@@rsoul9551 I would say we made a few critical errors. That's a phrase I would happily use for QLD performance G2. Hands on hips looking at eatchother not knowing what happened 😳
I’m a blue and through, I noticed that Blues basically lacked everything. No heart in general No visible drive to actually cross the field No apparent game plan No apparent kick strategy Barely coordinated as a whole Definitely lacked origin spirit It was barely a performance you’d expect from a bottom 4 club team, let alone for origin. Whack as
Holmes in form for cowboys, Hunt best player for dragons, DCE best player for manly, Carrigan best forward for Brisbane. You need to watch club football, Queensland won because they done the 1% better than NSW. Saying QLD shouldn’t have won is ignorant of the knowledge state of origin. It’s always been the mistake of NSW saying QLD shouldn’t win. But keep winning, it’s rugby league a team sport if you do the simple things correct, a team beats a superstar .
I am a Qld supporter and even I didn't like our chances, on paper NSW should have swept us regardless of a Mitchell/ turboless team. Series wins 24 to Qld 16 to NSW
We won because NSW don’t get origin. Never have, never will. I’ll give you one example. Jack Wighton, built for origin, Blues best player in game I, missed game II with covid and left out for game III. The player he misses out to is Talaki, who plays 15 mins makes 4 errors and gets hooked. Gassed them defensively and conceded points. Game over. No loyalty, no respect for the jersey. They pick players that look a million bucks on the front foot and totally out of their depth when they’re not. After 40 odd years you’d think they’d work it out but they never do.
Capewell has played centre many time filling in over the years and gagai has played wing many times at club and for qld/australia, those positions are not unknown to them Capewell at centre has played plenty of football with cleary and the panther boys being an ex panther himself so he knew how to shut them down well. The media hype up NSW as favourites every year, even during the 8 in a row many betting companies has nsw as favourites ( somebody has been rigging betting markets for sure) But in reality Origin is very tight contest most games, most games decied by under 12 points sure there is the occasional blowout scoreline but most games are close. I dont think anyone realises how much of a loss latrell and tommy turbo are for NSW, who are game breaking freaks of nature, those guys are worth at least a try each. as soon as they were ruled out the game got alot closer, those 2 are like having 2 greg inglis's in your team at the same time. Crighton is a good player but hes not as good as other centres going around even accounting for latrell and turbo missing, staggs unlucky to get injured in game 1 then dropped BUT burton looked like he belonged in that arena in his 2 games and no doubt he is young enough to play origin at some point in the future, maybe in the halves or a utility bench role. So in game 3 Qld didnt have Kaufusi, Munster, cotter,Taulungi, and NSW didnt have Payne Haas, an absolute unit in the middle along with missing turbo and latrell. cobbo and collins were losses to qld but they covered the gaps really well, so the odds even themselves out Cam murray getting knocked down early i would argue was a bigger loss, the man has the fastest play of the ball in the comp, plays 80 minutes, hardly misses a tackle, footwork and speed etc, and if you watch the game kalyn pnga and cherry evens targeted that edge the edge he would of been at, very smart tactics Kaufusi missing and putting nanai there made qld look sharper in attack, kaufusi makes more tackles and is a better experienced defender but he is a penalty machine with 6 agains, so with out him qld didnt have a man binned like game 2 lol. Freddys selections throughout the series were very hot and cold, whereas slaters made logical sense Topou makes more metres than addo carr is faster and more agile and addo carr didnt deserve to be overlooked Dropping jakey turbo for game 1 was criminal so at least he brang hm back. wighton gets the rona so talakai gets game 2 spot, fair enough, but wighton comes back should have come straight back in for talakai all due respect as sifa. DCE is 33, in the last 3 or so years of his career and in peak form played many more grand finals, semi finals, origins, test matches than cleary who is only 24 ish and yet to play his best DCE outkicked him with early kicks and everytime nsw had the ball on halfway they dropped it, so many errors compounded the pressure NSW had superb defence to even stay in the game with 2 minutes the go, put people cleary for that game loss is ridicolous, it was just one of those games I just wish this time next year that both teams have their strongest 17s available with latrell, turbo, addo carr and payne haas for NSW and munster cotter and kalyn ready to go for another epic contest
@@alphakye the amount of crap out there since origin 3 of the peabrained argument of 'NSW dont get Origin QLD do' or ' cleary is overated and the new mitchel pearce and penrith is also overated' is pure crap and i fell like i need to rant all my talking points about it, QLD didnt 'want it more' they just played tactically better, kicked better, repeat sets, early kicks, less errors etc and due to players out from both teams and a few 'questionable' selections from nsw over 3 games the games were all 50/50 either way, If NSW didnt have pride and and passion qld would have put 40 on them with the possession they had but the kept trying Interesting series this one
Agree with all your points. But you need to add one more important point: "Blues stupid team selection" - this is the elephant in the room. The omission of Josh Addo-Carr, Campbell Gillard, and Clinton Gutherson was suicidal. Add to that the omission of dynamic "never-give-up" competition form players Mitchell Moses, Adam Reynolds and Payne Haas - it was a disgrace.
