I was a runaway boy at 15 /16 took me to various jails where i lost nearly 20 of my life. My constant companion and ultimate saviour.... MUSIC. Now 62 with Parkinsons disese ... Music....still my saviour.
I was 16 and a rockabilly in 1980 and used to go to a pub in Hockley Birmingham called The Trees ( sadly no longer around) I took this in and got it played by the d j. Unfortunately the Ted's took exception to it and snapped it in two. A few weeks later and it was the most popular track in the place and the Ted who had snapped it weeks before had gone a bought it himself. Always knew I was right😂😂
As 15/16 year old, I was into two tone, but I also loved my new wave, punk, electronic, reggae, you name it, we had it all. This was and still is one of the best guitar tunes ever!
Back here again love the stray cats songs. Love the legendary Stray Cats kings of rockabilly no competition. The whole package. Still love stray cats in 2023 and beyond. ❤
This song is always relevant and this particular live set shows how friggin’ awesome the Stray Cats are! It’s like punk meets rockabilly the possible way.
Loved this band and still do. Good ole Rockabilly... Still got my 45's too. This is my favourite and was 15 years old when this was released in the UK. Just timeless 👌
This song appeared for the first time on Suomen-TV in the Levyraati program. It was something great and wonderful. I went to Tampere in a cafe called Raatihuone with my best childhood friend Pasi"Patze" to listen to this song on the jukebox, because otherwise I couldn't listen to the song. I will never forget this.
Loved this band growing up. Rockabilly was all the fashion growing up, there was a lot of bands choosing to emulate all these 50's artists at the tale end of the 70's into the 80's. Still sounds cool all these years on...
As a skinhead in the late 70s and early 80s I had to keep my love for this band a secret from my skinhead pals lol . To be honest , I think all my pals probably felt the same , and why not ? . A great band and great tunes .
LOL exactly the same mate... although it was dancing to Since You've Bin Gone by Rainbow at the local disco that was the real problem both the skins and greasers wanted to beat me up! P.S. Check out The Skabilly Rebels best of both worlds...
Well I live in the Shires of the UK and I was a rockabilly Kat hanging out with Skins, Mods and Punks and went to the same venues, and this was late 70's early 80's.
I was 10 when I first heard the cats. Loved it as soon as I heard it and still do. Proper music by a proper band. They don't make em like they used to. Thank god for radio 2 and other alternative stations, that you can escape the utter shite that is about today😍
Le premier album des Stray Cats a révolutionné le début des années 80, les titres étaient terribles, une musique de fou, de qualité, 3 musiciens hors du commun.
He was a big fan of Scotty Moore Elvis's guitarist and Later song of the Stray Cats was the train keeps rolling paying tribute to the other Sun records artist and Sam Phillips. If anybody gets the chance listen to it brilliant song
I am a 53 year old punk, and I love Stray Cats.... I know I'd have been a rocker if there hadn't been any alternative! I love my music, but for an old punk, I have a very versatile choice in music.Life would be shite otherwise!! 👍❤️👌😀
Why would you limit yourself to ONE music genre ? Variety of interests is a sign of openmindedness so i congratulate you 👏 As far as i 'm concerned , i enjoy Stray Cats as well as Philippe Jaroussky
Saw The Stray Cats at the now defunct Venue in London, in December 1980. They were fabulous. Brian Setzer was the missing link between Scotty Moore and Eddie Cochran. He still remains a fantastic guitarist. A fantastic song from a long-vanished period in pop music.
One of the first 45's I bought. Still remember headbanging to it in front of my bemused parents when I was about 11/12 years old. Still sounds awesome!!
I heard them in an endless loop while I was preparing my exams back in 1981 ! it is still very refreshing and as pleasant to listen to that it was at this time ....
It's been about 20 years since I listed to the stray cats. Today I started again, at the his song my indoor cat started singing along! He never has done that and I'm a RUclips music junkie! So crazy
1st video filmed at the old 'Tram Shed' (now gone) in Woolwich where I used to live. Remember being a huge early and young fan, seeing their gig poster outside but too young to get in. For decades thought the lyric "Losing all your quarters, man it's always the same" was "who's an ordi-cordi man who's always the same" how I laughed later, duh 🥴
no way, being a greaser is a way of life just cars, beer and cunts. No shit like politics, being vegetarian or sissy stuff, it's demodé in a world of sissies
I remember this from 'back-in-the-day'. Although at the time I was 'into' sometimes very different stuff than this, even then I thought this 1 was an absolute THUMPER (still is). As I've got older, I find I love all sorts of stuff... . Thanks for posting.
bought this album today on vinyl. Found it at a bootsale. Fell in love with these guys after i heard Stray Cat Strut, now listening to every track on it through youtube. Because my dad's crazy about preserving vinyl. So i don't play mine in case i scratch em. When he was my age he was like 'i'll play it once and record it to cassette then put it in a dust sheet and never listen to it again'.
StrayCats got their first Gold record from Finland where Rock-A-Billy was almost strongest youth mucis style (with Punk) in very early 80's. No other country in those years had so strong Rock-A-Billy music revival in the World.
I was a runaway boy at 15 /16 took me to various jails where i lost nearly 20 of my life. My constant companion and ultimate saviour.... MUSIC. Now 62 with Parkinsons disese ... Music....still my saviour.
Keep rocking dude. Rage against the dying of the light
Praying for peace and strength brother.❤🙏🙏
Pure nostalgia!
I was 16 and a rockabilly in 1980 and used to go to a pub in Hockley Birmingham called The Trees ( sadly no longer around) I took this in and got it played by the d j. As an aside , its funny the amount of stories people tell about Britain in the 70`s 80`s , mention a pub , then follow it with No longer there .
Rockabilly Style at its finest!
Just the best of rockabilly revival. Proper magic.
And they had to go to England to do it🤣
Just brilliant rock ‘n’ roll love it.❤👍🇬🇧.
This is pure rock and roll. The guys look awesome.
Kind of. It's more rockabilly but those two genres are very similar.

I was 15 in 81 when this blew me away. Was a young rockabilly guy. Loved the polecats too.
I was 10. ❤❤❤❤
I was 14. Loved going to gigs a few years later and stomping around the psychobilly scene that was going on then.
I was 19 at the time

Totally unique Then, and totally unique Now!
What an amazing song, sound and band.

Brian Setzer is an amazing guitarist ✌️
Maybe that is why Gretsch named a guitar after him.
He's awesome. A proper rock n roll player.
The Brian Setzer Orchestra wat a great next step, I have the singles, easily no step down
That beat is just fantastic, double base!
I love this band! God bless you forever ❤
the best Stray Cats song !
Great production by Dave Edmunds on this, he captured this song spot on.
I didn’t know Dave Edmunds produced this! I agree he captured the sound and vibe so well.
