Uppu Nellikai Amla pickle in brine 2

- This video gives the recipe for preparing amlas pickle in brine. This pickle uses green chillies, ginger and Lemon juice along with salt and oil.It is simple and easy to make .
Ingredients
Amla/gooseberry 1/2 kg
water 3 cups
Salt 1/4 cup
Haldi/turmeric powder 1 Tsp
Lemons 2 -4(juice)(use more for longer shelf life)
Green chillies 4-5
Ginger 1 " piece peeled and cut
Oil 2 -4Tbsp (sesame/til oil)(use more for longer shelf life) Хобби
I made it two days ago.. Stored it in bottles.. Tasted today.. Excellent... I used the same measurements what you told... Thank you so much Gita for the recipe.. God bless

Can this be stored for a year outside as as have got a good crop of it in our backyard.For a kg how much gram of salt would be neede to extend shelf life?
Awesome preparation especially about adding oil in brine.
You can add about 1/2 cup salt to it and 1 l water. I prefer storing in the fridge for longer shelflife

Hello Gitaji, I had prepared nellikai in brine as explained by you . This was sometime in March'2020. Happy to say that it has remained unspoilt so far.It has been kept outside.. Have been using this from time to time mostly for arachu kallaki. Yesterday I prepared a new batch . Thank you so much for this wonderful method. Could the salt quantity be reduced?
You could possibly dilute it a little, or else you can wash the nellikai after removing from brine
