This Day 32 is really inspiring me! Which one do we ecumenical Christians decide to choose? Hardened heart or softened heart? Each one of us has to decide to choose one in the Presence of the Lord. Thank you Fr. Mike for clarifying this explanation! Amen!🙏🏼❤️
A song we sometimes sing at church Soften my heart Lord soften my heart, From all indifference, set me apart, To feel your compassion To weep with your tears Soften my heart O lord soften my heart. ❤ Graham Kendrick
Yesterday I just went back to mass, and I haven't been to mass in over a year or two, but I did go to Christmas mass. Wanting to become closer to God again, I started listening to your podcast again and am absolutely falling in love in the presence of the Lord again, so thank you so much for this and doing all this hard work for us. I truly appreciate it ❤
Wonderful podcast. This is my first time listening to the word of God. I was raised without religion. It's taken me 7 months to get this far but it has absolutely already begun to change my whole life.
Day 32!🙏🏻 2025 Thank you Lord! Father in heaven, we give you praise and thank you for your word! We thank you for speaking to us today and sharing your heart with us!! I am praying for everyone and lifting up everyone in our beautiful community! Amen and have a blessed day!!!💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜🙏🏻💜
Thank you lord for this great podcast and all the fellow listeners and father Mike !! I’ll keep all of you in my prayers 🙏🙏 I was just praying after waking up for a softened heart this morning !
I did not want to listen today, felt boring but I forced myself because I know satan doesn't want me to listen, but I wont allow satan to win, Please pray for me
Day 32 - Today we hear further of the plagues against Egypt & Pharaoh continues to have a hardened heart. I love the wax & clay analogy that explains why Pharaoh’s heart is hardened. Do I have a heart of wax or heart of clay in the presence of God? Lord, turn my hardened clay heart into a soft wax one. May I soften & humble myself to do Your will. I love you, Lord for You are love itself, & goodness, truth, beauty, mercy, & compassion. May I contemplate these attributes of Yours & seek to imitate them. Amen.🙏❤️
2-1-24, round 2 . Prayers for all especially our family and friends whose hearts are hardened by the world. May our Lord shower graces for them to softentheir hearts and come back to the one true catholic apostolic church.🙏🙏🙏
Dear Father God, I thank You. 🙏I praise You,🙏 for You are worthy of all praise. I am Your child, & You love me inspite of my flaws and weaknesses ...teach me to do your will... for YOU are GOD OF EVERYTHING 🙏help me to forgive others as you have forgiven me 🙏i m soft hearted towards YOU🙏 i surrender to your will🙏✨Please heal me from the inside out and make me whole again. Amen Thank you Father Mike for wax and clay analogy, today I got deeper understanding .
Thank you, Fr. Mike; your comment, “Never let our hearts be hardened to the Lord; we need each other; we need prayers with each other to lift each other up.” Life can be really tough! We lose jobs; we lose those we love; we face many trials and then sometimes, we can doubt God in these challenging times. But today, we are reminded God is always with us and we are humbled, reminded “God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” May our hearts always be the wax in the sun and be open to God's mercy and grace. God Bless everyone and sending prayers for all! 🙏🙏
Holy Spirit, comforter, counselor, translator, please work in our hearts and the hearts of our family members and loved ones. Please call on our children and siblings, may they invite you in to abide with them. In your name we ask this dear Jesus, according to your will. Amen
I loved the core message that we must be open to whatever God gives us in life and not harden our hearts. We must be like Job and Jesus when it comes to accepting God's will. I highly appreciate the analogy of God work or the life situations being like the Sunlight and the wax being those who accept God's will and clay being those who do not accept God's will but harden themselves/deny God's goodness. How are we behaving and thinking about God when things start getting difficult? That's when we are tested. Pharaoh, despite seeing God's glory and mercy several times, hardened the heart due to maybe arrogance, customs, or societal pressure. Thus, allowing God's plan to be fulfilled. It was the same when God hardened the heart of the people who wanted to crucify Jesus. Thank you so much, Fr. Mike and Team Ascension! God bless you and the fellow listeners
Almost 10 years I waited for a convincing answer as to why the LORD hardened Pharoah's heart... Thank you Fr. Mike. I can finally erase the ? I had put in the space alongside that sentence. Thank. God is so good.
Wow! Thank you so much Father Mike! I honestly thought God himself hardened the heart on some sort of purpose? It always made me think that God if the Old Testament was very rigid, colder but I am understanding it much better because of your guidance! A heart of wax--- yes! Lord, may my heart be wax and help me to not fear or feel I need to wall/ clay my heart. Blessed be ❤️
For Peace, worldwide, my Lord, the Peace of the Lord God Almighty that no one can take away through Christ Our Lord Amen. For the intentions of the sick, the suffering and their caregivers through Christ Our Lord Amen For the good intentions of all that we hold in our hearts, spoken or unspoken, through Christ Our Lord Amen ❤❤❤
Thanks fr. always wondered how or why a good God would harden Pharaoh's heart. Now I know its was the nature of Pharaoh's heart rather than God's doing.
