Greetings brother from Hillbrow Lodge 3046EC (English Constitution) of the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) in South Africa. Very informative video you made. I am at my 3rd Degree and I’m planing to go to the Royal Arch, and further I would love joining the Scottish Rite.
I am fascinated by Freemasonry and it has some produced interesting people that could connect with people who have similar interests and have become movers and shakers in the building of modern society. But it's secrecy is so attractive to anyone who doesn't care about morals and finds others that are down for corruption and crime from all walks of life. It's like the duality portrayed in Masonry, a double edged sword. My great grandfather was a Mason and at least one of his sons was a Rosycrucian even though I never met them my grandmother's stories made me curious and I have visited some open days, went to some lectures and found that the Masons met were very nice guys with the same interests in history and religion. One one side I would like to join a fraternity like this (if they'd even take me). If only for the libraries. And on the other side I feel like if there are secrets worth sharing why hide them in veils of secrets and moreover monetary costs. The pay wall blocking the profanes enlightenment that is reinforced by the members who can deny access all together. But then again most people are not aware of anything and simply don't care or believe in anything. Nice library by the way, I can only imagine what for books are in there. A lot seems pretty old too...
Brother my lodge is United Lodge of Prudence (83) we were actually lodge (8) but during the restructuring in the 1750s Meaning my Lodge is one of the founding Lodges of Grand lodge ( UGLE) . We celebrated our tri centenary lodge meeting a few years back Never understood the Scottish Rite though as it’s not a regular lodge under UGLE eg outside of UGLEs constitution Great to hear you S&F Steve
Hello Brothers. UGLE does indeed recognize what you refer to as the Scottish Rite. Though to avoid confusion with anything going on in Scotland we simply call ours the Ancient and Accepted Rite. These meet in Rose Croix Chapters.
I do believe we as initiates DO have a "prime directive". We are "light bearers". Much like the "Hermit" card. We're beacons to others lost in darkness. We are very much in a time of great darkness imho.
My grandfather who passed at age 94 2 years ago told me for years that he was a 33rd degree in the nights of Columbus. I remember him belonging to the knights of Columbus and would go there at least once a month (not as much at the end of his life) he was very proud of this. He would tell me he’s a 33rd degree all the time with pride and a big smile. When he died, I found Masonic cufflinks in his things. I also came to find out that there are only 4 degrees in KOC. So I come to you with questions…. He was very clearly proud of his 33rd degree title. He also fought in ww2 and was under security clearance to be part of the group that constructed the LEM for Grumman. He was very very secretive about his life especially when he was young to the point where I found out his parents full names on his death certificate. If someone could take a moment to help me to figure out this mystery I would be so grateful. My grandfather was a really wonderful man, very caring, happy, loving and helpful. He would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I just want to understand some of these things he held so close to his heart. Thank you

Hello...Is there any book which gives detailed information on all the symbols of Freemasonry including the architecture diagram and the steps of Freemasonry diagram and other illustrations. Am new to learning about Freemasonry please
Not this one, but similar. The one in the diagram is from the early 20th century and I think it’s a bit inaccurate in its graphic representation of the degrees/bodies. It’s a cool drawing though, so that’s why I I used it.
@12:40, about Temperence, you say that "too much of a good thing is not a good thing anymore". Are you saying that doing as much good as possible is bad? Does this also imply that Masons intentionally do bad things but not too many bad things? This would be in opposition to Jesus' words in the Bible, which is to only seek only what is good and not what is bad/evil.
It means don’t give away too much power or you won’t be able to do good things in the future. It’s about longevity of the system. Not just prioritizing short term success. Pursuing a bigger goal depends on survival. It DOES NOT mean do bad things on purpose.
"Human progress is our cause, liberty of thought our supreme wish, freedom of conscience our mission, and the guarantee of equal rights to all people everywhere our ultimate goal." Yep. Sounds like elitist mind control.

Bro. Steve, thanks for tuning in. What does the UGLE recognize for high degree?

We are "light bearers".
Much like the "Hermit" card.

We are very much in a time of great darkness imho.
What my meaning is, is that there is no “boss mason” of all Masons giving orders that globally the rest of us blindly follow.
@@ScottishRiteMasons agreed!

Hello from Boggs lodge 292
Welcome brother!!
Maynard is it true that the Masons call the uninitiated the profane?
Some old school masons may use that term. Profane does literally mean “uninitiated” if you look it up. But it’s an outdated term.

@@ScottishRiteMasons That is this Saturday, isn't it? Thanks for the reminder.

@@ScottishRiteMasons I wasn't planning on THAT early. I'm not in any of the costs. Just KSA.

“The Complete Idiots Guide to Freemasonry” is my suggestion. It’s an excellent resource.
@@ScottishRiteMasons Does the book have this diagram which is used here in the thumbnail?

@@ScottishRiteMasons Thanks..But by any chance do you know a book which might be having this diagram? It really is interesting to have one in a book.
It’s not from a book.
