- Emmy-nominated actor Chris Meloni and producer Lindsay Keys recently led a group of Lyme disease advocates on a trip to Capitol Hill to advocate for those suffering with “long Lyme”. Meloni is part of the Global Lyme Alliance, and he joins Morning Joe along with Keys to discuss their trip to D.C. and the documentary 'The Quiet Epidemic'.

Fun fact: The PACT Act, which President Biden signed into law in August 2022, is the most significant expansion of benefits and services for toxin-exposed veterans in over three decades. The the PACT Act aims to deliver timely benefits and services to veterans across all generations who have been impacted by toxic exposures during their military service.
Despite its overwhelming support amongst the American people, getting the PACT Act passed in Congress proved to be an uphill battle. Republicans in CongressLied repeatedly about the law and voted against it, before the pressure ramped up against them.
In a significant milestone for veterans' support, President Biden announced today that more than 1 million PACT Act-related claims have been granted. This achievement means that over 888,000 veterans and survivors in all 50 states and U.S. territories are now receiving new service-connected disability benefits.
President Biden touted the milestone during a speech before veterans in New Hampshire on Tuesday. “We can never fully thank you for all the sacrifices you’ve made,” Biden said to the veterans and their families. “In America, we leave no veteran behind. That’s our motto.”

One of my college professors had Lyme disease for over 35 years.
Lyme disease has been around for a very long time. It has only become more prevalent as humans keep infringing upon, thus shrinking, environs for wildlife. I was lucky. I caught it early. Fever and bull's eye rash. Many people are not as lucky as I was. The longer it stays in you untreated, the more harm it does.
