The original song is about feeling outcast, being alone, thus angry and desperate at the same time. The vocalist did a great job implementing the feelings, does resemble Vikernes a little bit. This song is very emotional and it was covered well overall, though the guitars had problems, wrong notes a few times, missed tempo/theme etc. Also the quality is something that isn't much appreciated in old-school black metal, because old-school black metallers in the late 80's--early 90's, they were rebelling against HQ music. Watch the movie 'Until the light takes us' and you'll understand. Plus: even though Vikernes is a kind of white supremacist, he thinks art and emotional expression is not bounded by race. He refers to this In his book Vargsmal and in his vlog videos on Thulean Perspective, as he's admitting the value of asian arts and way of life (not the commercial one, but the ancient ones like the followers of bushido, the Japanese samurai, etc). I totally agree with him on this topic. He's not on the side of eliminating non-white people, but eliminating all problematic people, tons of whites included. Based on this, I support black metal played by non-white people as well. Imo it is for all those who like the music (and if they understand the phylosophy of it, that's even better, but not a requirement!) - unrelated to Vikernes' personal thoughts.
