I received one of those hugs by Paul back in 2022. We were in TN at a gathering where he was a guest. I was so nervous to get the hug. Tense. I had already been feeling anxiety about being there and my inadequacy. Which was a lie. When he went to hug me I said, "you don't have to!" Of course he knew that. But he did hug me and I was so tense. So tense. And he hugged me until my shoulders dropped and I let out a deep breath. It was such a beautiful hug. After the embrace he asked me a question: What happened that you feel this way? But! Right before I was to hug Paul I had eaten some chocolate pie. And chocolate makes my breath bad. We were too close and I didn't speak. lol. That is truly why or I would have probably poured out my heart. Thank you Paul for your magnificent hugs that calm a soul!

Paul you had such an impression me, and those in your circle like Brad and Baxter. I read most of your books. I’ve been absent from your group for awhile and just wanted to check in on you. I see the Bible as a book of stories just like the shack, it’s just a story . I just wonder if someone as intelligent as you seem had come to that conclusion. The Shack could be as real as The Bible.
