They just put it in smaller writing on the back or the side of the box. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate you! ❤️❤️
I already been doing my natural hair myself so I'm not suffering more than most. The worst thing is that I really need a profession trim because my hair is tangle city and uneven. But it does not look bad at all because I know how to care for it and I do not dye it. As I was French braiding it today I was thinking how dense it was getting. I have 4c hair. Curly coily kinky dense hair hides a multitude of sins.
You are the (first) person that got straight to the point about (Texturizing Hair) You help me to really understand without all the fanfare thank you for getting straight to the point.
Ugh I became a victim of the Jheri curl in the Kindergarten (which just happens to be the same year my sister got her cosmetology license 😣). I got delivered from that sin & shame around 4th grade when she started giving me regular perms (equipped with scalp sores of course). I really thought that was a way of life until I went to college. I started transitioning but that is a tough process so I started perming only about 2 times a year. Then, I convinced myself that I really didn’t need the chemicals since my hair broke off regularly. The healthiest head of hair I’ve ever had is now at 40, where I wash, condition, and place in a protective style (braids usually). Periodically, I pull out the old-fashioned straightening comb. But it’s not a need-I love my natural hair and its struggles. After all, it is healthy. BTW: I GOT MY GLAM FAM T-SHIRT! 🤗🤗🤗
Thanks for being so candid, clear and concise. I've been natural for 10 years. Went through some stress and lost about 85% of it last year. So I did a big chop. I hated it! I've been struggling with it daily for the past 8 months. 3 days ago I texturized it. Had I seen this video before that, I'd never have decided to do it. I was looking for greater managability. Major regret. I see another big chop in a few months. Sigh.
Thank you for this video. My friend told me years ago texturizing is the same as relaxing. I'm so frustrated with my 4C hair. I've been trying to take care of it for about 8 years. I'm finally finding products at my hair loves but I'm still having a lot of shrinkage. It is what it is. I'm starting to love my hair but it's a lot of work still.
Facts! Similarly bleaching has relaxed my curl pattern from coils to wavy. When my new growth comes in I clearly have 2 different curl patterns happening
When I big chopped back in 2001, I had my stylist do a texturizer. Didn't work (my hair is strong-willed like me!🤣) so my natural hair journey began. I'm personally glad it didn't work!
A lot of stylists don’t do them correctly, primarily because you don’t learn how to texturize hair in cosmetology school. The only thing they teach about black hair, honestly, is how to manipulate it straight by pressing or relaxing. There are a few schools that dive deeper, but not many. I’m working hard on this channel to try and help out with that, but babayyyyy! It’s work lol! And for the sake of healthy natural hair, I’m glad the texturized didn’t work too! Blessing in disguise huh? 😉
I tried natural it didn't work. My hair hated a texturizer. I do a relaxer to loosen the curl pattern only. Never bone straight. I wear it wavy/curly and it suits me. My hair is denatured but it is my hair and a professional does it.
The active ingredient in a hair relaxer is: Sodium Hydroxide (Aka: Lye). They are ALL the same. I used that chemical to make bar soap. It is very very strong. Like liquid lava after mixed with water. That’s why relaxed hair smells burned after application.
Thank you. I am trying to go natural. I have thick 4c hair and my scalp is soar from me combing my hair. I was searching for help and ran across a texturizing video and I was ready to jump in and then saw your video next. I am bummed but I’m glad I was educated.
Taking msm helps make your hair softer. Use conditioners that soften hair. This may sound weird but I used a beard softener on my hair because it was so coarse but it worked over time. You might also want to try using a detangling spray combing your hair in the shower might be helpful as well.
So did you ever find a solution? I get that texturizer is bad but what other option is there? My hair is impossible to deal with and products are expensive just to find that they don't work for me
Lol I’m still on the struggle bus on my way to RUclipsr-ville you see I got a flat tire with my camera focusing on the background instead of my face! 😂 and then I wore that busy shirt not even thinking about how it would clash with the background 🤣 #NotARealRUclipsr 🤣
@@GetGlamFam Lol! One step at a time! New equipment equals new challenges. Progress is progress and I respect what you're doing. I'm here for all of it.
