- As a community we have decided the best Weapons in Brawlhalla. So what happens when we all watch the Pros play in person are they gonna use the Tier list we so carefully crafted? Turns out probably not. They have there own interpretations of the meta just like us.
What weapons do you think are the best? Or maybe underated? I think Bow is OVERLOOKED completly tbh.

And also i agree that meta doesnt matter. But there are sometimes things that should be polished out by devs that could be potentially broken (risk being low, reward being high, when other weapons/characters dont have such option)
On a side note. I think i could reach some high place on a tournament, but i'll never be an actual pro or win a tournament, because of the way i play the game (my inputs)
I play kb + mouse, wsad to move, shift to dodge/dash, mouse lmg light rmb heavy and scroll for throw. But I dont utilize my space whatsoever. I use my thumb under my left palm to press shift for dodges and dashes (rendering my little finger useless). I use W for aim up and jump at the same time so i lose some options that otherwise could save my ass or grant me more ko's.
Its also worth mentioning i can face people at 2500 elo and be on equal ground with them. Not always since everybody has bad days.
Edit: The inputs also limit my gameplay in terms of what weapons i could use. Some key easy combos (true combos too as example but not all) can be hard to input, like on hammer or on guns, maybe gauntlets too.

Definetly agree I think the Devs somewhat polished out hammer. People believe it is gutted but maybe IMO its just more reasonable now?

My only thing I could say is prepare yourself for a stressful few days of learning new binds. I had to do this with fortnite lmao its the worst.
@@Vondakay hammer imo is polished now. As it should be. Its far from gutted, or if, its only gutted of its most absurd love, that is dlight. You have some more time to get out or to prepare a punish if the opponent misses their dlight now, and slight appropriately has sair hitboxing reduced. It kills extremely early, does huge dmg and is a move youll do 24/7 because its that good.
As for my way of playing,
i have a lot of hours on this game. I find playing using my thumb for shift dodges/dashes actually comfortable. Its just pain if i play for 4-5 hours without minor/major breaks, and that i lose some minor options that could be major rarely.

I would definitely have to agree with the main point, however, there is also still other weapons that are easier to win with than others
kindof a late comment but this video helped my perspective on the game and fighting games as a whole and it makes a lot of valid points i just wouldnt have considered otherwise, nice job man

Scythe was not the same as it was in 2019 nor the sigs, but I wouldn’t say meta is op but its influence on who wins each game is strong
I think thats very fair to say it makes me happy to see when someone does go against that meta curve or kinda find their own thing that works for them

When you look at the very top of players it does not matter what you pick as long as you practiced. Picking a character that is a meme has a big advantage of no one practicing how to play against it, we saw this from brawl to SMASH to Tekken 5-6-7. You can not compare lower league players to top tire players.
For example Tekken 7 has Akuma which is a ok character in top tier plays but def not the first choice for players (his too slow and no huge combos), while in lower leagues his the meta because he has a un-blockable rage art. Now in Brawl sythe is broken because dodging it is impossible for lower rank players who dont want to spend hours in practice mode to learn how to play against it and who dont want to spend days learning it. While in top tier its still used, pros also use others more or equally as much because they know how to dodge.
That’s bullshit, what you mean is good players are good even in bad picks, arguing that it doesn’t matter would be dumb tho, for 90% of 2021 the top 5 Eu players all mained val except for when the ninja hit pr5 for a few weeks, whilst meta doesn’t make any legends unplayable, you are more likely to do well with meta picks, that doesn’t mean you won’t do well off meta but there is a reason people (pros) complain about certain weapons and characters, the reason they don’t play them is because they are uncomfortable on them

The most played legends are very diverse there is no 1 to rule them all like you suggest and there never will be if the game is done right, like Tekken, super smash bros etc.
Meta doesn't matter at all. People call blasters bad but they're not bad at all. Stingray won a tournament on Spear while it's the easiest weapon in the game or at least top 3 easiest. Every weapon has it's weaknesses and strengths. If you can abuse the weapon you have optimally, you win.

