      Kirk is finally having to come to terms with his deficiency of being overly loyal. I don't judge him for his decisions concerning his son because he's always had an issue choosing talent over tenure. I'm just glad the university made the decision he couldn't make. Let's call Bob Stoops. All is well, let's just move forward now.

  • @jasoncline1980
    @jasoncline1980 Год назад

    Kirk is absolutely correct this should not have been done mid-season it should have been done before the season! Brian could have been moved to something he has proven he can be successful at like like coach and moved someone better suited to be QB coach and OC. Brian might be a great asset but it wasn't helping him or the team in his current position and that was on Kirk for not being willing to make that decision and making someone else make it for him.

  • @marknbeckygoodell8763
    @marknbeckygoodell8763 Год назад

    Kirk Ferentz has done a great job as HC on many factors. One of them definitely doesn’t match the past HC, Hayden Fry, by placing/developing coaching staff, and building a “coaching tree”.
    I found the best question during one of the most crucial interviews of Kirk, was at 22:41 by the “Athletic”. Kirk has become extremely seasoned at responding and answering questions……but, during his answer, he exposed his mentality of giving up an offensive series, and punting the ball to the opponent, at nearly any mishap or 1 good play by the opponents defense.
    This mentality needs eradicated from the offense, and fight for that first down.

    I feel so badly about this. I have crazy respect for Coach, like most Iowans. But, Coach put himself, the program, and all of us in this predicament by hiring his son as part of the braintrust for the program. It's like fishing off the company ship; things might work out, but such behavior is frowned upon because of the fallout in the situations when things don't work out. By some standards internal to the program, Brian may have been doing a great job. But, for us to have one of the worst offenses in the country, YEARS RUNNING, says something completely different...and the conclusion is data-driven, and out in the open for everyone to see, week after week, excuse after excuse, evaluation after evaluation, reassurance after reassurance, commitment to change after commitment to change. Coach, please remember, the reason we stuck with you in the early years is because your teams showed promise and improvement, despite the W-L record lagging behind. With Brian, we're 7 years in, right? 3 consecutive years with no workable Plan A and apparent lack of Plan B. OPPORTUNITY LOST. 3 years in a row of playing with one arm tied behind our back. Enough.

  • @szargos
    @szargos Год назад +2

    You guys all hurt with his answers and are praising Beth. Sure, he put himself in this situation, but whatever, it is what it is. The reporter who asked if big donors had put pressure on her was spot on. If this is how she is going to operate then Iowa athletics is in for a big step backwards. Ferentz doesn’t win pretty but he wins AND runs a class operation. The INTERIM AD just showed up a ‘future hall of fame coach’ (according to her) and showed herself to be conniving schemer.

Also, he has screwed over the rest of the team who plays their hearts out only to get breathers for 3-4 plays. There are two better choices at QB dying to play but Ferentz lied to everybodyu's faces right here by claiming that hill is doinga good job. I respect Kirk but being bottom 10 in offense for three years straight is inexcusable. Sometimes the game passes coaches by and it seems like that’s what’s happened to Kirk when it comes to the offensive side of things.

    Mediocrity at its finest! Kirk's last words will be "Remember the Alamo Bowl" we won 8 games last year. Start Recruiting a QB who can actually play the game. Pay Parker more money! Stop playing nobody school's.

    Things Kirk said:
    1. Everybody will have a chance to play
    2. Game with NW will be tight
    3. Goes into detail of kid captain’s life-threatening health history. Meanwhile holds his players’ injuries in the dark like national security information.

    Brian could have been moved to offensive line coach, that's where he is best suited and most needed right now. Completely running him out the door is a travesty. Kirk doesn't deserve to be treated with such blatant disrespect. And all the people that say he should have fired his own son or shouldn't have hired him in the first place would be interested to see them follow through if shoe were on the same foot. And also you can't complain about how much coaches get paid when you sit around all day Saturday watching all these college football games enabling them to get paid the kind of money that they get. Can't complain if you are enabling the problem. I have watched less than half the games this season, I don't live and die with the lives of 20 year old kids and the drama surrounding their coach. It's clear they have been trying to run the Ferentz men out the door since 2020 with the Doyle scandal.

      ?? Hypocrite much? Or isn't this you, "Can't complain if you are enabling the problem.". Your blind support for Ferentz IS enabling the problem. Ferentz should've been fired ten years ago and has only gotten worse. He gets paid $5.5 MILLION/yr to stink up the place. He has gotten too comfortable and schemed to get his son hired as HC even though he is an abysmal failure as OC. He's lucky he wasn't fired here for his nepotism alone.

      LOL what??? NO!!!! It's arguably the best because Ferentz was content to keep driving the program over a cliff just to make sure his son got paid. He put his son's salary ahead of his job as head coach.

    Coach Ferentz, you are the Iowa Hawkeyes, to me, along with the team. My friend and I saw your emotion today after our 13-10 win vs Nebraska, & he thinks your upset about your son being "fired" & that you were emotional today because you know its your final regular season game at Iowa. His perception scared me with its potential accuracy. I hope hes wrong. I hope you see your own legacy as an Iowa Hawkeye as worthy of the fight to stay coaching the Hawkeyes until you cant anymore physically/mentally take it anymore(which i hope is not now). Remember Abraham answered God's request to kill his own son. At least you werent/aren't being asked to do that. Go coach! Stay!!!!!

    Kirk is a class act, he knows the motives of these clowns, Sure are alot of fairwether Iowa fans, for most fans they have never coached or been put in these tough positions as humans but all the sudden are experts on coaching and leading a program, this current generation sucks, all people do is whine and cry and think their opinions matter about things they know nothing or very little about grow up people.

    It is reasonable to assume that the Hawkeye fan base has the desire to remove the offensive coordinator. With that, an immense amount of blame has gone to the head coach.
    People of iowa should know better.
    Look at your own life.
    Sports are not everything so be very careful with so much hate.
    Do we remember when Tom Davis was run out of town because we couldn't get past the sweet 16.
    We are about 25yrs from a sweet 16 appearance
    Any idea that someone outside of Kirk Ferentz will be better for Iowa football seems pathetically wrong.