@@GetGlamFam is this still you garage? Or did you commandeer one of the family rooms and the kids have toys all over the floor and you aren't wearing pants in this video? Lol the bits we can't see. I don't wear pants in my Zoom meetings but I do have a throw wrapped around my bottom half. Lol!
When I first big chopped I put in a texturizer hoping to help out my 4C hair... Oh Lawd, I looked like an extra in a Soul Glo commercial and had to big chop again! It was a curly, unmanageable mess! I had a Jherri Curl when I was a child (still traumatized) and it wasn't nearly as bad as that texturizer! 😭
Truly than you for this video, because I was thinking of texturing my hair. I am going to hold off and see what I can do for this low porosity, thick dry hair of mine.
Now I'm wondering if there is a difference in strength. When Kitty perms were first introduced we all thought they were a milder version of regular relaxers.
Hi Linwood, Ive been following you for a few years now. Thank you for all the great videos, especially the one with your beautiful daughters. Tell them hello. Linwood, I’m 71 with silver, white roots, gray and black and ends are honey blonde. My hair is a 3b I think. It will puffffffff up if I think too hard…….lol…… It’s been 23 years since I relaxed my doo, but my hair is growing and I desire to wear it’s length. Will a texturized help?????
My mom was pissed when my grandma put one in my hair she said my curl pattern hasn't been the same since. As she use to use in my hair was water, gel, and grease
Girl I feel her! There would be all out war if someone put a chemical in my babies hair without my consent! If it’s any consolation, relaxer doesn’t permanently alter the curl pattern that your hair grows, but, as you get older and your hormones change, your hair changes with it.
@@GetGlamFam so I texturized maybe 2-3 times in my life as a kid. Last time was 2018 and I chopped my hair in July 2020. The front of my hair is thinner than the rest is there anyway to fix
I am so happy I came across your video💚 because I was this close to going to get a texturizer so I can be able to manage my 4z hair better. Thank you for the informative info
I had to stop using relaxers because my hair was breaking off in clumps and now my hair is so messed up and im trying to get my hair healthy again. The hair struggle is real for me, I need lots of help.
My hair is not designed for any kind of harsh treatments. It is naturally highly porous, very fine and very dry. These "treatments" are incredibly harsh on the hair and my hair cannot handle them especially when applied incorrectly.
Would you make a video talking about the Gina curl, wave nouveau, etc? The Gina curl can cost up to $950 and supposedly it’s the healthiest “curly perm” option. I’m actually considering it because it looks really pretty!
Speak that truth!! I'm starting to see alot of people using S curl gels and activator sprays on their hair now. #1 I thought they stopped selling that in the 90's. #2 are those products just as dangerous as the boxed chemicals?
Great question, the styling products are fine, they are just glycerin based gels/sprays. They help with moisture and achieving the wet look. Bet the gel and the spray don’t chemically alter the hair.
My pleasure! I don’t mind people using them, but I hate how the beauty industry markets them. They do it to intentionally be deceptive, and that’s not ok for me at all.
I might go back to relaxer/texurizer... When I cut my hair off to between a buzz cut and a 1 inch afro. My older longer hair can't handle it and breaks off.
Yall betta listen! Once upon a time, I had a jerri curl. When I got sick of having to sit there for hours and go through the entire curl process, I straightened my hair. How? With the creamy crack that comes in the curl kit. 🤷🏾♀️
My hair is too sensitive for perms and texturizures I use to get them because I thought I could easily manage may hair by using chemicals to change the texture but I noticed I would experience hair breakage and scalp burns so I stopped using it. I still havent found a way to manage my nautral hair so I usually just wear wigs. Natural stylist are hard to find.... I have to figure out more natural products to use to get curls. My hair is 4c hair which is very course. I'm ready to go natural just not short what to do with my hair.
