@Justin Ward I agree, I think he plays well. Overall my comment was meant to be a compliment. I noticed I was being a bit too 'judgy' or too harsh, as I mentioned.
No one plays perfect all the time, and I'm glad that he posts hands that he plays suboptimally and/or losing hands/sessions as well. If we wanted perfect play all the time we would watch coaching vids and they wouldn't be nearly as fun.

The vlogs are getting better and better also nice haircut. You played most hands very well as well and thanks for adding your thought process behind certain moves you make while playing. I think this is why most viewers watch.
When you are talking pros and cons of poker rooms, could u add what the rake is in these places?

Rake is pretty high anywhere in SoCal.....don't think a dollar here and there gonna affect bottom line much, maybe $10-$20 depending how long you play.

Great vlog man, subbed! 3h2h is a fold preflop in the BB facing a large UTG open. UTG being a fishy straightforward player makes us even less incentivized to defend bad hands, as we will have very little fold equity whenever they have an overpair/connect with the flop (I'm sure you know better than I do about how little people like to fold at $1/$2).
We're applying a lot of pressure with a hand that makes a ton of sense to use as a bluff, but we should never be in this spot to begin with and this ends up looking like a pretty bad spew IMO.
AA vs 22: I like a small cbet on the flop (1/3 or 1/4 pot), I think this villain in particular is going to react poorly to a small size and spazz out. Down bet accomplishes a lot of good things here and is a useful tool to have in your arsenal.
Overall frustrating session, but these types of sessions can teach us alot about ourselves and make us better players in the long run.

Semi bluffing on A high boards seems futile especially when you get called. If you get the fold fine but once called you're usually going to have a hard time getting someone off their A holding.
Yeah especially with two hearts out there, the sort of player who's in there in the first place with the dominated aces that can/should fold is not going to have the discipline to lay down top pair.
Bet 1/3rd pot then, save some blinds doing that

On your hand with AhAd - I absolutely love your 3 bet sizing pre against a guy who hates to fold. Get this pot big and get his stack committed. On the flop I think it's fine to be checking only because we hold the A of hearts. If you held a combo that did not contain the A of hearts we definitely should be betting about 1/3rd pot. Having said that good job on checking that was definitely the superior play. On the turn you are right that we want to be betting but you size incorrectly. If we bet too big we may let this fish off the hook and we want to get his whole stack. He is still wayyyyyy behind us or wayyyyyy ahead of us and in these situations we want to be sizing down. You aren't scared of any river so the right size here is 1/3rd pot. Betting $50 when villain has about $250 behind is perfect. If villain calls pot is $250 with only $200 behind and we can easily get the rest on any river. What makes the sizing even better though is that villain may perceive your check flop, 1/3rd pot bet turn, as weakness and make a move. He can definitely think that raising $200 into the pot may make you fold and thus opens the door for him to make a mistake. I don't think most villains will feel the same way when you bet $100. When you bet $100 if villain moves in it's only $150 for you to win $350. I honestly can't see you folding any equity in that spot so you made a simple sizing mistake but at least you are betting and not checking. Having said that, when you make it $100 and villain moves in for $150 more. Your alarm bells should be going off for all the reasons I stated above. Villain is always strong here and you are definitely given the bad news when you see you are drawing dead to a K or A. I think when you bet $100 and he moves in villain always has K+x of hearts + and you can probably fold although it sucks. If you had bet $50 and he did this I would feel better about calling.

I think AQ on the K high board is going to make you so much money in the long run if you bet the turn. So many players at these stakes have 99-JJ here (also QQ sometimes). They will almost ALWAYS fold those holdings on the turn to a bet. If they call turn, it's an easy give up on the river because they likely have AK and are not ever folding. As played I think you can just fold river to that small bet even though it sucks. Just my thoughts.

Like the new look. Great blog, with honest options of room and play. The tables don't look bad, but agree the chairs are out dated. They look the chairs Harrah's put into service after they bought the WSOP.
You said it before, lower level cash players don't like folding if they have money in the pot, so you need to adjust your bet sizing some in relationship to the pot, or otherwise limit your risks and do some pot control. Your skills and reads are there, just need to adjust to the player pool.

