Paul Isaacs takes Nick Huston on a journey through the featureset of the new Scorpio Recorder. Most information on the Scorpio and pre-order here: www.gothamsoun...
SD comes out with a 8 channel 788t - all of a sudden I need 10 mics. SD comes out with a 12 ch SD664 - all of a sudden the job requires 14 mics. SD TRIPLES the ch count to 36....i think i'm gonna be pretty good! THANK YOU SD - my only concern is if the media will hold up to all of the tracks being recorded at once. Nothing to induce panic like media errors
He states "At the time, we will only be supporting the 4-in receivers"...the last time I looked, I thought Audio Limited was only a 2-channel rx. In the bag, with Audio Limited rx and a Scorpio, can one get 32 ch with 6 quad rx? I am hearing things, I'm sure.
How many people use dante for a location shoot? How many channel do we use maximum in a location shoot? Shoudnt there be at least 12 channel Usb conrtoller? Are the pre amps better than 688 recorder considering the price difference between them?
Dante is getting more and more common for cart based mixers for both narrative and reality. I think the Dante port adds future flexibility but is not a must. The 8 channel control surface is just the initial one the Scorpio will support. It has the capability to use different fader banks to be able to access more channels than the 8 physical faders it has. You can also get an add on that will give you an additional 8 physical faders.
From what Sound Devices says, these pre-amps are they best they have made. They should be better than the 688. More testing to be done when the Scorpio comes out!
Amazing. This really is a full featured audio console in a bag
Excellent video Nick, great to see this machine in action! The potential workflows and tech capability of this new production recorder is astounding!
This thing is simply amazing. Such a fully featured piece of gear!

I'll buy one once they'll support 32-bit recording. And NO not for the reason of worrying about clipping the audio.
Perfect for the kind of work I do..

I did a location shoot and had to record a band as well. 23 radio mics for talent and then another 16 mic channels for band.
@@Ballistic23 Is it already out. There may be very few occasions when any body uses this for live event
C'mon S.D! I wanted 8 A/D on this machine!
Much more than I’d ever need- and the “bloat” this will encourage on set will only slow things down. More technology doesn’t equal better movies.
Who wants my kidney?
kidneys are priceless, the time limit of the equipment is only till some new stuff comes in market
@@audiomax8770 So are you interested in the kidney or? I am also selling one, I am sure Sound Speed! will be up for making you a bundle.
@@mattiacellottoaudiolibraries got myself a Sound Devices 833 in the end, the 833 is great because I didn't need to sell a kidney for it!