My relaxed hair was so amazing . What went wrong was BLEACHING it 😂😂😭so now my hair it natural . And I honestly don’t think that I can manage it completely natural however I will wait a few more months for more growth to make a decision. But I will try a texturize next instead of bone straight but umma let my mom do it
Lin, could you do a video on the particularities, pros & cons of a curly perm? Thanks. Oh wow. Looks like you're doing matchy-matchy with your background. I see you Lin! Cheers!
Hi. My 5yr old son's hair was texturized at suggestion of stylist at the salon after I expressed how tough it was to comb out/detangle and manage. He has very thick, packed "cottony" hair that sucks up moisture and often looks dry (except right after being washed). However when its wet, his curl pattern is beautiful. I can't seem to find any styling or conditioning products that work to make his hair soft, manageable, moist and have sheen. Only thing Ive tried that makes a little noticeable impact are styling products with honey. That was about 1.5 yrs ago. I'm concerned if I made the wrong choice and "messed up" his hair as it seems More coarse, More dry, More shrunken and is impossible to comb or brush unless its done while shampoo/conditioner is on (and even then he howls that it hurts 😟). He doesn't really get haircuts, (occasional lining like 2x/year) so the hair from 1.5 yrs ago is presumably still there....altogether his hair is @8 inches long when stretched out. Do I need to look at cutting most or all of his hair off in an attempt to get rid of this texturizer and so new hair can grow in?
The only thing Mike was right about was them females running out of their wigs and shoes on Maury! 😂 A gheri curl is ammonium thioglocolate, and texturizers are sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide. They are fundamentally different and Mike would know that if he would actually pay attention in class! 🤣😂
Thank you so much for your honesty and clarifying this question. I just wanted to ask. Many years ago, I used to have a jherri curl with lustra silk and my hair grew sooo much then. With a regular relaxer my hair did not grow no matter how hard I tried. What about a jherri curl that makes your hair grow?
So...is sodium hydroxide the only thing we should watch for? Thanks for this. Just poked around the ingredients label on my fave "curl creme". That list is a half a day's deep dive into chemical compounds, omg.
Sodium hydroxide (near the top, not the bottom of the list) many things have it, including toothpaste and all natural soaps, but it’s neutralized and in smaller amounts. If it’s top 5-10 ingredients, don’t trust it. Also, calcium hydroxide, Lithium hydroxide, and guanadine are all types of relaxers.
Hello Thanks for this informations. It s clear for me now. I just want to have waves on my 11 years old child. Because it s hard either for me and for her to take care of her hair... sorry her big and long hair
I didn't know that about texturizers. I thought of them more as a step before a jheri curl. And I wondered if they were what I'd heard my mother talk about male black celebrities getting in the 60's? I think she called it a "process". If you look at early pictures of the "Temptations", Little Richard and Chuck Berry and even Nat King Cole you'll see what I'm talking about. I've been natural since 2013. I haven't put anything in my hair to help chemically manipulate it. But I did use a product that I was told was a good detangler. And for some reason I ended up having a sore spot in the back of my head. And that was one of my issues with relaxers. It didn't matter who did them, if they put oil or whatever on my scalp beforehand or not. No matter what they did I'd end up with at least one sore spot in the back of my head just above where my hairline ended. And that area would be sore for a week or two. I now wonder if this is an allergic reaction to something? But I'm not sure what chemical or ingredient would cause that.
I had a client that had a spot in her head that was hyper sensitive like that, turns out it was a spot of psoriasis in her instance, so back when she was getting relaxers, they would always burn in that one spot. As far as the “process” question, that term is commonly used for any chemical treatment in the hair, some likely had curl reformers, but many back then wore relaxers and wetsets, such as finger waves and rollersets. Some did press and curls as well.
@@WeezyJeffersonYo I thought that was their actual hair texture. Even now Diddy, Usher and Nelly seem to have the same hair texture as they did back then. But it's possible that they have something in their hair. So I'm not ruling that out.
