      Synchronization: A pilot signal can help synchronize code, data, and carrier phases.
      Control and supervision: A pilot signal can be used for control and supervision purposes.
      Equalization: A pilot signal can be used for equalization purposes.
      Continuity: A pilot signal can be used for continuity purposes.
      Reference: A pilot signal can be used as a reference.
