The Spartan 3 augmentation process is fascinating if you grasp the basic science, and would seem much more repeatable and ethical. The augmentation that required "Smoothers" at regular intervals was not worth the trade-off though. The authors who laid down the canon of the Spartan IIIs really did their research. Myostatin suppression and bone ossification is something we are researching now.
Alpha and Beta Company did not have the need for smoothers because they did not have the aggression drug. Gamma only had it due to the almost 100% casualty rate of the previous companies.
@@TheAznWaffle The one example we had IIRC it was useful for a moment before the III in question dropped dead. An augmentation that is only useful in the terminal phase is dubious at best.
Eric Nylund has a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and a Master’s degree in theoretical chemical physics. So yes, I think we can assume that he wasn’t just pulling stuff out of his ass.
I always liked the SIIIs. The represented the state of humanity perfectly at that point in time. Desperate, ferocious, feral, ridiculously violent, and adrenaline personified. The SIIs grew up enjoying relative peace and stability while the SIIIs only knew war, chaos, and doom. To me, they were always ever so slightly more badass than the SIIs. And unlike the SIVs, they actaully showed respect for their elders (SIIs).
It's upsetting that we really are never able to actually see how fast a Spartan would move during combat. Theoretically, a Spartan could empty the magazine of a BR as fast as the chamber would cycle and make every burst land on target. The sheer potential of that is never shown.
There's an old sci-fi movie where the main character (name Todd) is abducted into a spec-ops supersoldier program with other 6 year old kids. There's a scene or two in it where you see them shooting targets like psychopaths, and anpther scene where a next-gen soldier (basically their spartan 3) ascends a ropeclimb like a machine in less than a few seconds. Can't remember the name of the movie
I think we sympathise more with the Spartan III's than the God like II's; III's were young men and women who lost everything because of the Covenant, their homes glassed, their families massacred, they volunteered willingly because of this. The II's were abducted before the Human Covenant War and used against insurrectionists who were once their very own neighbors, most II's are probably hopeful that their families are still alive; III's didn't have that luxury, so they were burning for vengeance, revenge for their brothers, for their sisters, their fathers and their mothers.
All this doesn't mke the 2's any less effective. Actually I think if the 2's had this revenge and had indoctornation in addition to the augmentations and training, the 3's would probably be the best breed of supersoldiers ever made by the UNSC.
@@Sanya6496 I never mentioned effectiveness, I just pointed out that people probably sympathise with the III's more than the II's, being that the II's never saw their biological families fall to the Covenant, only their brothers and sisters in arms, they were abducted early on in their childhoods, some as old as six years and were indoctrinated into their military career, that's a fancy way of saying that they were told that what they were doing was for the greater good, the II's became their own family, maybe even closer than they could ever get to their biological families, but the III's were older when they volunteered, there is a big difference between being a volunteer and being illegally drafted, the III's did this to get back at the Covenant for what they did to them, they didn't care about the UNSC that much, or ONI either, they watched their families be slaughtered and had their blood splashed in their face, but the II's were made to fight insurrectionists quite literally in their own backyard, they didn't have the luxury of knowing their families or even if they were still alive, the III's knew their families were either dead or suffering, this is what drove them to join the UNSC. I will say though, with the neural interface that the II's possess and with the communication network, Spartan II's were effectively telepaths and these links between them could not be severed or blocked easily, so if you as a Spartan II were to suddenly spot an enemy, every other member of their team would know exactly where it is too, or if a Spartan II were to die, the others would know and could possibly feel it, this may be an advantage over the III's, and maybe other generations, I do think these augmentations did make II's outperform III's, but there are psychological setbacks that probably also occurred, I mean, any normal human would be traumatized if they could literally hear their friend's sporadic last dying thoughts as they can also feel the sensation of their friend's wound slowly creeping over them because simply one of them thought of the other; think of that feeling, to know that in their last moments, they thought of you and they couldn't break that link until it was brutally broken with nothing but echoes left for a response, this must had brought on night terrors or even paranoia in some II's, perhaps even the night terrors and social disabilities in Spartan II's are shared because of these linked senses, it is hard to control one's thoughts once unconscious, stressed or approaching death.
I believe the IIIs are just as effective as the IIs, Gamma being the exception. I will always see Gamma as inferior due to their dependence on smoothers.
Forerunner armour was nanite based and able to adapt to various environments and tasks like the crysis suit. But organic similarity and AI dependence made it more vulnerable to the evolved flood, Ironically the more mechanical based less advanced MJOLNIR armour could fight effectively against flood through sheer brute force with less exploitable weaknesses.