My sister: I’m getting my hair texturized. Me: you’re getting a perm. My sister: no texturized Me: a kiddie perm. My sister: no my natural hair just better. Me: 😳
🤦🏾♀️A perm is a chemical process done w/rollers AKA perm rods to curl your hair. No offense but a Relaxer is NOT a perm so you were definitely wrong 🤭🤣🤣🤣 I don't understand why people still wrongfully use that term, calling a Relaxer/Texturizer a Perm.🤦🏾♀️
yes ma'am... been off that creme crack since I got pregnant with my daughter and was forced to learn how to care for my natural hair.... no regrets since #GrowthAndHealth
I have "mixed Hair' and texturerized for awhile. At first helped my hair to accept moisturizers but now, I want to lt texturizer grow out but my hair is very dry and I have use tons of moisturizers to keep it from being dry and frizzy but that doesnt last long, Any suggestions on good long lasting moisturizer?
Can you touch on Brazilian Blowout? Is it considered to fall under relaxer and can be damaging even if it’s done by a professional stylist? I’m natural by the way.
Thank you ! Please tell me how you got your curls back. What did you do? how long did it take? and what is your maintenance routine? It's been three months since my last relaxer and I'd rather have my curls back. The braid outs don't work and I'm not a products person. I've seen hundreds of video with at least 10 products just to barely get a curl. Please 🙏🏽 help me.
After this morning's video I came here to get a better understanding...this is really helpful because I'm on the road of going natural and its gets confusing sometimes...thanks
Make sense because every time I would put a s curl in my head a week later it’s like the back of my hair had a bald spot, loss of hair in the back ...what is the best texturize to use ?
Lol I still have a random square just out of the shot! 😂😂 I’m glad someone noticed the wall! (I found an easier and less expensive way to do it, so it was a win win for me!)
@@GetGlamFam You almost blended in the wall like a good sew in with the leave out 😂 good job tho! Come thru DIYer...I'm heading to Home De-POT in a few myself.
Chyle I did not think about that BUSY tail shirt I had on before I started filming! 😂😂 I was like mannnnnn! People are gonna think I’m obsessed with leaves! 😂❤️
I know this an older comment, but "heat training" is one other method I've seen. Haven't done much research on how much damage it wpuld still cause, but I think it's basically blowing out your hair frequently and causing the curls to lose over time
I know you posted the video about texturizing your hair about a year ago. About 3years ago I did the wave neaveu(however it’s spelled). I have 4c and it’s painful to comb my hair, I want to make my hair easier to comb and bring out whatever curl pattern I have
Thank you so much for this video! I thought that I was doing better by choosing the texturizer however my daughters hair still fell out around the edges.😢
I had a relaxer for years and finally big chopped and now my hair is back. Which I'm grateful for but the while thing of getting the relaxer in the first place was because my hair is really thick and 4c/4b .so if texturizer won't help but still hurt what will.
Nothing will sadly the only quick fix is texturizer it is possible to keep up with it but it’s not for everyone some people don’t know what to do and ends up having damaged hair
A jheri curl was put on me and my sisters hair. My mom went gangster and literally whooped up on the girl who did it. We had burns on our scalps and our hair was broken. And ugly. My mom had to put our hair in braids until it got better. The 2nd and last time a relaxer of any sort was put on my hair i was in 11th grade and my besties mom/hairstylist did it. And she gave me rules to follow to keep my hair up. It was my first WANTED haircut too.
Thank you for this video. I've been tell my husband these same things. He's been wanting me to put a curl softener on our daughters hair and I keep refusing cause I love her curls and don't want to do damage to her hair of scalp!
When I use relaxers my hair breaks when I use texturizer it doesn't explain that, I don't never want my hair straight just manageable cuz I have very thick and course hair that a comb won't even go through
need answers, its 10 year now i havnt relax my hair and had no plan to relax it again,i plan on making a big chop but i have slightly thick hair so was told to ues scurl as a softener,do you have any suggestion?
