Thanks for the review! But you actually don't have to go to Canda again for similar products in Germany. The Staedler Noris Erasable work just the same and cost only a few euros for a pack of the same size (and erase easier), then there are blue/red sketch pencils by Faber Castell and you can even get them as mechanical pencils from Koh-I-Noor. ;) Have fun sketching! (Love the bunnies btw, they are beyond cute!)

The Faber Castell erasables are really good and very easy to get all over Europe. I also just purchased a 24 pack of Staedtler bc I liked their colour selection. I haven't tried them yet.

are they really the same? I got the Faber Castell ones and they're just really poorly pigmented. I figures the col-erase ones are much more pigmented than all alternatives

So long as the color doesn’t have any gray or black in it, you can use Photoshop to remove just about any color pencil. Depending on the color and individual the removal process may change, but channels are typically your best bet to isolate black from color. RGB curves are helpful too, depends on what you prefer to use.

Col-Erase is propably most popular choice, but there are some other options if you want to try different brands: Staedler Noris Club, Faber-Castell, Giotto Stilnovo. They all make erasable coloured pencils.

I know col-erase are awesome! I bought a bunch a while back and now rarely sketch in graphite! They are fantastic as an under layer for mixed media! So much more colourful! Go get the 12 packs for your favourite colours when you can you will be happy you did! I advise using a high quality white eraser rather than the one on the pencil! But not completely erasable unless you push very lightly but not once it’s too dark. Still worth it!

The pencils not being totally erasable could also be a good thing because it forces you to pay attention to the lines you’re drawing and the picture as a whole. It also improves your speed because you cannot constantly go back and rework lines, unlike with pencil, where you can fully erase.

First I would like to say that you really helped me with drawing!
I started drawing than I was 6 years old and I also drew in a drawing School (I don‘t know how it’s called cause I am from Germany😅)
And since I‘ve been 6 I wanted to draw realistic people so I practised a lot and every week at the drawing school and I think I become good at it (now I am twelve)...
But my problem is the sketching so I decided to draw for 2 weeks“straight“and I want to learn how to sketch good first before I will draw more realistic stuff. So that I can draw a sketch realistic and you helped me so much with my sketching progression! So thank you very much (sry for my bad english)🌹

Hi, great and really helpful video!
I also live in Germany and work as an illustrator/comic book artist and I totally know the problems with with Col-Erase availability.
The brand "Prismacolor" is secured by some other company and a second product with that name mustn´t be sold here. They could rename it for the German market but I guess that would be too easy.

Paper mate has an erasable color pencil lead in .7mm. It comes in red, pink, orange, green, blue, and purple. They erase very well. The blue, purple, and red seem to be more prone to transferring to the other page, but it is nothing compared to graphite transfers. (I used Strathmore 200 series drawing paper. My mixed media paper doesn't transfer.) I sketch with those mostly. On some I use an HB or 2B graphite to tighten up and do some shading that turn out really nicely. Just another option for those who can't or won't buy prismacolor pencils.

I prefer sketching with mechanical pencils so I use the Pilot Color Eno ones the most. They also erase better. Only downside is that they fade even in a sketchbook, so I use them only for studies or when I‘m going to ink over it anyway. I really enjoy sketching in colour rather than graphite, but I‘m too lazy to sharpen pencils and I don‘t like my sketches to fade, so I still grab my favourite mechanical pencil with a graphite lead most often.

Jessy they’re on Amazon right now for $8.22 for the 24 pack. That’s a saving of $8.77! If you can get them, it’s a fantastic deal!