I saw threads for merging the Nanosuit 2.0 and Mjolnir(Though this was before Gen III was a concept), and I found it fascinating, the person in that armor would be only taken down by Tactical Nukes and Glassing(Maybe consistent Covenant Vehicle fire)
Now imagine a spartan with a Nanosuit wich have complete the last subroutine and the suit become the spartan like the ending of crysis 3 with prophet . now imagine that with a mjolnir modified without shield (because he dont need shield) and imagine the spartan after that interact with some forerunner technology. the nanobots will start to f***ing interact with forerunner technology and start to assimilate that technology :0
The important thing to realize for all the Halo fans who lean on master-chief nostalgia a bit too heavily, is that the 3's augmentations are NEVER stated to be worse than the spartan 2's. as mentioned here, they represented a "quantum leap" (though perhaps referring to survival rate efficiency)...also readers of ghosts of Onyx will know they were designed to be better trained and even KURT called his training troop "the finest spartans ever"....the fact that they were designed in mass and they (mostly) were only given SPI armour doesn't take away how effective they were OUT of armor.
This, and the fact that it's repeatedly asserted IIIs like Noble 6 could probably be a match for the Masterchief. The IIIs were no slouch (maybe a small drop from IIs) but a primary reason for their casualty rates was that they were given primarily suicide missions that the IIs couldn't be given because of how costly they were. There's no evidence the IIs would have fared better in the same situation
"never stated" bro they were cheaper to cut costs. Not saying they were completely bad, just not as good as the 2s enhancements as far as performance (except a handful) it was only better in survivability, which is obviously important.
@@ajduong We're not talking about surviving a certain situation, we're talking about performance. It's stated that Spartan 3s missions were ones that NO ONE would survive.
They may be effectively the same augmentation wise they aren't psychologically. 2s are literal machines, whereas 3s are prone to emotional outbursts that can cause brash decisions. Emile is a great example. 2s are generally more effective warriors because of this, where a 3 may see a child losing their parents and go berserk and get themself killed, a 2 would kill all of the covenant calmly and strategically. It isn't all about who is actually stronger
For as much as I love the IIs, there's just something about the IIIs that make them my favorite. I think it's just the sheer courage, heart, and backbone that they had to do their missions that they knew they would never return from just because no one else would and for the greater good.
It's no wonder that I feel like if the SPARTAN-III program could've been the ultimate culmination of what a Spartan was. (At the time). They could've potentially been even stronger than the II's. Even better, even faster. They're disciplined but not machine like. What holds them back is they're age and their lack of resources, Aka MJOLNIR. I believe the way the III's were treated as disposable was a "gross misallocation of valuable resources".
No, MJOLNIR costs as much a frigate. They could never outfit that many of them. See the headhunters and Noble team as examples of what you're speaking of. SO they were used in ways to buy time aka suicide missions.
Spartan 3s were just buying time for humanity. Maybe we can delay this planet from being glassed for a couple more months or years, or hell, maybe we can kill as many covenant as we can so more people can escape and live on. That was the general idea behind the Spartan 3s.
DaManBearPig no. They cost as much as a frigate to train AND equip each. So think all the research and development money added to the unit cost of the suit, the augmentation, the training, the facilities needed for each of those. If you break it down. Each spartan cost as much as an old frigate.
I never understood why people thought that Spartan IIs augmentations were superior to Spartan IIIs. Just because one procedure is more invasive and risky then the other does it mean that it's more effective. The Spartan III program came about 10 years after the Spartan IIs; this is alot of time to discover more efficient procedures for augmentation. For example, here's an analogy; compare a modern day phone to one from 10 years ago, and guess which one is superior. The same can be said about the Spartans. Not to mention Spartan IIIs had tougher training regiments than each generation before. Therefore I believe that Spartan IIIs are more than worthy of the title of "Spartan".
@@Installation00 I never personally had an iPhone, but I went for a swim once and I didn't realize that my Galaxy was in my pocket until I got out. Worked perfectly fine though. The quality of the device usually depends on the company in question; Nokias are very sturdy phones and still are. BTW great vid.
I think that the best of the Spartans 3s are comparable to the best of the spartan 2s. With the the three squads of Gamma Company in Onyx fight on par and possibly surpassing Blue team(I haven’t read ghosts of Onyx, just read the descriptions of the battle and the descriptions of S-3 program.) I do believe that the next level down is where it’s gets a bit hazier. The spartan 2 were genetically superior but the S3s has a tougher training regimen. But the S2s were trained as spec ops teams and undertook missions that were on par with what Noble team and headhunters undertook I believe. Whereas the S3s were trained as more frontline infantry that were expected to die. However, this is because they were deliberately put in situations where there was an enormous chance of death with less than a 40% chance of survival and still completed their mission. So overall I’d say the average S2 is less effective then the average S3.