Thank you for debunking the “texturizers are more gentle” myth. It’s all still a relaxer🙄🙄 if someone chooses to relax their hair bc they personally don’t want to deal with it in its natural state, then fine but i hate when those who get texturizers try to act as if they’re still natural. Honey, you are not and that’s your choice and it’s okay. But just know you’re still relaxed 😂
See me being a child my mama lied to me talking bout don't worry u still gon be natural 🙄 so I told my friends this my natural hair. 🙄 I big chopped once I became an adult lol 😆 now im legit natural
I did mine because I wanted it to be more managable, left it in for like 2 minutes too long and it got WAY straighter than I wanted. Doesnt look bad but SHEESH
I’m a guy I was thinking about doing a comb thru texturizer same thing basically as s curl I think so my question is is it ok to do tho? Like would you say if done correctly is it fine to do?
My long Jewish hair is extremely thick, coarse and curly, stiff and wiry. I'm done using a flat iron and have been letting it grow out for the past 2 years, always wearing it up because it's too poofy for my small face. I'm interested in getting a short, asymmetrical, tapered haircut, but I'd like to see if there's something I can do first to make it less stiff and wiry so it lies down better instead of sticking out all over the place. Do you think a relaxer left on for 15 -25 minutes would do the job? My hair is very dark brown, almost black and I also wonder if coloring it warm brown would help re-texturize it by slightly stripping it.
Hi. @ Cheryl S, did you still have a little growth, like peach fuzz, even during treatments? I'm a breast/lymph nodes cancer survivor and my hair has and is growing in salt and pepper with a much softer texture. My scalp is still tender the longer it gets. I spritz my scalp with rose water, which seems to help dull the pain.
Naturally Kool we’ll, it went to all bald, like a man bald. Then as the treatments lessened, or I’d say stoped, did my hair come back in the peach fuzz faze. It started and has continued to grow with substantial loss of wave pattern. It sticks up on my head like one of those scared dolls that people poke pins in. And it’s very fine. I had an Angela Davis fro and now cancer, just stopped me of my crow. I had lymph node removal also.
@@cheryls4526 I had waist length sisterlocks before I cut my locks and had my head shaven the day before I started my treatments. After chemo and radiation once my hair started growing in, I went to a barber and I kept my hair in a nice low fade. So easy on my scalp.
Good morning y’all! So it’s pretty typical for hair texture to change after chemo, especially depending on the severity of the treatment. But also bear in mind that anything that affects the hormones also affects the hair, meaning potential changes in texture, color, fullness, or curl pattern. That being said, if they removed your lymph node, you may notice some slight changes, once the body balances back out from treatment. It can sometimes take up to 18 months or so post treatment for that hair to begin to normalize into its new, or previous texture. I hope that helps answer the question you had! Also, great tip about the rose water! I’ll keep that tucked in my back pocket
Do Thio relaxers make better texturizers because of the lower PH? Most people only use them as part of a curly perm but I just want to loosen up my curls not make new fake ones, lol
Thios are generally safer due to the lower pH, so long as they are used correctly and after care is as it should be. Usually the hair appears much thicker with a thio too, because the hair isn’t being broken down as much. However, I would not recommend it at all if the hair has already been treated with a sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide relaxer. Excellent question!
GlamFam Hair & Beauty thanks so much for the quick response! I’m fully natural 5 years and tired of the struggle. I don’t want to go to a salon for Virgin texturizer though- sorry lol. I’m a DIY person. I think touchups I may go to salon.
All I can say is read read read and be careful! And definitely deep conditioning more regularly after you do it, chemically treated hair loses moisture and protein easier. ❤️
Are you pulling it though every time? Keep in mind, retouches should only be on the untreated hair at the scalp. I can’t stand the smell of thios, but being a cosmetologist, we are constantly exposed to ammonia and harsh fumes.
My salon put a conditioner in my hair and now my hair is straight when I wash it get curly but not my curly hair I had. I know something was put in my hair do anyone know what it could have been. They denied it but my hair is different and I gotta start over now with my natural hair
It's the same chemical but is there any that is not as strong? I thought the blow out kit was the mildest because you were streching/ creating an afro.
