How is the connectivity since the antenna is on the dash verses the outside of the car? I’m thinking of doing the same type of setup
It's not too bad...The only time I have an issue is when I'm driving through an area with dense trees (which isn't very often)... Good luck with your install !

Do i need this if i already have xm radio capability when changing radios?
The radio I installed was xm "ready", but I still had to hook it up to the "descrambler".... You might want to contact the maker of your radio and ask them.... Good luck!

No, I didn't. .. In hindsight, I should've tried. Been meaning to go back in there.

yes #1 take non active radio and th row it in the damn SHIT CAN!!! #2 get a STARMATE ST1 get power chord & attenna then tune car/tuxy radio to same station that the STARMATE ST1 is tuned in under fm settings sit st1 in passenger sit!! and thats it!! no WIRE CUTTING NO REMOVING SCREWS!!! INSTALLATION COMPLETE!!!!!