true I've mained katars all my time playing this game (a lot of time) and I've never had problems with other weapons just being way too op comparatively. Sometimes there is some jank where people fall out of my strings where I silently contemplate if I should have just tried to play mordex. But I like playing katars and I'm happy with the meta.
And that's literally the only reason katars are so low in the meta, they're not reliable. In the next patch katars are going to get buffed just by fixing those drops
@Dan you either don't play katars or you lie, katars have dlight dair, the main damage dealer, sometimes jumpable, sometimes not, and dlight recovery, one of the 2 kill moves, uses to drop a lot. This is not reliable. And if no pro plays them, and every pro agrees that they're bad, maybe they're bad, they know a bit more than us about the game. If I can express an opinion, after this buff katars are going to be top tier and the things that shouldn't be in the game are nair true combos, which I hope will be the first nerf. I think this shows how little clue devs have about their game, they keep buffing and nerfing the wrong things
Katars are not gonna be op. The inconsistencies aren't their only problem and sure having nair combos is nice but this doesn't cover their blaring lack of kill power. It only makes the weapon more consistent. the devs know what they are doing.
@@purplereignin katars have inconsistencies and lack of kill power? Ok, then give nair true combos. This doesn't seem knowing how you're supposed to balance a game. A and lack of kill power won't be an excuse, recovery force has been buffed, night recovery has become consistent and after the next patch dlight recovery is going to be consistent. Also scythe has lack of kill power but I've never seen anyone saying scythe is bad.
@@ST-in7fo Katars nlight to recovery is dodgeable and scythe does not need kill power to be good because it is a weapon made to gimp and edgeguard opponents and get early kills that way, I'm not saying katars is incapable of these things I'm merely saying that katars aren't going to be top tier.

@@Odin.x. Fax his blasters are amazing. His Orb is really good too though. I sometimes find it difficult to play against bow, gauntlets and axe with blasters (because it can't punish 45° attacks) but Orb counters them easily. Orb itself is broken tbh
the term "meta" generally applies to the high level players, meta already DID NOT MATTER in gold, plat, dia, anybody below rank 2400
when pros get better and better and the game there is a skill celing that the game allows, until an innovator like Dobrein, like Pavelski, like Boomie, like java come to the scene that skill ceiling limits the players from getting any better
than what else can they do to get better if the player themself can't get better
they pick the BETTER character
biggest example of this that comes to my mind is Godly, he reached a level that nobody else reached in EU and became the top of the region, never even losing a 1v1 game, let alone a set, but as time passed now players are able to stick up to godly and challenge him on a somewhat similar level
now this is the part where your video comes in
brawlhalla devs are such devs that they continue to improve their games with new and new core mechanics every single year, first dashes, then wall slip, then stage overhaul, then weapon throw nerf, then visual accesibility then nearly completily deleting wallslip... it goes on
no other game would change their games core mechanics like this, they wouldn't dare, they would just put out a new game with new mechanics
but not brawlhalla, and as the big changes happen, the pro scene also shakes greratly, new people hone the new skills so it once again comes down to personal skill and not "how good the character is" meta does not matter in any casual shape or form, meta only matters in the pro scene
however in brawlhalla meta once again DOES NOT MATTER in the pro scene, unless they stop updating the game
if the game didn't change this drastically, LDZ wouldn't be dethroned by Sandstorm, Sandstorm wouldn't be dethroned by luna

basically what suits you and what you enjoy is more important than what is strong. So what if it's strong if you suck at it.
You worded that poorly, they don’t use time to win, they wait for an opportunity to parry because it’s a lot easier to run around than actually dodge+jump+drift read against people who know how to mix up and abuse those movement mechanics. This naturally extends the time of each match.
Edit: bmg needs to lessen the reward and increase the difficulty of sharking because it’s so fucking boring trying not to be punished on whiff because the map is too big and platforms resets all your movement options so quickly.
Also I disagree with this video in general, I believe there is a meta, but most definitely you do not need to follow it to win, though you will have a much easier time winning if you understand and abuse the meta

Sharking is when a player choose to cling to the walls on the side of the stage and refuses to come back on stage
Essentially they want you to jump off stage with them where you are more vulnerable

Nah gauntlets totally were top tier just Val isn't the most typical in Grands. Sword and Gauntlets are incredibly popular however

Guantlets for sure!!! FOR SURE ive seen lots of mentions about broken and ground pound and all sorts of tweets you know the deal. I still think its not a pick we see a lot in grand finals alittle refreshing.
If you gige me a character i think is broken and a charcter i know is very close to being straight up garbage,, i will always choose the latter. Why? Becuase it's always more fun when your percieved chances of winning are loeer than thise of losing.

Yeah people overrate meta waayy too much. The game is actually pretty balanced minus usually one really good weapon per season. The problem is this game has built a culture of crying and complaining

She may be… but the point is anything really can be the meta. However yeah at the time of recording I realized saying Val isn’t too meta is off. There’s other picks to substitute with but she’s definitely a consistent character.

I totally get what you mean. I played a good 15-20 games yesterday and I wanna say 13 of them had scythe? not like scythe is lame or anything but it gets taxing. If we played a diff fighting game like streetfighter I wonder if they get bored of facing Ryu all the time or something.
