Loved the video and the Ark sounds great. I don't even have an orchestra library and learning the process of orchestrating.I'm 74 years young and excited to see if I can do this. There are a lot of libraries and they all have their great, ok and so-so features. But I like this type of music. Don't know if you'll be able to use this in a documentary, but doors are opened. Any suggestions to start out. I wish I knew what you already know, but I'm doing my best. thank you so much for reading my comment,, Benjamin.
I was listening to your demos on the Orchestral Tools website and loved them. To me this piece feels so well put together in terms of melodie, arrangement and instrumentation - it's just so satisfying to listen to. And it feels you really made the library shine. Awesome. :)
Enjoyed the composition, Benjamin. Nice work. I like how you arranged the Jerry Goldsmith “Alien” Brass progression into the piece. Thanks for posting.
@@BenjaminBotkin Ahh thank you! Always noticed that technique in film music but never knew how to implement it into music of my own. I actually didn't think it was possible to do in a DAW until now.
I have a question. I recently got MA 1 (SINE) and for some reason, legato isn´t working in high strings. It only can be activated in the first 2 articulations:Sus Octaves +Legato and Sus Octaves. In any other intrumenta I´m able to activate legatos in sustains and other long articulations but in high strings is not possible. Is it like that or a malfunction? Thanks
Hi Ben! I just bought this library during OT's Black Friday sale for half off. It had been on my wishlist for some time, so I decided to bite the bullet and finally nab it. However, I'm having some issues with it. I'm not sure if I'm just using it wrong or if the quality is lacking, but everything just sounds super muddy. I usually use NOVO from Heavyocity for my string libraries, and I tend to get a more clear sound. Let me know if you have any suggestions for external processing to improve the clarity. Thanks!
Thank you for this breakdown, really helpful to get a good idea of what you're getting. Would you recommend his over Spitfire's BBC Pro or core? Cheers!
Thanks! I do not have either of the Spitfire products you mention. However, I don't think these libraries really serve the same purpose. The BBC products you mention are intended, from what I can tell, to basically cover your standard orchestral needs. Metropolis Ark 1 is a pretty focused library on offering unconventional ensemble collections with a dynamic range between approx mf and fff. It is intended to BIG, EPIC, LOUD music. So it is definitely a specialized library, and is a product that I would use in addition to whatever library/libraries are covering my bread-and-butter orchestral sounds.
I have a big problem with the Metropolis time and delay of notes, I can't get the notes to sound in tempo with the rest of the instruments ... I think that not only is the long attack of the notes, there is a synchronization problem. I have tried to adjust with TRACK COMPENSATION, but without finding an exact number of ms, can anybody tell me? ... also I think it is not the same for all articulations, a headache, any suggestions?????
I've been a fan of your work for some time now. Enjoyed your analysis-discussion. Country pastor hobbiest here. I try to apply virtual orchestration in our church setting. I've picked up Saga, your work with Greg Howlett and a young tenor Craig. Thanks for sharing. Perspective-wise, I'd like to focus on writing for my Savior, and glad there is an eternity to do so. Again, love watching your work
Thanks for the video gentleman. I have a question for you. 1. How would you compare Metropolis Ark 1 vs Metropolis Ark 4, in terms of sound quality and usage. Do they sound similar?! Would be much happier to hear from you. Thanks in advance.
Hey Joshua! I don't have Ark 4 , so I'm afraid I can't speak on the differences any better than you can by listening to comparison demos and videos. Thanks for the comment!
3:12 on... this quiet bit is just gorgeous - I feel like I'm in another world. wonderful work!

Amazing library and most important amazing composition! your skills are great!
Thanks!
Wonderful composition. I love the cheeky low E before the final resolution, that's really effective.
This was my favorite demo of Metropolis Ark 1 when I decided to purchase it, crazy to stumble upon a walkthrough. Thanks!
2:10 Did I just hear O Fortuna (Carl Orff)? Very Impressive composition and walkthrough. . .
Excellent presentation... Thanks!!!
Gorgeous song, thank you for sharing!

Benjamin that was truly epic my friend.
I can imagine God shouting keep it down 😂
lol, thanks!
35:37 How did you do those string rips, where strings sort of gradually "leap" into another note? What are those called and how can I do them??
I'm just using the High Strings Legato Octaves patch and playing quick 3-4 note runs on my keyboard.
@@BenjaminBotkin Ahh thank you! Always noticed that technique in film music but never knew how to implement it into music of my own. I actually didn't think it was possible to do in a DAW until now.
Are you going to switch to the SINE version?
Great demo Benjamin! just like every other you´ve made so far.

Would the other arc series work/blend/layer well with arc1?

Yes sure. 70 ms for legato and 40 for shorts.

Into the Nebula or Carmina Burana?
Ah... I though something sounded a little Orff...
It's mindblowing! just a humble feedback from a noob.. I feel you could reduce the volume for the choirs.
definitly not well balanced sound need more equilibrum between high and low
