    The Gripen E is basically a completely new plane. When Saab started to build Brazil’s first delivery plane with it’s partnership with Embraer, Embraer stepped in and rejected it for being outdated in almost everything. Embraer started updating everything from avionics to hardware proprietary to Embraer and basically only the body is Saab’s. The reason deliveries were delayed for almost 3 years. The E is literally an Embraer fighter jet so much sore Sweden and Saab need Embraer’s and Brazil’s military permission to sell it to other countries. First country to apply for permission to have the plane was Sweden itself!

      @@rectalvapor2234: Bravo! For excelling in the art of idiocy, WVR means dogfighting. Besides "underdog" goes well with "dogfighter" phonetically - that was the aim. Any combatant who survives a BVR clash will end up in a WVR fight. Wow; for making an azz of yourself...

      @@Desire123ification You're not making any sense, WVR is an abbreviation that stands for Within Visual Range (and may or may not involve dogfighting), BVR (Beyond Visual Range) can by definition not involve dogfighting. WVR is something modern fighters strive to avoid entirely if at all possible.
      I now realize you're a kid, which is why I even bother explaining this.

    Its a beautiful jet with very European style attention to details.
    I have seen it in Aero India display.

    Na versao Brasileira, a embraer integrou o sistema de navegação, VOR (Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Range) e o TACAN e DME são sistemas terrestres que fornecem sinais de navegação para aeronaves, permitindo determinar a distância entre a aeronave e a estação terrestre

    Some mistakes:
    - Agressor: It's a proposal for SAAB for a figther who operated like agressor in trainning, that proposal becomes in 2017, using C version, but until now nobody interessing on it.
    - Maritime version: asking for a maritime version, SAAB did a study, verifying what he needs about 200 milions dollars to develope this version, but Brasil loses the your P.A.; then are in off for time.

    The Jas-39C/D is NOT upgraded A/B airframes (only a few parts were used) . They are newbuilt.

      Wrong. 66 A units were remodified to C, 86 additional were built.
      However, C cannot be remodified to E

      Hopefully soone, UA pilots have been testing them out for almost a year now, and theres seams to be a majorety for sending around 10-20 C-variants. and the center party called for immediate discussions of it in parlamet as sone as the ascension in to Nato was done. So hopefully its in progress.

      F is only a two seated version of the E, they make a D or F variant for every so many c or e varients made.

      I’m not sure what information you get this from, forth gen fighters are still capable. And with the upcoming gripen E it’s defiantly a real plus model. Sweden’s main enemy Russia doesn’t use any fifth gen fighters on the battlefield. So using 4+ vs 4+ shouldn’t be a problem. Once again read up before you talk

      On the contrary, Typhon is a poor option compared to the JAS-39. The JAS-39 is an aircraft with much cheaper operating costs than its competitors, meaning it can train more than others. The JAS 39 has high technology, it can communicate with EAW planes like the R-99 with the radar turned off, which gives it an advantage in the air. The JAS-39 has stealth characteristics. In addition, there was technology transfer that benefits Brazil. As for the Rafale, Brazil shares a border with France and they have already had territorial disputes, it would be illogical for Brazil to buy it from the French.

      One hour flying the Typhoon costs 40 thousand dollars. 1 hour with the Gripen costs around 5 thousand dollars. Eurofighter Typhoon is not a good plane, any missile system can destroy it.

    The JAS -39 Gripen is a good 4 generation fighter that have evolved to a 4.5 gen fighter and is a very good solution for smaller airforces with smaller budgets but the Fighter have a fatal flaw its very small wings they need to increase the wings to a 10 meter or 9.6meter wingspan so the fighter will gain to extra hard points and increase the airframe size by at least 1.5 meters and adopt the new version of the GE F-110 with 27.000 pounds of force or a upgrade version of the EF-200 from the Thyphoon is a lighter engine and have alot of growth avaible adopting a version with 25.000 pounds of trust and a vectoring trust version that have been already tested and implement a foward hardpoint to a targeting pod so the fighter get all their hardpoints for ordanances and then the swedish will have a top of the line fighter that have enjoyed alot from thecnology from the Thyphoon and other european companies, and sweden should go for a European engine that could be built in sweden because they will always have problems with America when they are competing for the same export contracts, Israel is a great example they won some contracts to Europe like Croatia and others will follow but Americans put a stop on the engines and parts for the F-16I soufa Viper that is superior to the block 50\52 i dont know about the newest block 70\72 but i doubt that the Americans are superior to the Israeli fighter, the Gripen is just like the IAI LAVI a great fighter that Israel just decided to drop the development because of those same restrictions and financial constrains, but is just like the gripen just pick the blueprints and SAAB just built the Fighter i doubted but the similarities cannot be ignore. I think the Lavi from IAI actually was to be a awesome fighter with it was now a days that the Israeli industry just got extremly advanced and mature in electronics and weapons integration and capable of producing almost everything for a advanced fighter like the Lavi that is just like the JAS -39 Gripen or the other way. The clear similaraties cannot be ignore its just adopted from that project, SAAB Defence is one of the greatest defence companies in the world and always was ground breaking in advanced weapons design but come on or was just a big coincidence

      for the wingspan, it will naver change as long as the swedish airforce is the number one client. it is made that way to fit any road to follow the idea of disperced opertaions. The concept is not about the size of the country it has more to do with the closeness to the potential enemy. Gripen is a usless fighter for americans, brittish and french airforces but gold for nordic and east/central european countries. The enemy can bomb any airfeald when the jet gets rearmed, feuled and repared in a forest by the road, and fast. For example compaing the for example the gripen with f35 i cuite daft. The F35 is a spear head build operate far from the battlefield while the gripen i basicaly a geurilla fighter built to operate from the battlefield.

      @@caravaggio31 Yeah useless was a bad choise of word. A F35 could be fairly useless for Sweden as they need advanced tech and runways that would likely be bomed the firs day. Grippen is extreamly capable fighter that takes out the f35 3 out of four. As a sweed i would nog change the grippens to anything but maybe complement them with 20 f35 och f22 for recon or deep strike missions.
