    If you run 2 1/0 gauge wires into the power of that amp it'll be just fine. Each 1/0 is good for up to 400 amps per 25ft. 4 gauge is good for 150 amps. That amp is gonna rock out.

    Pro tip #36: always zip tie your power wire to the exhaust. Keeps the wire warm in the winter and adds 25HP. 😉👍🏻

    Looks like it's time to drop an auxiliary battery rack under the bed, run the 0 gauge to it to keep them topped up (as much as your alternator will, anyhow), and make some short runs of giant gauge from the amps to the auxiliary batteries. The extra batteries will be cheaper in the long run than like 20 20' runs of 0 gauge from the primary battery.

  • @TheBrokenLife
    @TheBrokenLife 7 лет назад +7

    I think I'll probably be the only dude to say it, but I like the quality improvement of this upload schedule. Figuring out a wire run and installing it nicely, plus filming and editing a video (AND your other business obligations), is a full day of work and I feel that's what you've given us in the video.
    Maybe some guys can do it faster, which is fine, but I'm satisfied with what you've got going on here. Before we would have gotten a video JUST about how you're sizing the wire and how you plan to install it. This is much better. Good job, Doug!

    Jeez, it's pretty amazing, to me, how wire can affect the end result. I'm glad "big" car audio is behind me as a hobby. Now it's just working with what I have collected over the years, what I can afford now, keeping it small and SQ up, within the cabin.
    I'd have to win the lottery to keep up with most everyone here.
    Keep the videos coming B, no matter the frequency, although more is better, I need that daily laugh, but I'll take what I can get. :)

    2 runs of premium ofc, and stock cab grounds. Gonna have some glowing steel grounds straps. Also stamped metal battery terminals. 7k on a stock steel ground strap from the battery to the engine block, could melt the fuel line, and there would be vapors, and when it bumps, it could.... "explosion noises"

      zayres29 that sounds right, 1/0 is 50mm2 if i temember right especialy if its OFC it will defilatly take the current ^ with 2 runs of 0 hell be fine and have barely any voltage drop across the wire. Soundman can crank it without worrying

    • @jjmccloud
      @jjmccloud 7 лет назад +1

      He was either reading that chart wrong or it was crap lol. A single run of 4 gauge can run a 1200rms amp and barley get warm if need be. With 2 runs of 1/0 he'll be fine. Plus that isn't gonna take 20ft of wire. It'd be 14ft from battery to back of cab at most and that's conservative

    By the time you get the charging system , your gonna max the load capacity of the truck! Then the frame will bend , causing the fuel lines to crack, then the fumes will waft up through the holes in the cab that's also allowing the truck to flex making the nine tons of CCA power wire to corrode then short igniting ........" Mushroom cloud "......

    Isn't the fuse supposed to protect the wiring? If I heard you correct, you have a 250 amp circuit breaker protecting wiring that's only rated for 1600 watts. What's the point of the circuit breaker if the wire can still overheat and cause a fire.

      I don't think there would be a problem. Every car already has a wiring harness ran underneath that has 10-15 wires in it that are 16-18 gauge, so how would 2-3 thick wires in a loom be any different? I have only seen them get damaged from stuff like people running over shit on the road, off-roading, and people running it to close to the driveshaft or exhaust in the first place.