I would love to see a Halo Spartan III campaign. I know will say we had that with Reach, but no. Those Spartan IIIs wore the Spartan II armor. I want one SPI armor, with missions that require more stealth. Maybe a headhunter game. I picture like Halo 3 ODST, but a with a strong Spartan and SPI.
So, essentially Halo 3: ODST, but with movement speed, jump height, melee damage, etc. being more similar to Halo CE-3. Definitely an interesting thought.
I mean if they'd given them Mjolnir a LOT more of the Spartan IIIs would be alive in cannon; and them surviving would create such massive impact on the war that I couldn't even begin to fathom how much faster the Covenant would buckle under their might.
Jedi Spartan 38 Not at all, that’s like saying saying “dying is what joining the military is for” not to mention the same poor argument could be made for the SPARTAN II program, in fact it would be more accurate considering over 70% of the SPARTAN II Cadets/ candidates died during augmentations.
Makes you wonder which, if any, of these augmentations could be applied to the existing Spartan-II's. Or for that matter, which Spartan-IV augments could work on the 3's or 2's. Might be worth a video all on its own: Spartan Augmentation Reverse Compatibility.
@@Installation00 YESSSS!!! I always was curious if some augmentations "Stacked". Btw I love your channel, it is the epitome of quality content and I'm always giddy when i see a notification from you. Do you think you'd run down tech from other universes? Also, does "Spartan Time" "Stack" on top of their already insane reaction speed, or is it their perception of the world now that their reaction time was tripled?
According to the lore given in Halo 4 by the devs the Spartan IV formula is meant to work safely to on existing Spartan IIs and IIIs with some of the Halo 5 armor details talking about it (vaguely) However after the the main dev writing all this stuff from Halo 4 left the team before Halo 5 all of that was subject to possible retcon when Brian Reed started writing his own stuff.
A spartan can have his augmentations removed, take Randall 037, he got oni to get rid of his augmentations with the catch that he stays away from the service
I will always be a Spartan III guy. Yeah Chief is cool and all, but there's something so tragic about the IIIs. They had a life before the augmentations. They knew their families and homes, yet they lost them and the anger of that loss was used ad a weapon against the Covenant, and just used as glorified cannon fodder. Plus the fact they were basically teenagers yet still able to match Spartan IIs is just badass
I always respect that even though Kurt told them about the risks involved in the Augmentations during the Spartan 2 test implying that they would have to face the same risks each and every Spartan still volunteered despite the 'risks'
Totally get where you're coming from. Their sense of duty and higher purpose is envious. Technically speaking it wasn't really voluntary. They were orphans, they were 12 years old, they knew too much to be cut loose. It was Augs or Die really.
@@Installation00 My bad in the Book Ghosts Of Onyx it describes them all ''volunteering'' (Or at least they thought they were) though I understand that with their indoctrination their answer was almost pre-programmed
The Spartan IIIs truly are the most underrated of the bunch. Kurt even came to regard Gamma Company as the finest Spartans ever, and if they had all been given time for their augmentations to mature like the Spartan IIs had, they could have been as good, or better than their predecessors.
Gammas are still around. Lead halo last light, retribution, and divine wind. They really show just how insane gammas really are (also keep in mind all the feats they pull are all WITHOUT Mjolnir, either in SPI which provides minimal strength and speed boosts, or regular armor completely) this whole talk of S2s being superior is simply false. Truly, S3s are only behind S2s due to experience. But in terms of combat effectiveness they are equal to and in some cases greater than 2s. Fred himself even comment's on this on multiple occasions
I've said this more times than I can count but we NEED to see the III's more in the games! I know we got a squad of them in Reach with the exception of Jorge but I really wanna know more about Tom, Lucy, Ash and Livi. I love their characters in the lore and we all know that along with Noble 6, Tom and Lucy were fellow suriviors of the Pegasi Delta Misson which wiped out a force of 300 SIII's. And besides them, m'boy Kurt needs a lot more love as the man who helped forge the S III's along with Mendez.
Remember that time Olivia-G291 had a slab of lime stone fall on her legs, crushing both of her femurs and still held a sentinel in place and smashed it to death with a rock?