I knew I needed to listen today. My heart was feeling hard with all the demands on me as a caregiver. Thank you Lord for grace to have a heart of wax so that you can melt me with your truth and love when I have become a hardened cold candle. Keep my wick of faith long so that you fire of love shines bright in my life. In Jesus name Amen
Today was a pretty rough start to February for me personally, but after listening to today's podcast, I already feel a sense of spiritual fulfillment and I feel ready to take on the rest of the month. As always, I am grateful to have this podcast and the Word of God to return to on good days and bad days. Exodus 9 continues God's plagues against Egypt. God has Moses warn Pharaoh that a pestilence will strike all of the livestock of Egypt but the Pharaoh refuses to listen. The pestilence arrives and God decides to spare the livestock of the Israelites while striking down the Egyptian's cattle. The Pharaoh remains unconvinced. Next God has Moses throw soot near Pharaoh to become dust over the land and create boils on people and livestock alike throughout Egypt. Pharaoh remains unconvinced and it is said that "the Lord hardens Pharaoh's heart." Next Moses warns of hail throughout Egypt but Pharaoh refuses. Egypt faces one of the worst hail storms ever and anything exposed is killed by the hail. Pharaoh admits he has sinned and asks Moses to pray to end the hail. Moses prays to God and the hail ends but Pharaoh's heart hardens again. I appreciated your explanation of the line about God hardening Pharaoh's heart, that line always confused me. It is true that we must open our heart to the Lord to receive the Word and grow. We must take care to avoid hearts of clay like that of the Pharaoh that prevent receiving and fearing God. Side Note: This explanation reminds me of Jesus' Parable of the Sower. Leviticus 7 shows more of God's instructions for the priests. This time, God discusses the trespass offering and how priests may take from the offerings and eat of it. God explains the peace offering and when it is acceptable to eat the meat of the peace offering. God discusses how only the clean may eat and that only clean flesh should be eaten. God specifies that the blood and fat of animals shall not be eaten. Finally God explains how to divvy up the breast and thigh portions of the animals. It has been said that the Sacrifice of Jesus Christ fulfilled each offering that has been listed in Leviticus thus far (the burnt offering, the grain offering, the peace offering, the sin offering, and the guilt offering). Thanks be to God! Psalm 49 discusses the limits of money. The rich will find it costly to redeem their souls. Their wealth is unreliable and they will eventually perish. As a result, we should not fear when those around us become rich as they will die and take none of their wealth with them. One line that sticks out to me from this Psalm is Verse 5: "Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me." Rather than focusing on materialistic things, we must have the courage to do what is spiritually right and in the context of eternal life, there is no reason to dwell on monetary issues too much. Day 32 - 2/1/2022
Thanks Father Mike. God bless you for enlightening us with scripture. You are great. Please pray for me. Have such a headache this night. Thank you so much. I pray we could meet you. Take care and God bless.
Father, thank you for sharing your heart with us, today, and every day. We love you, and all who are listening. We are all praying for you, and all the people listening to BIAY.
The disposition of my heart, does it balk at goodness, truth, mercy, beauty? Does it embrace it? God's plan was so specific and ordered in his plague of hail hitting only the places he wanted but skipping over the Israelites. His mystery is so great.
May my heart be soft like wax! Also, struck me this time how the people are instructed to be prepared for the sacrifice. When I partake of the Lord's sacrifice, may I too be prepared!
I like the scene and line in the 10 Commandments when Pharoah comes back, at the end of the chariots being destroyed, and says to his wife...."his God is God!"
Okay Day 32 of The Bible in a Year, Year Three. This year I am mostly listening to The Bible readings, deferring liturgy discussion to the Catechism in a Year series. Have a good year with TBiaY and CiaY!
I've always wondered why it say's God hardened his heart. I thought it was taking a free will and it confused me as to why. Thank you for explaining that.
Lord, Thank you for your continued goodness, love and mercy. Reveal our heart condition (clay vs. wax) in your presence (sun). Humble us where we need to be humbled so we can be molded and transformed by you. 🙏🏻

In my humble opinion, itt's such a proper analogy to reference the sun. In physics, sunlight behave simultaneously as a particle or a wave. The position we took towards the Lord reflects (soften or harden) our own hearts. Yet, Cardinal Newman profoundly said, "[let us] hear God speaking to our hearts and to listen for our mission from God."
Thank you Father Mike for another great lesson and teaching from The Holy Bible. Praying for you and all the others here. God Bless you.....Can't wait until tomorrow... Praying for all of us to soften our hearts for God.
Yesterday was a family funeral and I was exposed to someone with a heart of clay. Today I’m praying that this family member has a change of heart, one made of wax.
I guess what appalls me is how the Pharaoh can see the decimation of his people and country but will not allow a people to go because of PRIDE but why should I be surprised because I too have been prideful in my life!
I really liked the Prince of Egypt's demonstration in how God heardened Pharoah's heart. Although not historically accurate as Ramasees would have been dead for hundreds of years before Moses, it does give a good theory how they grew up as brothers and then as God allows them to reunite only for Moses to say that he is leaving again with the Hebrews, it's almost like God is taking away a brother from Pharoah that he loved so much and after such a psychological and historically realistic burden placed on Pharoah from the previous Pharoah, hee chooses to snap under pressure.
@13:26 Fr. Mike discusses the question: "Why is God hardening Pharaoh's heart?" "Day 32: Cattle, Boils, and Hail - The Bible in a Year" [2.3.2022] (was scheduled to read Feb 1)