Seems like your ranges are solid. Difficult part is bets sizing to get the max. Keep in mind V’s stack size

In that hand where your limper calls your 3-bet, yeah, you could bet the turn... I suppose. But I wouldn't necessarily. The nine is not a great card because somewhere between 10 and 20 percent of the time he's just spiked a boat given his range of mostly medium pairs, and also now if he's holding TT or JJ, the turn card doesn't hurt him or improve any of your likely holdings, and also if he has specifically 77 or 88, now he's picked up a gutshot so he certainly won't release on the turn. A jack, a 2, a 3, or a spade are probably better barrelling cards. So the way I might play it is to bet the flop and barrel some turns, but probably just give up on this specific turn.
Your table image is also a consideration. You have 3 combos of KK in your range, 6 of AA, and 12 of AK. So 21 value combos on this board. He probably assumes that if you had QQ or JJ or TT you would not turn your hand into a bluff, which leaves you with all of the AJ, AQ, Axs, KQo, whatever else you've decided to 3-bet during the session. If he's seen you showing down these kinds of hands in 3-bet pots, then your only chance of getting him to fold TT is to bet the flop LARGE, look anxious when the turn comes out, freeze for a second, then bomb that turn.
If you're going to triple or double-barrel this board in a 3-bet pot against a donkey, you need to bet the flop bigger, because $40 is giving a good price to the spade draws. When this guy has AK or AA or KK on that board, he's nearly potting it. He does not want to see a spade roll off on the turn. So your small bet looks weak to him.
All of that said, it's much better to double-barrel than it is to check the turn and call the river. He's not limp-calling $40 with air so he can float the flop and take it away from you on the river. Given this line you can definitely fold the river.

In regards to the A2 hand, I think you had the correct read, but the wrong reaction to it. You thought he was min raising to see a free turn+river card, which he was. Knowing that, you can put a huge weighting on him holding a drawing hand and not a made hand. You did correct by resisting flop, but you have to make him pay again on turn to chase his draw (since turn was a brick for draws)

For the $.17 comps, just be happy you get any at all. Some local rooms here don't give you anything. You can get what they call rake back, but essentially you play 50 hours that month they will give you $50 up to 75 hours, the 100 hours all they way up to the 150 hour cap for $150.

Hey Mariano, thank you for making your videos and the explanation with it. I live in the Netherlands and the rules are so different. It's ilegal to play poker almost everywhere (for money) except for 1 company (holland casino). And most of the locations offer poker once a week and very few tables (its not like you can play poker whenever you feel like it, only at specific days and you have to book your seat... ) so when i see your videos , i,m very jalous of all the locations and the freedom to play.
Question with the KK hand, you get a flop with 2 sixes ,are you not worried about someone having a 6?
Do you think you can consider raising the river in the AQoff hand over such a small bet? It seems like you had the read spot on and a lot of 1/3 players fold to a raise there. You can just tell they're almost always trying to get a cheap river at their own price even with their showdown value. Just a thought, keep up the awesome work bro 👍🏼👍🏼

If you play long enough ( unless you hit a couple of huge bad beats ) I promise the " fun " part will change !! Whether It be a real job , part time job or hobby It Is a super tough gig !!.....Let's just say I play some poker .....I saw 3 things for future Info ....You make the same mistake that many make of which when you are getting bad cards when just sitting down you get bored and played far to many hands ..... Mariano great vlog as usual. It's evident you have lots of experience in music production and editing...it's far better than most poker vlogs. Great work but don't over value small suited connectors versus nits in a $1/3 game...they're never folding an Ace after the board pairs on the turn. Love the aggression but on occasion it's much more profitable to take the passive low variance route especially at 1/3$ when most players don't know what they're doing and can't fold top pair...Bgood

Another solid blog, though as others have said I think the 23H hand is needlessly high variance. I mean you're putting money in when you're knowing you're likely behind, and especially when you mention this is a solid player, chances are they have A10 or above and will call off. Think you should be really playing the odds in that situation when you have not enough fold equity to make the play +EV.
Also fine with your AA hand. I had a similar situation with aces on a 10 10 7 board, but the run out was 9 K and a QJ hit. I no doubt should have betted but if you're only betting strong hands you're a bit face up, and sometimes the situation doesn't help sneaky play. It was £100 in pot pre, I bet £70 on the turn and called £120 on the river. Maybe I could have folded but the flush and more obvious straight missed, but a mistake. I think playing big pairs this way is higher variance actually, like if the board is A 7 2 you're golden, and personally I'd rather look for a cooler than pick up a small-mid sized pot. Obviously that doesn't always work...
As others have said, I would be interested to see rake / points as part of your +s/-s section.