So why are we always shamed about taking the route towards having more manageable hair? People of other ethnicities apply chemicals to make their hair less frizzy, etc yet they aren’t shamed into thinking their hair is any less natural.
That typically comes from within the community. Now that being said, if you are perceiving this video to be shaming anyone, you would be incorrect. If relaxing your hair makes you happy, and you can keep it healthy, you’ll hear no qualms from me. The concern I have is when people are lied to and manipulated into putting a relaxer into their hair under the guise of it being a different chemical that is “more gentle.” A texturizer is no more gentle than a relaxer, and if someone does get one, they need to increase deep conditioning and care to ensure their hair is not breaking off, dried out, or damaged. I hope that helps clear any possible miscommunications. Thanks for watching!
@@GetGlamFam I didn’t really say you were shaming, but our culture definitely does. I want to get a smoothing treatment and my mother in law went nuts. I’ve been without a perm for 12 yrs, however my hair is extremely thick and tangles easily. A lot of fine hairs. Silk presses don’t last due to the porosity. People go nuts if you say you want more manageable hair. Most hair products contain sodium hydroxide. We all are putting some kind of chemical in it.
For some reason the culture, especially the natural hair community does that a lot. I will say, make sure that you are selective and well informed on the kind of smoothing treatment you select. Some require 450 degrees of heat, others you can do with as little as 385. Some are more of a straightener, and others just make straightening and blow drying easier when styling, and lightly loosen your curl. There are tons on the market to select from 😊
I heard the term flash texturizer. What does that mean? I'm going to cut my hair next month and have been trying to understand the difference between relaxers and texturizers and I saw that term.
I am glad I let the relaxer go, the chemicals made my scalp itchy and dry and it never lasted. The Alabama humidity took my hair straight back to natural.
Hi, only discovered your page today as I've been looking into 'Texture release'. Is this also a 'Mild Relaxer? Thanks P.S Subscribed straight away. Your content is so informative :)
If you find that your hair seems tighter at the roots, you are likely sweating in your head, and the salt content is drying your hair out. Rinsing the sweat out and cowashing in between shampoos can be massively helpful. Also, glycerin based products can help quite a bit also with softness and elongation of the hair.
I don't do relaxers, I get silk blowouts. During the late spring and summer I get fancy cornrows. What conditioner should I be using during the summer months?
Moisture moisture moisture! Of course you know I love Giovanni Ulta moist, but Framesi has a moisture rich mask that is great, and I’ll also be dropping a review video Monday with another great deep moisture mask, at a great price! Stay tuned!

What did you learn about your hair?
Thank you for this video. My friend told me years ago texturizing is the same as relaxing. I'm so frustrated with my 4C hair. I've been trying to take care of it for about 8 years. I'm finally finding products at my hair loves but I'm still having a lot of shrinkage. It is what it is. I'm starting to love my hair but it's a lot of work still.
What texturizing you use?
What products have you found that work for you?
Facts! Similarly bleaching has relaxed my curl pattern from coils to wavy. When my new growth comes in I clearly have 2 different curl patterns happening
Very good point, bleaching weakens the same bonds in in the hair as relaxers and perms! 😊👍🏽❤️
Yeah I'm only bleaching a buzz cut. Or Minimal highlights IF my salon director okay's IT. Other wise......Not my fine ass hair. Lol!
This happens to me!
Thanks Linwood for explaining everything! It’s still a relaxer! Just in a prettier box!
My pleasure! Thanks so much for watching! 😊🙏🏽❤️
Omg thanks for this comment. People swear it’s different when it’s not.
@@GetGlamFam indeed!
My hair is impossible to deal with and products are expensive just to find that they don't work for me
YES!!!! Look at that background! You are becoming a real youtuber, lol! Great information! Thanks for sharing!
Oh LAWD! Lol we’ve all been there with the hair fails! Lol I feel your pain!