@@jest3167 thats a great point - the fact the freddy, with his great sportmanship, had the nerve to go and moan and complain to the officials and his wishes were granted quite obviously to any aussie (or not) who was watching the series
The difference between QLD and NSW mentality and attitude wise shone through a lot this series. By this I mean QLD were always quiet and kept heads down to focus on the task at hand knowing full well it was a mountain to climb whereas for NSW it was the complete opposite. All season all we've heard in the media has been about how NSW are winning the series easily and with the likes of Gus, Gallen and Joey's neverending bragging about how good their players are. hen you get to game 1, NSW got all the fanfare and a long dramatic entrance of champions at home like they were going to win just to get beat by QLD. This lead to Freddy spitting the dummy and chucking all his toys out like a spoilt little child blaming the ref which lead to a 'secret meeting' with the ref prior to game 2 which either way true or not had a massive factor in the determining of the result of game 2. Because of that result all we heard for weeks was how NSW were gonna roll into Suncorp and walk all over Queensland and win the series yet again which they lost the game again because of the cockiness they have for a mentality. Thats why QLD always wins because NSW can't beat their own mentality
While you are correct that Gagai has not played a lot of games on the wing, in State of Origin he has played multiple games on the wing, its the position he made his debut in so Gagai shifting out to play on the wing is not a major issue given his experience at that level in that position.
Better Team work Great leadership Coaching genius Queenslanders know how to dig deep the legacy of past players and all of their supporters carry one another over the try line QUEENSLAND 2022 STATE OF ORIGIN CHAMPIONS WOO HOO 👏
Here’s the thing Junior participation in Queensland for rugby league is way higher than New South Wales when I was living in Queensland for awhile I was a youth worker and I asked a lot of young lads what they wanted to do with their life and about 65 to 70% of them said they wanted to play for Queensland at Suncorp Stadium one day and it’s bread in them when they’re young boys that’s their grand final and you see it in a lot of these young lads Who played for Queensland when they run out they there 10 feet tall and bullet-proof and on top of that having three Future immortals and have 3 of the most integral part of the age of heroes as coaches to help them is truly a marvel and amazing thing to see Thurston Smith and Slater achieved heights in State of Origin that no one gets to touch in life
Keeping in mind (saying this as a 100% Maroons fan) the Blue weren't at their full complement. Imagine that team, with Tommy Turbo and the newly found form of Latrell. You fit those two in the centres, piss off the Crichtons and Luai, put Burto in Five-Eighth, Cook in Hooker, Koroisau in 14 and Wighton in 15... That's a scary team... One that could have easily 3-0's this series.
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 For diversity in skillset. As good as Hynes is, Burton brings a unique and deadly skill that Hynes doesn't to the Blues. Skill-to-salary ratio is irrelevant for Origin. Cleary can do everything Hynes can, but arguably better, and think about how devastating Latrell and Turbo would be under the chaos caused by a Burton bomb, and with those two in the side, there just isn't room for another playmaker, and you can't pack the bench with extra halves cos the forwards need resting throughout the game.
@@Bottle-OBill qld won the series when at one point they had hunt, dce, dearden and grant all on the field at once. four small men. and i dont think luai's done enough wrong anyways to deserve being sacked as cleary's halves partner.
@@godemperorofmankind3.091 I'm not saying get rid of him in isolation, I'm talking about forming a team with Latrell and Turbo. Burton brings more threat options than Luai. And you'll notice the team I've suggested isn't loaded up with big men, it's probably overall lighter than the team fielded in Game 3.
