Hey Alex, thanks for the video. Safety and freedom, on the one hand, it weeds out the gene pool on the other it saves us from ourselves and all this to bring out the fact that life is short and needs to be filled with as few trips to the emergency room as possible. Best wishes for the New Year, blessings.
One of those drilling ships that you passed is owned/operated by Noble Drilling Corp. I worked on its sister ship until about 4 years ago. We sailed many miles during her inaugural voyage to her operating area but we never had a port-o-call in Tenerife. You're a lucky dude.
Wow, that's fascinating! Would love to know more and visit one of these ships. I heard they were there for maintenance. That Tenerife is maintenance port, is that so?
Winded Voyage They very well could be in for maintenance. They are probably there from the offshore oil drilling operations off the African coast. I’m sure you can find some of crew ashore and they may be able to get you onboard. The accommodations are very nice and the food pretty good too. It’s getting to and from work that usually sux.
I've been thinking of asking to go aboard. There are also floatels here. One of my yacht neighbor is a captain for the to and fro boats. He's been working in Angola, and is there again.
Great film, great roads and great views (might be even better on a motorcycle 😀). The leaving the marina fu - well there but by the grace of God and all that. The person who never made a mistake never made anything! Happy New Year buddy.👍👏
Kinda different without your son there :) Has he got the sailing bug within him now and maybe he found some inspiration for some new tunes during his stay with you. Safe winds dear chap x
Yes, I just saw him for the holidays. He's got the bug, but not for long periods of time at sea. He has some new tunes he was working on that he passed along. I'll fit them in soon. Best to you mate.
So when you crashed into other people’s boats, you knew you’d be back before they found any damages? I suppose that’s ok, if you were sure of that, but if I returned to find my boat damaged and you gone, I’d be calling the cops.
They were on their boats when it happened. When I got back I apologised profusely and the Dutch couple invited me over to discuss things over a drink and a joint. (Their invite offer:-) It cost me a bit (their wind vane rudder cracked), but all ended well and we are now good friends. I'll get into this in a future episode.
I did not know at the time if there were damages. I'm a firm believer in Karma, I do my best to treat people as I would want to be treated. I f*ckd up and had to do what was necessary. Best part was that they were really nice and we became friends.

I was at my brother's place during the holidays. A few times I wanted to belt myself onto his sofa and be safe and warm in front of the TV:-)
Another beautiful escape from the cold, mid-Atlantic USA. Thanks Alex!
Been watching the football games. Brrrrr...
Once again you have taken me away from the cold mountains, thanks.
Many thanks! Those roads are something else right? Hope you have warm and cosy holidays in your Blue Mountains.
Very beautiful video!!You´ve been in the paradise.
Paradise with the good parts of Hell. Cheap gas, booze and smokes. Great bars and clubs that close at 6am. And sexy people everywhere!

Ahh, very good. I thought you said you hadn't checked on the damages. Bad enough you tore your own boat up a bit.
