too.
@@antagnesfan You're not wrong, there's either a direct sample, or a quoted flourish directly from Abba here (think it's Gimme Gimme Gimme like others do), and that's keeping with all the references in the lyrics of all three songs recently released, GaGa, Eurythmics, (almost) Europe, PSB/Frankie Valli, and others I have probably missed. There's no question that Pontare, Fakir and Carlsson reference/pay tribute to Abba directly in all three songs, along with Donna Summer/Giorgio Moroder/Patrick Cowley, Tom Moulton, and both Disco and Electro/New Wave, with stop offs in the 90's and 2000's too. I think it's fabulous music and really superbly done. If you don't know some of the artists mentioned, check them out, you should like them too. Also, Holy Ghost's Anxious, the Tom Moulton mix from a while back. But more importantly we have an album name, drop date (October 22) and partial tracklisting that I seem to have missed until now! Magic Still Exists. As a 50 year old gay man who lost most of his disco generation and 80's generation to HIV/AIDS, grew up dancing to all the music she references, and who had the worst time through this second plague, locked down for a punishing 355 days in a row, the longest on the planet, and utterly alone during the most of it, watching more people die, at one of my lowest points, she came up on my RUclips feed (I had never heard of her), really by magic and from the second the music started to play, I started to heal. I can't tell you how many times I played 24 hours in a row, and still do. Magic really does still exist, and she has proven it. Each song reinforces values and beleifs I hold dear, and the artistic and pop value of each track shine. This is what the world needs right now. I can't say it better than that.
She left her big label deal and the distribution and airtime that goes with it. I don't blame her, this wouldn't have gotten made otherwise and the album is brilliant but it dropped in mid pandemic and this is club music that needs club support and then there's the reduction in festivals, media appearances and placements along with the disruption of travel. This was all over Sweden. Her acoustic Circle Sessions broadcasts are a sublime pleasure and great marketing and show off the versatility of her material and voice. This album made top 50 and 100 lists and these tracks are timeless and will stand up years from now. I think it's important to judge on this criteria and be excited about the next album and the other projects to come.
This song is so good, I can't barely find words to describe it. Perfect mix of 70's disco, euro pop, ABBA, modern pop and dance. What will the dance floor remixes give us? Do we even need it...
So far no one is doing the music justice IMHO just like Eurythmics she doesn't need the remix although some extended and reworked versions I would love. Shep Pettibone would slay this. I should poke him to do it.