Truly than you for this video, because I was thinking of texturing my hair. I am going to hold off and see what I can do for this low porosity, thick dry hair of mine.
*It's not just 'how long you leave it in' as the main difference, it's HOW ITS how more or less its SMOOTHED (worked through) during application.*
His point was that it's still the same chemical, even though the application (time & technique) is different
@@GetGlamFam Thank you!
My pleasure!
@@GetGlamFam so I texturized maybe 2-3 times in my life as a kid. Last time was 2018 and I chopped my hair in July 2020. The front of my hair is thinner than the rest is there anyway to fix

I got better results with the Texture softener. I lost less hair and I was able to retain my growth
which brand did you use? please let me know
Really? What brand ?
so... is there anyway I can loosen my curls naturally now?
Affirm texture release? Not permanent, It washes out after a few months
Love it, thanks for not dragging your information out. Very informative, to the point.

Have you seen my “Haircare Tips and Advice” playlist? I cover all sorts of stuff on that playlist to help people get healthier hair.
My hair is not designed for any kind of harsh treatments. It is naturally highly porous, very fine and very dry. These "treatments" are incredibly harsh on the hair and my hair cannot handle them especially when applied incorrectly.
@@GetGlamFam no I haven't I need to go look at those because my hair is screaming for help
🙋 Hi Tammy. Do you remember which relaxer you were you using when your hair fell out in clumps?
Would you make a video talking about the Gina curl, wave nouveau, etc?
The Gina curl can cost up to $950 and supposedly it’s the healthiest “curly perm” option. I’m actually considering it because it looks really pretty!
Watching this video while I was texturizing my hair, I’m a boss!
Your video is so educational. I regret texturizing. Continue to give tips on the causes of rough texturized end. I hate styling my hair.👍🏽💯
Used a texturizer a few days ago and I learned that one side of my hair is longer than the other😂
🤣😃😃
Same lmao
Speak that truth!! I'm starting to see alot of people using S curl gels and activator sprays on their hair now. #1 I thought they stopped selling that in the 90's. #2 are those products just as dangerous as the boxed chemicals?
Great question, the styling products are fine, they are just glycerin based gels/sprays. They help with moisture and achieving the wet look. Bet the gel and the spray don’t chemically alter the hair.
Thanks!
Thanks for posting this I don’t think I would ever try a texturizer
because it’s all relaxers
Notifications are actually working! As always thank you for the great information!!!!
Yasss! Look at youtube notifying people! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 thanks so much for watching and commenting! I appreciate you!
My relaxed hair was so amazing . What went wrong was BLEACHING it 😂😂😭so now my hair it natural . And I honestly don’t think that I can manage it completely natural however I will wait a few more months for more growth to make a decision. But I will try a texturize next instead of bone straight but umma let my mom do it
What product did u use to relax
Lin, could you do a video on the particularities, pros & cons of a curly perm? Thanks.
Oh wow. Looks like you're doing matchy-matchy with your background. I see you Lin! Cheers!
Thank you so much! I am so happy I watched this before messing around with my natural hair!
Ok so wait a min.. you actually DID have a Jheri Curl?? So Mike was right?
The only thing Mike was right about was them females running out of their wigs and shoes on Maury! 😂 A gheri curl is ammonium thioglocolate, and texturizers are sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide. They are fundamentally different and Mike would know that if he would actually pay attention in class! 🤣😂
😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂
@@GetGlamFam And as I recall, you would NEVER use a relaxer on a gheri curled hair - unless you want to be mayor of Bald City.

What's the best relaxer for texturizing 4c low porosity hair?
Thank you so much for your honesty and clarifying this question. I just wanted to ask. Many years ago, I used to have a jherri curl with lustra silk and my hair grew sooo much then. With a regular relaxer my hair did not grow no matter how hard I tried. What about a jherri curl that makes your hair grow?
The constant moisture.
@@ok-ex9xy hi. I think that you are right. I have another jherri curl and my hair is growing even in the most resistant areas.