They never left their land, never retreated, never had the best set for fighting, for their honour, they never fall to the hands or betrayed humanity and always stayed loyal and selfless service, the true reincarnation of Leonidas and his 300 fellow Spartan
Spartan 3's were made to be expendable just to buy humanity more time. Headhunters for example, while normally not surviving their missions, can easily determine whether a planet gets glassed within a year, or delay it by several more years (or save the planet entirely) by going deep behind enemy lines and taking out critical targets. The loss of a Spartan 2 was simply not an option due to the amount of resources invested in them and the fact that they're the only effective thing humanity had to offer against the Covenant, so they would normally not get those type of suicide missions.
@@nightterrors2976 Not all Spartan-III's were cannon fodder, some were like the 2's, going on insane missions, with low success rate and making it out anyway.
The Augmented Eye is based on Cephalopod physiology. It would have some very freaky side-effects in terms of visual acuity and, more drastically, colour perception. They'd end up with "cuttlefish vision".
Seriously breathtaking video, just amazing how detailed and on point this analysis was and immersion was off the charts, made me feel each and every detail in my body. Thank you for your amazing contents.
The idea of tricking the body into strengthening its own bones in genius. And the effects of the smoothers, being unable to determine who your friends and enemies are during combat would be terrifying for the Spartans.
Great video. For everyone wondering why spartan III's were always portrayed as being less capable and weaker than spartan II's, (or at least up until this video has been put up) is for the same reason ships are 100km long, and the shield world trevelyan is now 300 million km in diameter, and a plethora of other halo inconsistencies. The fan base.
@@justchilling704 to certain extent yes. I would say Spartan 2 are the pinnacle of engineering too perfect though because they have to be this exact physical and psychological profile and they got pass selection and then actual training then the augmentation process and then even more training attrition rate really sets the reality there was less then 50 Spartan 2s and when one of them is killed well you got to think about replacements and the cycle restarts.
If the Forerunners had what they considered a super soldier how strong and combat ready would you think they would be? My guess would be they would be wearing any kind of armor above Tier-12 because that's standard Forerunner soldier armor and we can already speculate how tough that combat Skin is but I bet a Forerunner super soldier would be like a walking space ship with super strength, speed, and super advanced Forerunner technology augmentations they would be almost unstoppable in the field of battle likely needing weapons above megatons of destructive force that are constrainted blasts to stop them. Maybe a new quote saying "Forerunner super soldiers never die they just go missing in action." Would be pretty nice.
@@betaraybill1189 True, Promethean-class warriors also had significantly-augmented brains, being able to control and direct up to a million attack ships at once and the officer-types like the Didact being able to concieve of strategies in numerous dimensions As for the equipment of Forerunner supersoldiers, they could use things like War Sphinxes and Seekers, which could upturn entire continents in pairs.
Forerunner warrior servants on average were OP as hell. Promethean Warrior Servants were their supersoldiers and their battles almost went into dbz bullshit.
Great most detailed video as all of your videos. Would you ever consider doing a “Most Detailed” video of a Halo ring firing? What happens to the life in the 25,000 light-year blast radius?
i'm so used to videos like this just sort of dumping lore info, which in and of itself can be a feat wrangling together depending on how spread out the source material is, but you actually did _all_ of your homework, goin above and beyond. well done, this series lives up to it's name in a way i thought impossible on this platform
Here’s a really cool idea for a Halo mission. The Covenant have infiltrated a secret ONI base. Stolen technology from Alpha, Delta, and Gamma Halo alongside the Ark is located in the base. Blue Team are deployed to destroy the Covenant forces and recover the Forerunner weapons. After killing lots of Grunts, Jackals and Skirmishers, Brutes, Elites, Engineers, and a swarm of Drones Blue Team enters near the inner section of the base they encounter static on their huds and an armored face briefly appears and says “You demons have killed many of those faithful in the Great Journey. Without you your kind would’ve fallen. You humans continue to mess and meddle with what the gods gifted us. It’s time for your meddling to stop. We are the rightful owners of their gifts not you. I never got the chance to face you in battle during the Great War and now my chance has finally come. My entire family was destroyed when the Holy City was consumed by the parasite and destroyed on the birthplace of the Holy Rings. If you all want these gifts of the gods you all will have to come get them. And I will be waiting for you.” After the transmission ends the experienced lore fans will be yelling at the tops of their lungs when they realize that the being was a San Shyumm Prelate. The regular players are shocked and have massive goosebumps when they realize that was a new enemy never seen before in a Halo game. After Blue Team goes down an elevator they see through the glass that 12 