    I have actually awakened in the middle of the night trying to figure out how to modify those stupid new spouts! Thank you for your video!!

      I also took it one step further. I removed the red thing, then wrapped heavy duty " T-REX" duct tape around the spout to hold the upper spout down. Since fuel doesn't leak all over the place now, duct tape isn't getting sticky.

    Good to hear there are replacement spouts, however the explanation was 23 minutes too long… get a VP racing jug for $30 and you will be good to go

    I always cut that knuckle buster off of the can as well as the lock tab off of the cap. My philosophy is, if you need all of those safety features, you shouldn’t be using that equipment in the first place! Leave it to the adults.

    I always save all still-usable nozzle-parts from gas cans, in case I come across other gas cans in the future that have cracked or missing spout-parts. Plus of course, you will have extras to share with your friends if their own gas cans have any parts that need replacing or upgrading. :D

    I have a nozzle similar to the one you show at first. That nozzle sucks. I replaced mine with one similar to the old fashioned one, but the gasket disintegrated into the gas. I wish they'd bring back the old nozzles and plastic cans.

    Love your videos, maybe a bit less talking that doesn’t really impact the upgrade. Could probably reduce the video by 1/3. But thanks, the new gas cans suck and those stupid new “safety” spouts have to add to the cost. And no, they are not safer, they slip off the fuel tank, leak, spill, well, you get it.

    It was designed by a paper pusher who had a piece of paper saying he was an engineer. However, a piece of paper does not make a person an engineer, genetics does. You are either born an engineer or you will never be one. You only need to go to school to refine your natural abilities. Engineering is a peculiar way of thinking in which you can see possibilities that others can’t see, and the ability to convert your vision into reality.

    I don't think you would "Compromise" the seam (Since it is a very good welded seam) by putting that vent in the middle up high but still in the back of the can, so fuel won't come out the vent when filling. Great Video.
    Thank you.

    • @Quacks0
      @Quacks0 Год назад

      I think that part of his concern may have been that the seam might interfere with a leak-proof seal for the air-vent --- he says about his wanting the vent-assembly to "fit down flush" against the can's surface. Yeah, yeah --- obsessive-compulsive, but this is flammable gas that we're dealing with here, so you really can't be too careful around it.

    Use needle nose hemostats to reach the burr inside or fine needle nose pliers.

    I bought a very similar kit too from Amazon and installed it on my gas cans. A few weeks later the rubber gasket on the flex spout had deteriorated and caused my cans to leak! Apparently, the gasket rubber material was not fuel stable! Check your gaskets!

    All those various easy pour spouts are garbage. The plastic is cheap and the rubber gaskets always fail. You’re lucky to get a year before they start leaking too. It’s better to just buy a Just Rite or Eagle and be done with it.

    The engineers who designed these so-called safety nozzles are out of touch and utterly incompetent! Any FUNCTIONING ADULT knows how to properly use a gas can and FULLY UNDERSTANDS the consequences of misuse, but the “Nanny State” tends to use it’s overreaching power to treat us like little children with idiotic (and more dangerous alternatives that pose more significant threat to safety with defective and ill-made components) decision making and I’ll-thought out shoddy designs!