Hey buddy, first of all we really need to know approximate effective stack sizes to comment appropriately on the hand. Having said that on your AQ off hand; your 3 bet pre is excellent and your continuation bet is also fine although i would have made it more like 60-70% pot with all of the possible draws or even higher like 85-90% depending on the villain. If villain will pay full or over pot with his draws then we always should be sizing up and that is also good for us when we are bluffing as we have all the Kx in our range. On the turn you are right when you say you make a mistake. This is a slam dunk double barrel. None of the draws complete and a 2nd barrel could even start to make a weak king scared. Villains range should contain 0 combos of strong Kx and will only occasionally contain the 6 combos of sets that are slow playing as most will raise off on such a draw heavy board. Your immediate assumption that villain has a PP I think is a mistake. While i agree villain may have some PPs that float his call is much more indicative of a draw as many PPs will just fold to a 3 bettors cbet on K high boards. This is where i really need to know what the effective stack is because that will strongly factor into how large we size our turn bet. Having said that I think in general we are going large. I think assuming stacks are appropriate that this is a great spot for an overbet like 1.1-1.25x. This should fold out every draw, every weak king, literally everything we may be worried about as a bluff. In kind this is also excellent when we hold AK and want to get max value. If villain calls this turn overbet then I think we can safely just check the river back or fold to any lead with our bluffs. If we choose to bet 70% pot or less on turn we are essentially committing to a river shove on all non draw completing cards. Hope this helps. Best of luck at the tables.

It's credit given to players for playing poker, to be spent in the casino (i.e.food)
Normally varies between $1-$3 per hour.
Great vlog as always Mariano. Don't be so hard on yourself - ~ -270 loss isn't exactly 'wrecked' considering some of the hands in this one. Even the greatest players have had many a night where they walked out of the casino wishing they had only lost that much.

On your J9s hand - Don't 3 bet this hand against the field out of position. So good job on just calling. You correctly check to the original bettor who should not be Cbetting air on this flop as it smacks all of the fields calling range. Calling if fine but we definitely should be concerned that the button has also called. When the turn J hits we SHOULD NOT LEAD - yes the board is extremely wet but both the original raiser and the button can have us beat. For that reason we should just be checking calling. On clean rivers we can lead and wet rivers we can check evaluate. When you lead the J turn and villain raises i think you are always beat. What worse hands does he have for value here I don't think any and we are beat. Well good luck I hope you learned a lot from this session and you do better in the future. Best of luck!

JTo is the 17th percentile of hands, so if we assume that's close to the bottom of this guy's shoving range (and maybe that's wrong), let's say he's shoving 1/5th of hands, so about twice per orbit. If so you can fold KQo. I say this because KQo only has 49% equity against that range, mostly because KQo is in bad shape against any pair and any ace. There are some limpers in the pot, and once you call this shove, one of them might have limped AKo because he doesn't know how to play it, in which case you're crushed. Doesn't have to happen very often to ruin your day. And you're getting raked. So the two limps in the case that they do fold is just paying for the rake-- it's not really adding any dead money to the pot.
So you're just flipping against this range, slightly behind, and blowing up your variance.

Well buddy on to your 23s hand. I agree with your original assessment that we can just be folding 23s in the BB but no one likes a nit so if you want to play go ahead. On the flop you correctly check to the raiser on Ax56h - When she bets this is a slam dunk call. *DO NOT RAISE* that ace smacks her range and you even acknowledged that she had been playing tight. In a spot like this we can play a very exploitable game. When have value like 55, 66, 56, A5, A6, we are putting in a raise and calling with all of our draws. We don't have to be balanced and she is never folding an A. If this is the case then there is absolutely no reason to be raising flop. If you are going to raise flop as a semi-bluff i think you should be choosing 78h, 47h, and maybe 34h as your ONLY bluffs. In my personal opinion i think your turn shove is really bad. The 6 on the turn just means you have even less combos of value and pushes you heavily into semi-bluffs. Now there is less sets, less 56, less A6 that you can have. So once again, when we find ourselves in this spot with a value hand like 55, 56, A6 in this spot we should be shoving and when we are drawing we should be checking. In general I think you are just getting a little out of line and putting yourself into high variance situations.
