    Amazing. Purchased each product exactly as mentioned (down to the grip liner). So, so grateful for this tutorial and info. I purchased #10-32-3/4" machine screws to attach the clamps to the bracket (took me a minute to figure out which screws worked). Again, so so appreciative. Amazing content!!

    Finally! A subject matter that I’ve got 20 years of real world experience with. I use the Manfrotto Autopole II. This system is the original AND I travel with them! My Autopole have NEVER failed me! On assignment, it’s OVERKILL PLUS! I rarely use more than one color background when I’m out shooting, but when extended height poles (16ft. in my garage) or with the spreader legs, it’s an unbeatable system!

    Great solution. I have the Impact Wall Mounting Kit that I used to have installed on my ceiling, but I’ve moved into a rental. I’d like to avoid holes in the wall.
    Do you prefer the Impact Varipole vs the Kupole?
    I have a ton of Kupo super clamps. Will those work for this just as well as the Impact Clamps?
    Last thing I didn’t know about the aluminum tubes and agonized over avoiding sag. I ended up discovering that a 1.5” x 1.5” x 8’ piece of wood from Home Depot actually fits perfectly inside the Savage paper roll. I cut it down to fit btwn the expanding white roll holder thingies, and I didn’t have sag in over a year and 1/2. That piece of wood was like 6 bucks.

      @@FStoppers depending on whether you don't need the paper sweep on the floor, I use 1" or 2" spring A-clamps to weigh it down. if you want to tension it out at the bottom use several A-clamps starting with a 2" or 3" (depending on the Autopole diameter) around the Autopole, then clamp the leg of another A-clamp in that one to tension out any wrinkles. Works great for muslins and canvas's too.

    What is to stop the Varipole from pushing up through the ceiling, at least denting the ceiling, or even pulling away from the vertical, if the mounting position is not carefully aligned with a joist or some other solid backing, especially if the Varipole is not very carefully jacked up to meet the ceiling with no more than the necessary tension to hold it in place? At the very least, the ceiling needs to be protected from possible damage from movement of the pole. Ceilings (and the Varipole itself) will expand and contract depending on environmental conditions, humidity, temperature, etc. I often hear mine expanding in the heat as it is designed to do. No mention of the potential for a disaster waiting to happen in this presentation and I cannot believe this scenario does not at least need to be explained and dealt with appropriately. No way I'm following this advice!

      This is true. Our ceilings are made of concrete so this isn’t much of an issue. If possible, I’d place the poles below studs but if you can’t, you can place a 2x4 between the pole and the Sheetrock that spans across a few studs to help give the mounting surface the most rigidity and stability as possible.

    Literally installing a similar system as I type this! Wish I knew about this mounting system though. Maybe in the future at my next location.

    How many super-clamps do you need

    • @FStoppers
      @FStoppers  4 года назад

      I used 4, two for each paper arm. I'm sure you could fill the extension poles with wood and drill directly into them and not need any superclamps but that requires more work. -P

    I purchased the Fotoconic 10' pole and went to order a second only to find it sold out. I ordered an Impact 9' from B&H for a second paper roll. The B&H order hasn't arrived. I am assuming that I will need to cut off some length from the Fotoconic pole to make it work with the shorter one. Anyone have any experience combining these two?

      Yeah hopefully they will get more in stock soon. If you want to use both, I assume you can just cut the longer one down with a circular saw. Shouldn't be hard. -P

    Where do you get the rollers? You can also get extensions for the Varipoles.

      It's actually closer to $700. If you buy everything you need plus a few rolls of paper, taxes and shipping.
