Thank you Cory. My hobby has been restoring older cars. This past year with the shut down my Son and I decided to get a 20 Gallon and do a project together. Nice to see the bamboo shrimp (we call them flower shrimp) on your list. I have one in my betta tank, and it's neat to see them extend their "nets" to capture food. One I would have put on the list is the mystery snail. They are so entertaining to watch them move on the most delicate plants. I don't know how they do it without bending the plants. I love my mysteries. They're so funny. My golden yellow zooms around the tank and the blue is a lazy baby. He's often annoying the golden, trying to mate her. Watching her try to fight him off is so funny.
Great video! I would add with the Singapore Flower Shrimp and Atya shrimp in general. If they are combing the bottom for food, it is normal. They are scraping algae off of the rocks and usually do this at night where they will eat rhabdocoela and detritus worms, along with algae, and other food stuffs. In the day time they fan the water column for food, since any micro invertebrates will be the most active in the light. So the ground feeding is okay and it helps control algae.

I’ve owned a couple of Achatina fulica so I have a soft spot for snails. Though I did freak out when I started up my aquarium after 12 years of not having any fish at all, and saw a baby “pest snail” strolling around a few days after I got my plants. I let him be though and letting him go between my other aquarium I started up a few weeks after the first one. Got a few more of the lil fellas thanks to buying more plants but yeah, I don’t mind them really now since they keep things cleaner. I do however give my kuhli loaches the really, really small ones (like couple millimetre size) I find every so often. Got 3 aquariums now and they’re all beneficial for each other in a way, or so I believe. And I need to thank you Cory, because it was finding this channel and watching the content that got me into this hobby again. 🐠 Much love from Sweden! 🇸🇪
Pond snails are the best ! I got them in my aquarium on day 1 and never had regrets. People calling them pests did not take time to observe them long enough. Under the light they display a wide variety of colored stripes. White, yellow, rust, beige orange and all the existing hues of brown. Some have metallic shades like bronze, copper and gold. Each individual is different from the other. They grow fast but also live very fast so you will be under the impression that there are too much from time to time, that's because they have hatched at the same time. One or two weeks after you'll wonder where they're all gone. They only reproduce if there are enough food so you will lnow by their numbers if your tank is dirthy and maybe stop feeding so much. Their eggs and youngs are live food for your fish keeping them healthy and colored. In turn this has a beneficial effect over snails overpopulating since only the lucky will grow fast enough to not be eaten. They are tireless workers, eating all sorts of algaes, fish poop and debris 24/7 you're most guaranteed to have a very low maintenance aquarium with them inside. Their birespiratory system is also usefull to know if your water is oxigenated enough. If it isn't you will see them often float to the surface to get air. They will never hurt live plants working around them and cleaning them with delicacy and attention to detail. They're the best thing I've done to my aquarium(s).

I enjoy the knowledge you drop on us regarding our tanks and things we can add. Thanks !!!!
Let’s just collectively agree that “pest” snails just be vibing and let them live their best lives in our tank 😔
I love snails. Every tank I set up had snails
Hehehehhe I put in 2 liter and use as feeder heheheheheheheh
@@rattlerboi4034 you gave them a whole 2 liter? 😜
@@mydadgaveupopcorn lmao, ye I had em in a 2 liter but accidentally over harvested and now I have one.
they are alive like any other in it and it deserve to live like others I think
Fact about bamboo shrimp: It is eaten by south Indian people
Thank you for sharing the info!
Was fun to travel and learn how many "pets" are food items.
I'm severely hearing impaired and require subtitles to understand and enjoy the video, can you go into the video settings and enable them? Thanks!
I had CC on my video, did yours not work?
@@Lazy_Fish_Keeper 5months later and I'm still not seeing CC enabled unforunately
@@Alec2cool I have to manually turn it on at the top.
I'm on a phone, not a computer. Maybe that's the difference? I just realized that I can't post a screenshot here to show you the cc.
On the video, upper right side/top, the cc had a toggle beside it. I slid the toggle, and cc started working.
@@Lazy_Fish_Keeper They are on the bottom for PCs. Perhaps it's a youtube bug. I seem to be only experiencing a lack of CC from Aquarium Coop, More Aquarium Coop, Steenfott Aquatics and Girl Talks Fish, my other subscribed channels are always subtitled. A weirdly specific bug.
@@Alec2cool that is **really** weird....
If I had a better keyboard, I would type out the transcript for you.
I am lost with out subtitles or cc.... 😔
Always enjoy Cory's talks. Leaned so much!
THANK YOU
Why did the snail cross the road?
- To see the idiot.
Knock, knock
Whos there?
The snail.
Why did the snail cross the road?
I dunno, I'm still waiting for him to finish crossing so I can ask him. He's taking his sweet time...
Much love from Sweden!
Just brought my first big fish tank and your channel has helped me massively thank you
Lots of good info! I’ve had my 75 tall tank set up for about 6 months now and I’m excited to expand my livestock!
This is the most informative freshwater invertebrate video I’ve found! So much important information. I really needed to know all this. Great info. Thank you.
Had my first invert tank last year. I do t know that I will ever not have them again. They are so much fun to watch.
Just discovered your RUclips channel and I am loving it. Going through your videos and I am finding them very informative. Had an aquarium and I sadly had to sell it due to unforeseen life changes. Was gutted and it hurt to see it go after about 20 years of sheer joy. Never thought I would be able to start this amazing hobby again, but I have been very lucky to get myself another aquarium and I've been watching you for some gentle reminders, tips and I've even learnt some new things. Thanks for all your hard work producing this channel and I look forward to watching many more.
Unforeseen life changes ? What does that even mean ?
Been getting back into the hobby and these videos are great! Clean up crew are one of the coolest parts of the tank.
Thank you for putting these videos out. I get my snails and shrimp in tomorrow and these informative videos give me the know how for success
We all do a lot of work to maintain our aquariums. Anything on the other side of the glass doing cleaning work is a true aquatic friend 🥰
I love how cory is the only reason i started to like the fish hobby and how all his videos learn me so much on how to take care of my fish 😁
I love you videos, You are my all time favorite go too when I need to find some thing! Even when I talk to my local stores they know who you are:) Thanks for being you!
I've been doing a lot of research into the best shrimp to add to my tank, if at all possible. Thank you for your informative presentation.

Happy to follow your channel from Canada Quebec. I learn new things on the hobby every time! Merci
Hey. Love your content. Best on RUclips! My fiance works and then comes home and works on 4 betta tanks, a cycled 5 gal and two 10 gal tanks with endlers, mollies, guppies and neon danios. We live in a trailer so the whole kitchen is dedicated to our fish.
We watch your videos every night together and you are the reason for our bigger tanks!
I just got shrimp to help clean up my planted betta tank! The cherry I got looks absolutely incredible under blue LEDs!
