My Broken Ranger RT 198 P Comes Back from the Factory!

- I just got my Ranger RT 198 P back from the factory. Back in July, I had a hull failure. I had a 2 foot long tear form in the hull near the bow of the boat. It would take on water when I was under power. Once I got it back to shore I was able to find some broken welds inside the hull as well.
After months of waiting, I got the boat back. Those items look to be fixed but ended up finding some damage that happened while the boat was at the factory. More videos to come on this whole process soon. You don't want to miss this.

Stay tuned, I will do a full recap of this whole Experience!
Man my wife is just the same never stops looking at the phone. LOL
As a tradesman, shoddy workmanship pisses me off to no end. Take some pride in your work! Hope you get it all sorted out bud.
Ranger has turned into a different company now 😱 gotta fix it yourself lol 😂
Looking forward to seeing the recap video and your overall opion on this whole experience with Ranger.
I went through the same ordeal in mid 2019- early 2020 and was not thrilled. I have a 2016 RT188 and had an 18" crack in the bow. Got in touch with the warranty department and was told to go to a dealer to assess damage (obvious that metal flexed and tour like an aluminum can but the weld held) and was told to get it fixed and send in estimate. Meanwhile I was on vacation and wasn't going to ruin my trip, so I picked up some flex seal tape and finished out my 2 week trip. Took it to a weld shop to get welded and opening boat for the welder noticed 6 stich welds under the front deck completely crack through the welds. Back on the phone with Ranger and was lucky enough to go forward with approval to get exterior welded closed and told I will be getting a new hull in 8 to 10 weeks.. 10 months later after numerous calls and emails my boat finally gets sent out to be swapped.
Motor, jack plate, seats, console and trailer were swapped from old hull to new hull. I would have had to pay out of pocket to have all electronics, power pole and accessories removed and reinstalled at a dealer. Complete BS. I took care of it myself.
Once I finally received my new hull I had some of the same issues with broken rod tube, cracked divider in rod compartment, missing hub cap, new light sockets (that don't fit my old lights!) And my seats are off center of the console.
The lack of pride put back into the rebuild of the boat was very disappointing coming from such a top name boat. I'm sure most of the people with this boat bought it for the lifetime hull warranty (one of the main reasons for me) along with the features and layout.
I hope you had better luck and success with yours and looking forward to seeing more videos! Thanks for the content.
A lot happened along the way to get this boat fixed. I just got my replacement part for the damage part with the exception of the rod tubes I was told I have to fix those myself. So I will be shooting a video on that repair also. Cause it really is an easy fix
I am on work trip for the next few weeks but I may sit down and record the story while on the road.
@@JCDropshot Yeah that sounds about right unfortunately. I had to do the same. To be honest I rather do it myself cause I know ill be doing it better and get to spend more time in the boat when not able to get out on the water.
I used gorilla glue since to can put it on real heavy and taped the tubes in 2 clusters in 4 at the tips. Clustering all it cracked again on me. So far its holding pretty good.
Good luck with the modifies.
There makeiing them at tracker factory thats the problem there a rangertracker now.saw vidio of one guy everything wrong with his 198.i have 2005 triton bought new in 04 .awesom boat thats why i still have it ive had a 1988 bass tracker p.o.s 2 javolines 2 skeeters in my life time trouble with all of them shitty service webbs in ricky mount mike webb is a rip off on everything.its not right the way some boat dealers treat custermers bass pro services my mercury good service
I have a 2017 rt188 that had to go to the factory due to a main support in the bow failing and putting a giant dent in the bottom of the boat. then couple months later the main weld on the bow running down the center of the boat split. I got a new hull out it with warranty. definitely makes me wonder if Ranger has fixed this issues with the aluminum line up as the new RT188P is a very eye appealing rig. with being one of the nicest lay outs and having a pad bottom.
We have the same year boat. So we will see how it holds up🙏
I have 2015 rt 188, sent it back and a year ago for cracks on the transom and it getting ready to go back now with crack on the keel, Ranger does not want to fix their problems, but else where, this boats a piece of shit!
I had the same problem on my 2019 RT 198P. Ranger would only say it was "impact damage" and refused to warranty it. The truth is that I didn't hit anything. There were no dents in the boat, no scratches, nothing. After a couple of months of fighting, I paid for the repair and have it fixed properly. My respect for Ranger was not repaired. I switched boat brands and couldn't be happier.
I forgot to comment but yes! It’s back! What’s up dude
Grinding away at spring orders for customer starting to see the light at the end of that tunnel finally. I am sure I got another one coming sooner then I want lmao
@@JCDropshot Haha you’re always working and your customer service is great. 100% will vouch for that, I know how hard you work to keep things supplied
Thanks man! I should have a few day here to myself here soon and up to January. May get a few videos done also you never know lol
Seems kind of ridiculous that your boat came back with more things broken. I guess it's true when people say Ranger has gone downhill.
now you got me scared
I am thinking about the 188C
How so?
I don’t like water over my bow
Iam use to a deep V
Guess I will save up for the VS1882
Take a look at the Lund Pro V Bass might be the best of both worlds for you
What would be a better boat between the ranger rt 198p & the Vexus AVX 1980 when it comes to build quality?
I can’t answer that question cause I haven’t spent anytime in a AVX. The AVX does look sharp.