Ahhh, thank you!!!!
My pleasure! Thanks 😊🙏🏽
Hello
Thanks for this informations. It s clear for me now. I just want to have waves on my 11 years old child. Because it s hard either for me and for her to take care of her hair... sorry her big and long hair
I love the very thorough and detailed information that you dispense. Thank you!
Thanks for the information. I was about to go het a texturing kit.
Me: 😳

@@bellamonroe7322 which part is right it’s just texturized not a ‘perm’ or her natural hair only ‘better?’
🤦🏾♀️A perm is a chemical process done w/rollers AKA perm rods to curl your hair.
No offense but a Relaxer is NOT a perm so you were definitely wrong 🤭🤣🤣🤣
I don't understand why people still wrongfully use that term, calling a Relaxer/Texturizer a Perm.🤦🏾♀️

When I use relaxers my hair breaks when I use texturizer it doesn't explain that, I don't never want my hair straight just manageable cuz I have very thick and course hair that a comb won't even go through
What if I texturized my virgin hair, combed the front too much, now it’s wavy, can ot be fixed or am I doing another big chop? 😅😅😅😅

What’s a safer way to loosen up your curls ?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Just accept thee curl or loosen them chemically. Simple.

I did mine because I wanted it to be more managable, left it in for like 2 minutes too long and it got WAY straighter than I wanted. Doesnt look bad but SHEESH
Thank you for this !! But is there any healthy substitute ?
What do you suggest then to soften the curl? I was just about to run out and get a texturizer. Been natural for two years.
Hi. Would you have any info on hair growing back from cancer. It has a different texture and anything I can do to get it to grow again?
@@GetGlamFam thank you Linwood. It's a journey in healing💜
What should I do instead for my 4C hair? To make it more manageable
I don't like working with Thio. I think it affects the lungs and after a few touch ups I don't like the texture of the hair strand..
I love his wisdom he's always so interesting.
Can you do a video on curly perm, wave nouveau, curl free perm or GinaCurl?
Hey Linwood...what category does beautiful texture naturally straight fall in??? And can it cause damage to the hair?
My salon put a conditioner in my hair and now my hair is straight when I wash it get curly but not my curly hair I had. I know something was put in my hair do anyone know what it could have been. They denied it but my hair is different and I gotta start over now with my natural hair
It's the same chemical but is there any that is not as strong? I thought the blow out kit was the mildest because you were streching/ creating an afro.
Ok so now how am I supposed to manage my tough hair? Any products you recommend for 4c tough hair?
How come my stylist keeps applying the texturizer to already texturized hair when I go in for a touch up?
Should I get a new stylist? Please help
Honestly, yes you should probably go to a stylist that either doesn’t overlap, or specifically request that they apply it to the new growth only.
I have really thick and coarse 4c hair.I oil my scalp but my hair is still tough.i was thinking of texturizing but do you know any alternatives
I am currently using Keratin as a treatment. Do I need to continue with or can I change the brand?
Wow good to know.! I just cut off all my hair and the hairdresser said the next time she could use a texturizer on my hair. I will not do it.
Good information fam, you taught me something new my nephew asked me about a texturizer and I needed information. And nuffin wrong with your shirt 💪
so im letting my hair grow out I had a straight perm and did the big chop now I want curly hair what should I use?

Is there a different in the sodium hydroxide, sodium thiosulfate, and the calcium hydroxide? I think I got those chemicals right?
Hi, only discovered your page today as I've been looking into 'Texture release'. Is this also a 'Mild Relaxer? Thanks P.S Subscribed straight away. Your content is so informative :)
So what can you use to loosen your curls when they so tight???
And why do hair get nappy at the roots??
If you find that your hair seems tighter at the roots, you are likely sweating in your head, and the salt content is drying your hair out. Rinsing the sweat out and cowashing in between shampoos can be massively helpful. Also, glycerin based products can help quite a bit also with softness and elongation of the hair.
So can I use a relaxer for less time for the same results as a texturiser
