i own this exact asus and it's pretty great. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone not willing to spend too much on a laptop. I'm an architecture student so i use it for image editing software, autocad, and 3d modeling and it works perfectly, plus video games of course.
just bought my alienware 18 with the same specifications for $1k... The price that you mentioned must have been the stock price. I would not recommend buying this laptop from alienware. instead look at the notebook forums. They usually have really good priced deals. Or heck you could buy one on ebay. 120% will recommend over any asus computer.

yeah I agree with you. Generally you will always get better performance out of a tower PC than a laptop and for a cheaper price. Really it just depends on your needs and what you want but you mainly pay more money for less power with a laptop than a desktop.
true,and the thing is its not so izi 2 move around a big gaming laptop,and even if u move it for a lan party or something u will be angry when u actualy tring 2 play a high game and u only get 40 fps on a 3k laptop,so why not get a normal laptop like 1k $ and u will be able 2 play some games,or even bether a pc,my pc cost around 1k$ and i didint fing a game that i cant play on it,ok maybe not all the games on full ultra but atlest i get more that 40 fps and its 2 time chepper....
Okay so $3000 was the MSRP of that laptop. you could easily buy a used alienware for a price of $1000. I bought my not too long ago with a dual 780m and a 4840mx core i7 and 32 GB of ram. Well now you might be saying oh thats completely useless. sli 780m. Well its not all that bad. I average GTA V with 45-60 fps. The good thing about this laptop is its upgradability. The CPU can be replaced and the graphics card can be switched to any laptop GPU. This means, you can switch your gpu with two 980m sli or potentially higher grade gpu. in addition, the cpu is a socket type, so if intel does release a haswell g-3 socket, you could upgrade that cpu anyday... But in all reliabilty and upgradability, I would recommend buying any type of clevo, because of the fact that you can install a desktop graphics card and cpu. (also contains g-sync, and a 120Hz laptop monitor). The price is alot, but it will average around the 2000-3000$ range. But it is worth the price compared to any laptops out there.
what do you mean? it's just, I had a new labtop, and on leageu of legends and csgo was my fps 3000 (at maximum quality). highest measurement was 6500 (at lowest quality). but 2-3 months later, it was the maximum fps I could get (to maximum qualteit) 2000. 6 month later, I have a maximum of 1500 fps at leageu of legends, and csgo a maximum of 1000 fps (at maximum qualiteit ). GTA V has a maximum of 220 fps, but if I play a game on my high qualiteit TV of 35 inches, my fps reached 150. for three months my fps not decrease and remains hovering around 500.