Wow I'm am so surprised about this. Maybe I should keep my tracker with 40hp, it's been great
Glad you got it fixed. Their poor workmanship is why i chose another boat company this year when I purchased a tin boat....
Who'd you go with
I see Ranger has totally changed the hull bracing designs now due to these problems, it had way to much flexing, hard to believe Ranger let this happened in the 1st place, I hope it all worked out for you.
The saga is still going on a Lawyer was hired!
was it an option to get the bottom of the boat painted. I normally see them unpainted. I actually like it painted better. It looks really good like that.
It’s the way it came from the factory. From what understand that’s how they come from the factory since 2017
Well after watching this video it shows me that I won't be buying a Ranger that's for sure
I am still dealing with them to get my boat replaced. It’s getting there finally but it has taken longer then I feel it should have taken.
I have a 2021 RT198P on ordfer should be here in a couple of weeks. Any updates on the hull weld repairs? I know they messed up your tubes and some other stuff, but how has the hull repair turned out now that you've used it some? I see you upgrading the boat so looks like you are moving forward with the boat.
So be totally honest never got a chance to take it out due to work. It just got to cold and since she doesn’t sit inside I didn’t want to take her out due to ice damage. The repair work on the out side looks really good. Inside looks like some welding went down. I hope the repair is better then it looks lol.
I am working on a massive purchase to make content with so sub to the channel if your not you may enjoy what I have in store.
@@JCDropshot I've definitely subscribed enjoy your channel hope for more content. All the best with your boat I certainly have my ears open please post about how it performs after the pair when your water opens up and you get out. like I say my RT 198 p should be here in a few weeks.
I hope it treats you well!
I have my eye set on one of two ranger models either the rt188p or the rt198p. After watching this it makes me question ranger and its quality. Thats a bad break for you for sure. I cant believe how well you took it seeing as it came back with more issues. I wouldve blew my top seeing that!
Dont do it please, you have a very good chance at being disappointed
@@kodymackie6808 ya ive been burned before but ive got another boat thats caught my eye now. The xpress x19 pro! Just gotta convince the wife.....
Heard nothing but good things about that boat.
O I’m mad about things man... I just work in the fishing industry for my day job and you never know who will be your boss down the road. This industry is very small. I will be doing a full break down of how this whole warranty process went. Just haven’t had time to seat down and lay it all out.
@@JCDropshot i wish you all the best with your boat. Its sad to see what ranger did to so many people. I really wanted this boat but unfortunately your not the first person with issues and its starting to change my opinion. I bought a new 2018 f-150 and its been plagued with quality issues so i get it how bad it sucks to watch your money not well spent. Things have since been sorted out but its not what a customer should have to go through. I hope your issues get sorted out and becomes the boat you wanted it to be. Tight lines!
Ranger is not Ranger anyone the days of old is gone. If I was to buy an aluminum rig right now it’s be Xpress.
Looks like Ranger dropped the ball. I'm looking into Vexus.
I recently bought q 2020 Gator Trax Strike Series. Im very pleased. Glad u got your rig back.
@@robshaw9519 Gator Trax top of the line , all I need is the 1862 gt w/150hp set for shrimping and nite gigging
Well I was shopping for a Ranger, not any more.
Glad you got her back! Now maybe you'll get to fish a bit, before ice.
Glad you got it back JC but not a good look for Ranger at all. Would love to see another video on Perch though, hopefully you can get out there before the weather takes a turn.
Going to try but the day job has been keeping me very busy!
Just wondered u doing ice reports this winter? Also great to see the boat is back.
That’s my game plan I miss flying the drone 😁
Wow! Tough break for you man. I've not had a single issue with my RT178 since bought. Fix to fish it's been solid! I feel bad for ya dude. I don't think it's a Ranger thing though. Welds problems though can happen to any boat (all though rare)
The welds are one thing but the fact it came back with more things broken then it went down there with is extremely disappointing
@@JCDropshot Yeah that sucks. The tech was obviously in a hurry and didn't replace those tubes properly. I would definitely bitched a fit about that.
What year is your ranger? And why did you send it back to Ranger?
2017
I removed my rod tubes so I could carry more rods. Mines a 2019 . I think I already have that beam in mine.
Could you send me a picture I would love to see what that area looks like on yours.
@@JCDropshot I will try and get a pic this week end
@@JCDropshot I tried to post a pic on face book but your page does not allow pics. I was mistaken. My boat does not have that brace. Do you think I will need one as well? I will be happy to send a pic if you still want to see it. But I will probably need an email address.
Good that you boat is good now. But such BS when you find broken parts when getting it back. You know the guys reinstalling everything seen issue but just let it go.
Would not be happy getting my boat back and finding broken stuff - you shouldn't have to do the labor of fixing things - at least the big problem was taken care of
Hit the nail on the head sir!
Despite the broken weld and the damage when it was returned. Over all are you still happy with the boat and the overall warranty process? I’m in the market for a new boat before I drop some serious money I would like to hear your opinion please.
Thanks Craig
I am going to do a video covering all of that really soon. A long with going over the whole process of there warranty
Love me some Chicken Shack!!
That one sucks not part of the family anymore
Chewing out your wife and making her look foolish is not a good way to start a video. 👎
Bro, the intro was garbage!