@@Bottle-OBill i had a look at all their ages the other day. when you see the likely retirements of say, toupo, dce and hunt, my guess is that jac, sam walker and grant will slot right in immediately. that to me is obvious. whats less obvious is what the nsw are gonna do, because burton hynes and luai are all around the same age. for a long long time munster and sam walker wil be the qld halves pairing and i think the same's true of luai and cleary. i dont think luai's ever gonna get sacked. injured maybe but not sacked. there are a ton of great players who will probably never play in nsw because there's just too many incumbents ahead of them. manu is never gonna be the roosters fullback as long as tedesco's healthy and available. turbo's never gonna be the nsw fullback until tedesco retires or is hurt. papenhayzen has no place in nsw until tedesco retires, though he's much younger than the other fullback options so maybe eventually he gets his turn. i think dylan edwards would be a great nsw fullback or centre but theres so many other more obvious options that i dont think he ever gets his turn. he'll have to stick with being the likely premiership winner fullback. so while burton may be your choice at 5/8, he'll need some major luck to ever be selected there. maybe some breakout amazing season next year now that he'll be getting mahoney and kikau. but paps had a breakout season this year and he was still not the nsw fullback choice. if we're going on form and form alone, both origin sides would look very different. but thats not the sole consideration.
I think the title of this vid is poorly worded. With the exception of one half the maroons dominated nsw. We clearly wanted the win more in game 1 and that is why we won it, from that moment the series was ours to lose. Nsw may have come off a dominant emphatic win last year that should have by all rights been a whitewash. But the Qld club sides, Billy Slater, his staff and a host of young debutants meant that whatever nsw thought they’d be facing in game 1 would be leagues beyond what the maroons were last season. The blues as usual refused to respect their opponents and got burnt.
Poor coaching/selection is the major reason. Freddy fked that team by the reactionary way he picked it. He's got NFI how the pygmalion effect works, as is highlighted by the difference in each side's debutantes performances. Freddy isn't a coach's asshole...I hope they keep him there for the next 10 years. Lmao.
Forgetting his assistant coaches. His maroon mates lol the other 4 to be exact. Can't beat any team with those 5 men boosting the players moral to the roof. Just can't beat that that's forsure. Can you please go back to your Queensland dynasty video and correct your mistake that Greg Inglis was dropped for Adam Mogg in 2006 game 2, Inglis injured himself in a club game and was ruled out for 2 months. He was not dropped like you state in that video. Adam Mogg was selected for G2 due to that Inglis injury and then selected for G3 after how good of a game he had in G2. Thanks.
Why Qld shouldn’t have won the series then yet talks up our entire team 🤣🤣 Mate, go back to the drawing board! Yas get too cocky and got pumped full stop!
I also think once the team's are picked you can't bring in player who weren't there for game one and two. Like freddie bringing in Jake. Like my guy pick ya team and shut
QLD's kicking game just suffocated the Blues. NSW couldn't find any rhythm. Dearden being physical and competitive in every tackle he was involved in. The pressure was too much for NSW hence the Luai pass trying to get them out of trouble and the unnecessary Crichton offload. Mistakes induced by constant Origin-quality pressure. Both teams played well. QLD were just better.
NSW has the best pool full of great talented players in todays NRL. So what went wrong? I’ll tell you all why, it’s the management of the team, Braddy Fitler and his coaching staff relied too much on the Panthers play style and forgot what other talented NSW men had to offer sorry but not sorry I’m glad QLD won well played well deserved.

Statistically NSW always have trouble playing deciders in Qld, the blues know this but they pushed the maroons hard through most of the match. What a great summary of the series. Good video
You know as the saying goes "Beware the Wounded Queenslander"
This has happened before. No surprises. NSW - Best players on paper and still lose the series.
Queensland - Best players on paper, won 8 in a row.
I think not having munster was what helped and allowed pomga to have such a good game, so i don't necessarily think it was a bad thing.
lol yeah pongi. I hope newcastle boots him honestly. you can also have gayguy. I am sick of l053rlanders. gags play good at times average at times. same as pongpong. he plays good and ordernairy for newcastle. they put on the ugly m000oooorines jumper and all a sudden they play much better
Resilience and belief is what we and especially this team is made out of. QUEENSLANDER!!
What ALOAD of shit Fat guts Vauntin hadn't coached before,Plus Slatter had a cast of hundreds advising him,Give us all break, especially Billy Moore HE still Gringe's when he hears QUEERSLANDER.
We won cos we have heart 🤣🤣
Negative if you had heart you wouldn't have conceded that many tries over the series.
QLD Spirit was missing G2 we put 30 unanswered points on you.
G3 2nd half we made several crucial errors that gave the game up.
Considering how much ball you had in our half you only managed to cross the chalk twice.
Good game see you next year.
Why havnt a qld team won the nrl since 2015 then?
