    Key notes of the lesson:
    1 inch sections, comb slow scissors fast, comb against direction of hair growth, practice thumb dexterity, top blade of scissor moves whilst bottom blade remains still, black comb against other colour hair to give contrast. White comb to be used against black or darker hair, do not take off too much hair, start with weight reduction then refine to desired hair length to prevent scalping client, do not be aggressive when cutting, use straight razor to tidy up neck line, keep the scissor and comb under control at all times, follow the scissors with the comb. Keep practicing!

      The best thing that you will do in regard to light and dark, is to wear a white jacket. You just look in the mirror, unlock the chair, swivel it and you can see what's sticking out and where you need to work. The one haircut I'd have like to see getting done, was Niles, in Fraiser, in the early days of the series. That was the best haircut I've ever seen and it was constant for years, until Niles succumbed to what all men bow down to.

    Hello Sir, I would like to stand for the MEN to APPRECIATE for any HAIRCUT YOU DID AND WILL DO FOR MEN, especially THIS MEN'S HAIRCUTTING TECHNIQUE. BECAUSE I see that NOWADAYS clipper over comb technique had been spreading all over the world (ESPECIALLY undercut style). Therefore, less men at now want to get a scissor over comb haircut though they were handsome, young and elegant men!!!! IT'S TIME for THE MEN HAIRCUT AND MEN HAIRSTYLES to BE REALLY RESPECTED and CARED, FROM the haircut process (step by step), the various hairstyles (NOT ONLY CLIPPER STYLES), EVEN THE HAIRCAPE (LIKE YOURS) OR BLACK SHINY HAIRCAPE, ESPECIALLY I see that not only me but all mens living in the world NEED our hair to be CUT CAREFULLY AND BEAUTIFULLY, I LOVE YOU!!!!

    mukeshpadya1985 the head is round and the scissors are flat. Therefore the shears don't cut with the shape of the head so he has to take smaller sections. It might be easier if the scissor were bent but they don't make them that way. He cuts horizontal because the hair falls downy towards the floor using gravity to let the hair fall on the comb. Hope that helps.

    • @patrickmccready6051
      @patrickmccready6051 8 лет назад

      Yes scissor is the best tecknic for soft hair but don't get carried away with it maybe best that a professional should do it if you love your husband

    • @karen4you
      @karen4you 8 лет назад +12

      He used to keep his hair very short. Soon after I posted this he fell ill with cancer and died in four months. I had been cutting his hair for 37 years. I really appreciate RUclips videos.His hair looked great to the end. I don't plan on cutting anyone else's hair! A lot of people cut hair at home to save the budget when they have a large family. But I certainly appreciate a good professional haircut for my hair.

    • @mtnboy1000

      He's using a "dry" shear. Which is weird, since it's a "wet" cut.

    4:56 - he says it doesnt "hug to the shape of the head" - i kinda still dont get it. why does he go vertical instead of horizontal. even if he went horizontal - at the correct shortened length, wouldnt the effect of going horizontal be the same as going vertical :S

  • @nateapachuau123

    The problem is that should the sissor touch the comb or not?

    • @samvillahair
      @samvillahair  6 лет назад

      The blade of the shear closest to the comb can lightly touch the comb.

    • @nateapachuau123

    • @fabulously695
      @fabulously695 8 лет назад +1

      alloneword154 not true, I'm studying hairdressing and learning barbering at the same time in the salon, this doesn't make me a barber, it means I am an adaptable hairstylist, my qualifications will be in hair, just general hairdressing and I'll be able to do men's and short lady's hair if so required

    • @thesuccessfulbarber
      @thesuccessfulbarber 7 лет назад +1

      alloneword154 A lot of cosmotologists pretend to be barbers . it's like Soc's vs Greasers ..
      He used a (guarded) razor on skin on the nape area.. He may have a crossover license but if he doesnt, That's a violation. . It did have a guard on it but Cosmos are not supposed to put a razor on skin, Period. It kind of erks me because I studied barbering and most cosmos consider men's haircutting an afterthought, . They teach cosmos that "30% of your cuts are mens cuts so you should learn"..
      they consider mens cuts a waste of time because it only pays 20$.
      Yet they want to push the "Barber Movement' .
      btw I can always spot a 'Cosmo Fade' vs a "barber fade'
      Just a rant :)
