  • I got up early and flew my drone to get a bit of aspect of remoteness. We were a bit behind packing up and Trevor and I were last to leave camp after I lowered tyre pressures and went back up the steep side to where Bruce got stuck the night before just to test them out a little. We were carrying a fair bit of weight so I didn't want to go too low and settled for around 30psi rear and 28psi front.
Anyway we were a bit behind the others by the time we got away and we stopped a few times to look at things but still had radio contact from the top of most dunes. Late in the day Bruce told us they were setting up camp and I estimated we were less than 10km ahead of us but in the end it was twice as far as we thought.
We thought we would see them over the next dune but were disappointed again and again and again.
We got there in the end but it was very slow going all day, with lots of what I call "Howdy Doodees" where you get a rhythmical bounce up if you are going a little too fast and your vehicle behaves like a massive see-saw tossing everything around in your vehicle from the front to back and visa-versa. If you do that too often things break in the end.

The V11 is part of my travel kit now, 6500 km and the only serious fall was because a dog bit my leg and held on and dragged me down. Fully recovered shoulder now, should have been wearing a motorbike jacket, safety gear is essential, I have hip pads if I need, and I use them.

Good video, thanks for sharing. how did you find the heat and flies this time of year, was it busy out there?

No the flies weren't that bad at all and the weather was mild, 25-28deg C max, and cold at night, we had ice a few times. Quite a few travellers heading West we had to keep an eye out and listen to the radio. One idiot coming the other way going way too fast nearly ended our trip, only braking in the deep sand pulled him up before hitting us head on, not many going east like us

Music drowns out the audio. Ditch the music

Yep, hopefully my editing skills are improving the more I learn and i can bring the music right down at the right times. I'm just doing this for fun you know? My 80 cruiser is hard to have a conversation in without music on a smooth road, and its a bit tricky trying to get everything recording right sometimes with no special recording equipment. For me it's more about the scenery and landscapes out the window than any of the crap we are talking about anyway, though I'm working on getting better at that so if we do talk you might be able to decipher what we say haha