@@deant3980 that’s a stupid question, most of the Queensland players are playing at clubs not in QLD
@@Fez_Co97 y’all crumbled under pressure
@@rsoul9551 I would say we made a few critical errors. That's a phrase I would happily use for QLD performance G2. Hands on hips looking at eatchother not knowing what happened 😳
Great vid! I commend you (as a Blues fan) for being so impartial and just enjoying the spectacle.
I’m a blue and through, I noticed that Blues basically lacked everything.
No heart in general
No visible drive to actually cross the field
No apparent game plan
No apparent kick strategy
Barely coordinated as a whole
Definitely lacked origin spirit
It was barely a performance you’d expect from a bottom 4 club team, let alone for origin. Whack as
Holmes in form for cowboys, Hunt best player for dragons, DCE best player for manly, Carrigan best forward for Brisbane.
Dce isn't the best player for manly 😂 Tom turbo is better
Never doubt Queensland as they perform their best when they’re the underdogs. GO QUEENSLAND!
I am a Qld supporter and even I didn't like our chances, on paper NSW should have swept us regardless of a Mitchell/ turboless team. Series wins 24 to Qld 16 to NSW
Almost as tasty as Liberal tears, are NSW tears. Queenslanders have HEART, something the current crop of NSW players don't have.
"we"
They have a history of not selecting "origin players" who if eligible for QLD would've been mainstays
@@jackjamesp "you" are a fan
@@jackjamesp "qld is much more" spare me this hypothetical bullshit.
Mad in depth video next year we'll pop em
This avid is SOOOOO on point. QLDers are a couple of grubs! No Offense QLD😂
Funny thing is maroons did deserve it it’s not about one player working by them self to score it is a team sport maroons just worked together better
Capewell has played centre many time filling in over the years and gagai has played wing many times at club and for qld/australia, those positions are not unknown to them
Capewell at centre has played plenty of football with cleary and the panther boys being an ex panther himself so he knew how to shut them down well.
The media hype up NSW as favourites every year, even during the 8 in a row many betting companies has nsw as favourites ( somebody has been rigging betting markets for sure)
But in reality Origin is very tight contest most games, most games decied by under 12 points sure there is the occasional blowout scoreline but most games are close.
So in game 3 Qld didnt have Kaufusi, Munster, cotter,Taulungi, and NSW didnt have Payne Haas, an absolute unit in the middle along with missing turbo and latrell.
cobbo and collins were losses to qld but they covered the gaps really well, so the odds even themselves out
Cam murray getting knocked down early i would argue was a bigger loss, the man has the fastest play of the ball in the comp, plays 80 minutes, hardly misses a tackle, footwork and speed etc, and if you watch the game kalyn pnga and cherry evens targeted that edge the edge he would of been at, very smart tactics
Kaufusi missing and putting nanai there made qld look sharper in attack, kaufusi makes more tackles and is a better experienced defender but he is a penalty machine with 6 agains, so with out him qld didnt have a man binned like game 2 lol.
Freddys selections throughout the series were very hot and cold, whereas slaters made logical sense
Topou makes more metres than addo carr is faster and more agile and addo carr didnt deserve to be overlooked
Dropping jakey turbo for game 1 was criminal so at least he brang hm back.
wighton gets the rona so talakai gets game 2 spot, fair enough, but wighton comes back should have come straight back in for talakai all due respect as sifa.
DCE is 33, in the last 3 or so years of his career and in peak form played many more grand finals, semi finals, origins, test matches than cleary who is only 24 ish and yet to play his best
DCE outkicked him with early kicks and everytime nsw had the ball on halfway they dropped it, so many errors compounded the pressure
NSW had superb defence to even stay in the game with 2 minutes the go, put people cleary for that game loss is ridicolous, it was just one of those games
I just wish this time next year that both teams have their strongest 17s available with latrell, turbo, addo carr and payne haas for NSW and munster cotter and kalyn ready to go for another epic contest
Great in depth comment thanks!
@@alphakye the amount of crap out there since origin 3 of the peabrained argument of 'NSW dont get Origin QLD do' or ' cleary is overated and the new mitchel pearce and penrith is also overated' is pure crap and i fell like i need to rant all my talking points about it,
QLD didnt 'want it more' they just played tactically better, kicked better, repeat sets, early kicks, less errors etc and due to players out from both teams and a few 'questionable' selections from nsw over 3 games the games were all 50/50 either way, If NSW didnt have pride and and passion qld would have put 40 on them with the possession they had but the kept trying
Interesting series this one
Papalii? What do you think of Coates
Why hasn’t the other turbo been picked
Agree with all your points. But you need to add one more important point: "Blues stupid team selection" - this is the elephant in the room. The omission of Josh Addo-Carr, Campbell Gillard, and Clinton Gutherson was suicidal. Add to that the omission of dynamic "never-give-up" competition form players Mitchell Moses, Adam Reynolds and Payne Haas - it was a disgrace.
