One of the most conscious, uplifting tracks of all time. Helped by the fact that Adeva is an unbelievable vocalist. She could sing the Shake-And-Vac theme and make it sound fucking amazing.
This should have millions of views. A huge club hit during the Summer of Love. And this was staple in Frankie Knuckles sets. RIP Frankie. The music scene is missing your soulful yet danceable sound. Also Paul Simpson has some great remixes and productions, although I've never heard him spin. AND ADEVA IS AN UNSUNG LEGEND!!
Adeva.....her best dance song !....we used to enjoy this in Kampala - Guild Canteen, Kololo Pool, Club Clouds, Tropical One10 in the nighties. Best period l can remember for my generation.
First heard this classic at Axis on Landsdowne Street during Summer of Love in Boston Massachusetts. Then Metro /Citi played it. Back when house music was soulful yet danceable and LOVE was the message
Fuck me peace and love days are long gone. All taking sniper shots at north south east or West. Who really gives a flying fuck where you are from or where you partied. Enjoy the music and bite your lips....like we used to do....lol...x
pau simspson was one of the camden palace dj's a regular guest there - along side chris paul - i was one of the guest dj's time to time and yes lee is right back when lenny mclean did the door - good friend of my ex girlfriends older brother - it was played on acetate well before graham park played it at hacienda - and yes in the uk house music was born in london - - first ever warehouse party was curtain road in old street 87 - danny rampling , fabio , tony wilson , ray lofaro and myself - people were climbing up the drainpipes to try and get in - the police did not know what to do about it and just stood there - p.s i'm still friends with penny's son jamie - although i haven't seen him in a couple of years
mervynvictor were from East Yorkshire ( Hull and used to travel all the way down to Camden on a Friday night .. four hour drive plus on a Friday .. amazing times
@doubleblue1878 free at last, free at last... thanks for the upload doubleblue, when I stumbled on this it did indeed bring back memories of a foggy sweaty adrenalin filled night at the hac
@uschusch6 I wasn't being snobbish, I was responding to the post by @ ancientraver19881989, who was claiming the track was not a Hacienda classic - it was. I'm cool and the gang with anyone liking the track, and I dare say that it was a 'classic' in many clubs worldwide. I went to the Hacienda, they played it there. Simples
I couldn’t go in 88 89 even though I am a Mancunian dBut I loved it so much. I think Flesh night was out of this world. It was wild. Probably like 88 or 89. Wowzer. I saw Adeva sing there last Feb in 94. I still love Haceinda music and always will.
I went to Hacienda once & was very disappointed, full of idiots .... Reminds me of Camden Palace & happy times no matter where I was....as long as it weren't up north!!
dances with brother ruben........yep the hac had it 86-88....than all the big haciender shoom heads moved 2 the dome.....and the rest is history ste williams n 808 state inspied jay weardon and look what be came of mr tech two underground techno n jungle hip houser with the house the banshee dome days and the hippodrome speaks for it self realy....the thunderdome n the konspiracy got big with the new beat wave-88.89 the haciender missed a lot of that...
@ ancientraver19881989..... It's quite simple mate. This tune was played alot at the Hacienda during the mental days of 88 -89 - therefore (and I'm sure that if you asked people who attended at this time they would tell you the same) this is a classic hacienda track...as it was at the Blackburn raves. Not really arsed what happened down south (Carl Cox/ Oakenfold = Bollox). Up north was where it was @
Agreed but you can't just write off the South/Londons contribution to the UK scene etc, all I know is that Brum's in the middle of Manc/London.. ...very different times of course now but it's music/vibes first for me everytime, as I'm sure it is for you too... Happy raving...
@doubleblue1878 Ha! Thats funny...and it doesn't surprose me at all! I saw a few weird things in the 'dome....shagging, crack pipes, there were even a couple of children in there one night! It wasnt Brian off Family Guy was it?
I'm going to go against the hacienda propaganda here...I went in Autumn 89 and it was no where near as good as the Thunderdome or Konspiracy. The hac was half full of Madchester band-wagoners...then again, I went on a saturday and me mates kept bangin on about how mad Nude was on a Friday...but once I got the Thunderdome bug.....the Hac had no chance. I can't speak for the Hac in 87-89...house music in the North started there and inspired Konspiracy and Thunderdome
So you've never actually been there yourself? Hmmm. I'm glad you base your Internet rantings on hearsay and not fact. Stay in ghetto London for all I care.
Still here in 2023 ❤❤❤❤
These days will never be lived again ❤

All the great DJ's were playing this a lot back then. Tony Humphries played it regularly on his KISS FM Mastermix show when it came out.

Was definitely a Camden Palace classic - back in the days when the late, great Lenny Mclean (R.I.P) worked the door....
