I remember reading an article many years ago, so long ago I cant be certain if Im remembering it correctly but the gist of it was, that after WWII one of the movies the Americans showed in occupied Japan was King Kong. This would have been about 12 to 15 years after its initial release but to the Japanese audience this was quite new and they couldn't get enough of it. I think it was called "Gorilla!" in the Japanese version.
And so, the story goes that the Japanese public wanted more of giant monsters tearing up cities and so the entire Kaiju genre was born. In fact, the name Godzilla is meant to evoke the word "gorilla" in one's mind.
Like I said, I may be remembering the article wrong or the author was talking out-his-butt because Ive never seen this discussed elsewhere before.
I welcome anyone else's comment on this if they know something more.

And I'm the only one that notices the gorilla has Gigantor's collar tunic, belt and rocket pack straps.

Strange! Those white painted areas resemble that of a popular robot way back in the late 60s to 70s.

Yes, kind of a Gigantor, ultra man thing going on there.

Hello. Could I send some pictures of a robot I recently found at a flea market? I can find no information about it. Looks like a kit and some homemade stuff, my guess from the 80's.

You could upload a video file of the toy and list it as UNLISTED then share the video link with me.
Or you can find my email address on RUclips and send the pictures that way. I cannot post the email address here as spam robots will grab it.

@@Robothut I did try that first but when I hit view e-mail it changes to a little box that says "submit" that doesn't do anything. I'm not sure what's going on there.

These are quite rare. Is there a way to retard the decomposition of the plastic and rubber to preserve the function?

The only way to stop it is to keep the 2 materials apart from each other.