Yep, I agree. I hope they keep Freddy as coach for the next 10 years...he's a dud.
J Turbo was left put of the first game. His passion wasn’t there like in previous series because “LOYALTY” brings out the best.
payne Haas had issues with his shoulder so wasnt avaiable for game 3 but other than that Freddy’s ridiculous decisions costed his state the shield
Guhterson? lol where is he going to play?
We won because of loyalty 🙌🙌 nsw will never know what that means
True. Go Queensland!
True facts right there 💯 👊 👊 👊
"we"
For the Munster one, NSW were preparing for Munster, they had no idea what Dearden would pull off, and the first try shows that, a classic cowboys try
The Maroon jumper means something tangible to the QLD players, back in the day the Blue meant something to the NSW players but now? not so much.
that jersey is just a pay-packet for them and a nice ig post.. means a lot more to a queenslander thats for sure.
Pre Origin NSW used to buy QLDERs after they played well for QLD then run them out the next year against QLD shows it never really meant much tbh
@@jest3167 thats a great point - the fact the freddy, with his great sportmanship, had the nerve to go and moan and complain to the officials and his wishes were granted quite obviously to any aussie (or not) who was watching the series
@@thvtsydneylyf3th077 Freddie complains like a 2 year old after every loss and goes to the ref
Wow what a video bro! Loved it
Great content with thank you
Go QLD Freddie thought his plan was going to work but he was wrong both teams had a chance and deserved to win and qld did something was very hard
Here’s the thing Junior participation in Queensland for rugby league is way higher than New South Wales when I was living in Queensland for awhile I was a youth worker and I asked a lot of young lads what they wanted to do with their life and about 65 to 70% of them said they wanted to play for Queensland at Suncorp Stadium one day and it’s bread in them when they’re young boys that’s their grand final and you see it in a lot of these young lads Who played for Queensland when they run out they there 10 feet tall and bullet-proof and on top of that having three Future immortals and have 3 of the most integral part of the age of heroes as coaches to help them is truly a marvel and amazing thing to see Thurston Smith and Slater achieved heights in State of Origin that no one gets to touch in life
No they shouldn't of won it. That's why it's one of their best wins ever. QUEENSLANDER!!!
Great synopsis. I totally agree with all your points.
Cap your just jelly of how GOOD!!!! MAROONS ARE YOU CAN'T CHANGE THAT WE ONE.
One that could have easily 3-0's this series.
why is burton at 5/8 and not hynes? i know stick any half in the dogs and theyll struggle but hynes alongside reynolds has been the buy of the season
Youngsters were more hungry and wanted it more, billy knew what he was doing having faith in em and it paid off
follow up vid for this year?
Lmao.
Slater was connected to his players......they were on the same level.......not fiddler
Forgetting his assistant coaches. His maroon mates lol the other 4 to be exact.
Can't beat any team with those 5 men boosting the players moral to the roof. Just can't beat that that's forsure. Doesn't matter who is in the maroon team now. And that word fiddler 😤 you must love that word long john. Only fiddlers like that word
Let's hope you not one
Fittler can be arrogant but not in a rude manner. Just like his roosters coaching days he just thought all he needed to do was turn up

Can u do a video on how andrew johns was so good ?
You are about 50% right remember Qld players better when there under pressure they like to be in a loosing position not like nsw
Thanks.

He’s not wrong but up the maroons !!
I like Jakey T but he should never have been at prop. RCG and Wighton may have made things more competitive
Bro let us Queenslanders win a series for once
NSW has the best pool full of great talented players in todays NRL.
So what went wrong?
I’ll tell you all why, it’s the management of the team, Braddy Fitler and his coaching staff relied too much on the Panthers play style and forgot what other talented NSW men had to offer sorry but not sorry I’m glad QLD won well played well deserved.
What about the Ferguson forward pass by 2 metres a few years ago that cost the maroons another series win … Terrible.

Good players do not necessarily win you a game of footy. Filter Had so much talent to pick from. Was it cockiness or overconfidence? that he thought would make them win. Whatever it was. his selection of players failed.
Statistically NSW always have trouble playing deciders in Qld, the blues know this but they pushed the maroons hard through most of the match. It was such a great game because it was a close match, marred only by a few uncharacteristic errors from the roaches 🪳 that the toads capitalised on. The cowboys connection shone through….
