Key notes of the lesson: 1 inch sections, comb slow scissors fast, comb against direction of hair growth, practice thumb dexterity, top blade of scissor moves whilst bottom blade remains still, black comb against other colour hair to give contrast. White comb to be used against black or darker hair, do not take off too much hair, start with weight reduction then refine to desired hair length to prevent scalping client, do not be aggressive when cutting, use straight razor to tidy up neck line, keep the scissor and comb under control at all times, follow the scissors with the comb. Keep practicing!
The best thing that you will do in regard to light and dark, is to wear a white jacket. You just look in the mirror, unlock the chair, swivel it and you can see what's sticking out and where you need to work. The one haircut I'd have like to see getting done, was Niles, in Fraiser, in the early days of the series. That was the best haircut I've ever seen and it was constant for years, until Niles succumbed to what all men bow down to.
Thanks to your tips I've learned how to properly use scissors and comb, and since I start learning barbering thru youtube some my colleagues ask me to cut their hair...
Hello Sir, I would like to stand for the MEN to APPRECIATE for any HAIRCUT YOU DID AND WILL DO FOR MEN, especially THIS MEN'S HAIRCUTTING TECHNIQUE. BECAUSE I see that NOWADAYS clipper over comb technique had been spreading all over the world (ESPECIALLY undercut style). Therefore, less men at now want to get a scissor over comb haircut though they were handsome, young and elegant men!!!! IT'S TIME for THE MEN HAIRCUT AND MEN HAIRSTYLES to BE REALLY RESPECTED and CARED, FROM the haircut process (step by step), the various hairstyles (NOT ONLY CLIPPER STYLES), EVEN THE HAIRCAPE (LIKE YOURS) OR BLACK SHINY HAIRCAPE, ESPECIALLY I see that not only me but all mens living in the world NEED our hair to be CUT CAREFULLY AND BEAUTIFULLY, I LOVE YOU!!!!
We have a few videos up now with Andrew teaching longer haircuts. We will also be sharing some older content that used to be on our Pay Per View Channel with him teaching men's haircuts.
mukeshpadya1985 the head is round and the scissors are flat. Therefore the shears don't cut with the shape of the head so he has to take smaller sections. It might be easier if the scissor were bent but they don't make them that way. He cuts horizontal because the hair falls downy towards the floor using gravity to let the hair fall on the comb. Hope that helps.
We ship all over the world! Please check out our information on international shipping here: help.samvilla.com/samvilla-support-center/international-shipping/
He used to keep his hair very short. Soon after I posted this he fell ill with cancer and died in four months. I had been cutting his hair for 37 years. I really appreciate RUclips videos. His hair looked great to the end. I don't plan on cutting anyone else's hair! A lot of people cut hair at home to save the budget when they have a large family. But I certainly appreciate a good professional haircut for my hair.
4:56 - he says it doesnt "hug to the shape of the head" - i kinda still dont get it. why does he go vertical instead of horizontal. even if he went horizontal - at the correct shortened length, wouldnt the effect of going horizontal be the same as going vertical :S
Ivan don't be an ignorant he is famous the best stylist really talented handsome and he knows what he's doing because if you move both thumb and ring finger it will be a bigger pain can even cause you carpal tunnel
I hate scissor over comb. ...I do clipper over comb instead. idk I just have so much trouble getting the shears to do what I want then to do. it's not comfortable.
I do understand this frustration....I use clipper over comb because it is more precise for me. And scissor over comb is very hard on my carpal tunnel. But excellent instruction on the process of cutting!
It takes a long time to get scissor over comb right first of all to be a barber its not over night an a few mouths course will not do the job. try 10 years an you should be okay?
Anyone interested in becoming a barber please don't go on a 14 week training course because you will waste your money and it's not cheap, long term train for one year after that you should be able to work the chair I should now 35 years in the trade
alloneword154 not true, I'm studying hairdressing and learning barbering at the same time in the salon, this doesn't make me a barber, it means I am an adaptable hairstylist, my qualifications will be in hair, just general hairdressing and I'll be able to do men's and short lady's hair if so required
alloneword154 A lot of cosmotologists pretend to be barbers . it's like Soc's vs Greasers .. He used a (guarded) razor on skin on the nape area.. He may have a crossover license but if he doesnt, That's a violation. . It did have a guard on it but Cosmos are not supposed to put a razor on skin, Period. It kind of erks me because I studied barbering and most cosmos consider men's haircutting an afterthought, . They teach cosmos that "30% of your cuts are mens cuts so you should learn".. they consider mens cuts a waste of time because it only pays 20$. Yet they want to push the "Barber Movement' . btw I can always spot a 'Cosmo Fade' vs a "barber fade' Just a rant :)

Hi Andrew,
What was that tool you used to clean Dan's neck?
If a person like myself has diffusely thin hair is it better to do a scissor over comb technique or some sort of clipper cut?
I wish you would have finished the whole cut...
I am so sorry for your lost of your husband
@@patrickmccready6051 lol wtf

Thank you! My husband's hair is getting so soft that I can't use electric clippers, so this scissoring technique will help me so much.
Yes scissor is the best tecknic for soft hair but don't get carried away with it maybe best that a professional should do it if you love your husband

Iam from India Hyderabad
Hey Andrew, can that scissor be used for dry and wet hair?
He's using a "dry" shear. Which is weird, since it's a "wet" cut.
But there are some shears that can be used for dry and wet hair.
+bukaryu bonzai His hair is dry, bro!
+Araz Bennington the essential shear can be used for wet and dry..
sub 4 sub?
nice sir

The problem is that should the sissor touch the comb or not?
The blade of the shear closest to the comb can lightly touch the comb.
also what is the importance of picking the hair with hand for cutting it, rather than just using the sissor
great!
How is that not a green screen behind them
Ivan don't be an ignorant he is famous the best stylist really talented handsome and he knows what he's doing because if you move both thumb and ring finger it will be a bigger pain can even cause you carpal tunnel
We'll done,
a long dry shear will create more of a "chip" affect.
Sir I want to learn from u I am from India how much fees u charge from me pls I want learn from u
He really looks like Danny Edge
It's Veritasium's brother
I hate scissor over comb. ...I do clipper over comb instead. idk I just have so much trouble getting the shears to do what I want then to do. it's not comfortable.
MindCalmASMR I will teach anytime you're in the LA area!

Love you andrew! Big kisses you are amazing and talented some day I will love to know as much as you know about the beauty industry
It takes a long time to get scissor over comb right first of all to be a barber its not over night an a few mouths course will not do the job. try 10 years an you should be okay?
Sir your model look like. Eoin Morgan England cricket team captain. when he was teenage
He was too cute--I didn't hear a word that was said
👌🏻❤️
He looks like the guy from Veritasium
tht
than tuong bolero
Boy you messed him up
Shouldn't his hair be vvet? Cutting vvet hair seems easier than cutting dry hair.
Not for this kind of technique
I would never "use" a dry shear
Please sir don’t ignore me sir
Loving Andrews segment! He is so hot too. Lol
PG 🥵😊

Short men's hairstyling equals Barber.
Not hairdresser
alloneword154 wrong. Barber license is different.
alloneword154 not true, I'm studying hairdressing and learning barbering at the same time in the salon, this doesn't make me a barber, it means I am an adaptable hairstylist, my qualifications will be in hair, just general hairdressing and I'll be able to do men's and short lady's hair if so required
