Dezel was such a sweetheart. I replayed the entire game a couple times, and this scene got harder to watch each time. He grew on me so quickly, even if he didn't have that much time to develop as a character. The scene when Rose made the owl pun and he started laughing was one of my favorite moments. If you read all side story you will found out that Dezels is the kindness Seraph .he care about the others but he is also a sundere too so he doesn't show it out straight. this scene almost make me cry.

Tough guy with the troubled past that takes the time to be the big brother of the group. check add plus if he is ex combat or has a 10 year in combat check, then add another check if he has something mysterious about his back story, and finally add a check if he is on some kind of redeption or understanding quest. this type of character exists all over the place in rpgs to the point where their appearances share features. Dezel in paticular looks kind of like the friend from grandia 3 and the brother from grandia 2 just to name one other series.

This may come off as really dumb, but I'm glad I got spoiled about this. I was pretty certain that Dezel would be my favorite character despite not buying the game, and now that I know he dies, I don't have to buy the game and run into this tragedy. Not to say I wouldn't have continued past it, buuut yeah. I was 50% into the idea of buying this game, and Dezel was about 10% of that, especially because none of the other character's personalities appealed to me. You can do the math.
Dezelis actually a very annoying character. Surly, dishonest and always grumpy. Honestly the biggest mistake the game made about the character replacement was not killing Dezel EARLIER. He gets killed about 3/4's of the way into the game, so we barely have enough time to get to know Zaveid, who is a lot more likable. Thankfully Zaveid gets some spotlight in Berseria from what it's being said.
I hate it. I hate it that he had to die. He was my favourite character in that game. The only character I liked at all. Why did he have to die? Why did he have to die like that? Couldn't Zaveid be the one insted? Without Dezel the game just wasn't fun anymore.
I remember I was dreading this scene from the get-go. The moment I fought Zaveid for the third time and got Siegfried I knew that I was going to have to say goodbye to Dezel. :(
I think it was his fault because of his will to keep traveling with the windriders which made his domain....Malevolent? When Lafarga said that their adventures were over....Dezel didnt want it to be over and then Unintentionally he made princr konan into a hellion.
Yes,that is correct. The game implies that a Seraphim's "blessing" is not always a blessing. Dezel's feelings seeped malevolence due to his fears of the Windriders breaking up,which led to the Prince being corrupted and the whole situation spiralizing out of control. Also, Dezel is not a saint. After the fact (and after forgetting his fault in the situation) he literally turned ROse into a perfect puppet for posession and used her for secret murder missions which Rose never knew about. In fact, Edna points this out immediately after Rose joins the party, when she makes Rose move while Rose is clearly unconcious, to which Lailah literally gives Dezel a glare and later tells Sorey that one of the reasons for making Rose AND Dezel join was to protect Rose from Dezel hijacking her body (this never gets said directly but the implications are very direct). He also was the one who implanted on them the idea of turning into an assassin's guild.
It wasn't actually,she was just there to screw with him. In Berseria we learn that there are Seraphim whose domains are inversed and instead of blessings they give out a curse, In Berseria it was Eizen who had a negative influence on others (he's nicknamed the Reaper/Shinigami because of it). In Zestiria it is revealed by Symonne that Dezel's "Curse" amplified the malevolence held by the prince and when said prince transformed into a Hellion it slew Dezel's friend and caused the Windriders to kill the Prince (and in turn become criminals in the eyes of the Rolance Empire). And you guys should not cry so much about Dezel. He literally turned Rose into a murderer by hijacking her body to kill specific people he wanted to take revenge upon. It's hinted he may have been the one who thought up the idea of the Assassins, using Rose's body (again) as a means of implanting the idea of becoming assassins in the others minds. SO yeah, Dezel was an asshole. Also,if Dezel's plan had worked Rose would have died along with him.
Dezel deserves this and much more, not only for ruining lot of lives but ultimately taking a young girl and turning her for life of blood on her hands. Brad, his best friend and many more suffered because of his actions. Using Rose body without her consent and building an assassin guild is pretty awful, then him almost getting Rose killed at end is his own doing which could have ultimately gotten both of them killed. Overall it was just bad writing all around, ruining both alisha and Dezel could have both been handled better and it was like development team could not figured out who they wanted be as party members.