Hunters, and 8 Serpentine Red Hunter Majors stand guard around a massive Forerunner structure that ONI designated as a “weapons container”. Blue Team also notices on their HUD strange Forerunner symbols that lead to some unknown Forerunner weapons near the bottom of the elevator and they notice a lot of The Answer SAW lmgs, Halo CE Magnums, ARs with underslung nade launchers, and SPNKRs that Fred says fire rockets like the High Five launcher from Halo 5. Blue Team is equipped with Jetpacks and they can sprint like in Halo 4. The Hunters aren’t op like they are in Halo 5 but they can smack nades out of the air and the red ones can doge nades being thrown at them and their shots can track like in Halo 5. But a few shots to the back or melees can kill them. Once all the Hunters have died. A portal appears from the Forerunner artifact and a Gold Hunter pair shows up with 4 Ultra Elder Hunters. The Gold Hunters use blamite canons instead of Fuel Rods. Once Blue Team kills them a final portal shows up and a Squad of San Shyumm Prelates show up with the leader using some kind of Forerunner spear. “You demons cant just stop meddling in the ways of gods can you. You destroy all the faithful and continue to attempt to stop our progress to the gold path on the Great Journey.” He briefly looks to his companions and then back at Blue Team. “Your kind is responsible for the destruction of the Holy Hierarchs and helped destroy our holy city. We have almost nothing now because of your kind. Humanity continues to be a thorn in our side. I can forgive and forget. The Sangheili that joined Thel Vadam are the scum of their race. But not all Sangheili are like them. The Hierarchs were fools to kick out the Sangheili. With their help we could’ve saved the High Prophet of Regret, killed that demon you call Master Chief, and destroyed your species and went onto godhood. Now I can finally avenge all those that were slain by your kind. Your deaths will makeup those that may have missed the Great Journey. Your time ends here humans.” Then he and the other Prelates activate their energy shields and they pull out modified Covenant plasma weapons. And after the battle finishes Fred and Linda end up very injured. Luckily the Prowler is still stationed. Kelly moves Fred and Linda into a comfortable place into the ship. And the Forerunner artifact. And finally zooms off to meet ONI. Fred and Linda are moved to a medical bay. ONI immediately dispatches a team to go recover the bodies and prevent others from snooping around. Then the mission ends.
It sure the first time is added sprinting it's when Halo Reach came out and seem people love it and dont have issue with it. People did have issue when Halo 5 out, because they literally just turn Halo like a COD Advance warfare with its silly feature by making Mjolnir have a booster and can jumping around like a ninja so unnecessary, literally just take the authentism of mjolnir armor it self.
Glad you brought up that there is a failure rate in the IIIs depending on how it departs from the genetic requirements. I do have to wonder what they do for the candidates of more advance age like Carter. The obvious theory that comes to mind is a strict medication that would suppress puberty till the appropriate time.
I would point out that the only reference that asserts that the Spartan 3's of Gamma are the "Finest ever" was the single instance from Kurt. I would also point out that just because it made them more effective those illegal modifications also made them more erratic and unpredictable, and hard to work with potentially based on the observations of Fred, and Kelly, and even Kurt himself.
Eye color is caused by structure, not pigment BY SHERRY SEETHALER MAY 30, 2011 Q: When first learning about genetics, we’re taught that blue eyes are recessive and brown is dominant, but what about green eyes? Also, what are the squiggly lines in light-colored eyes? - Tim Patten A: Eye color is due to the pigmentation and the structure of the iris - the part of the eye that contracts and dilates the pupil to control the amount of light entering. The structure is named after Iris, the Greek goddess of the rainbow. The innermost layer of the iris consists of tightly fused, pigmented cells to block light from passing through to the retina. The amount and distribution of melanin pigment in this layer is similar regardless of eye color, except in albinos. Because they lack melanin, their eyes can appear pink when light reflects off blood vessels. The outermost layer of the iris is mainly composed of connective tissue that is loosely arranged and melanocytes - cells that produce melanin. Within each melanocyte, melanin is stored in compartments called melanosomes. The number of melanocytes is similar in blue, green and brown eyes, but the amount of melanin and number of melanosomes differs. Melanin is minimal in blue eyes, intermediate in green and highest in brown eyes. Melanin comes in two varieties, brown-black eumelanin and red-yellow pheomelanin. Blue eye color arises because tiny protein particles in the outer layer of the iris reflect blue light. In other words, the blue color results from structure rather than the presence of a blue pigment, and the shade of blue varies with the density and cellular composition of the outer layer of the iris. Blue scattering occurs in irises of all colors, but the greater the quantity of melanin around, the harder it is to see the blue www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sdut-eye-color-is-caused-by-structure-not-pigment-2011may30-story.html
So this tricks a Spartans bones to grow and repair damaged using metal instead of regular bone tissue fuckingawsome so spotting threes are super soldiers in every sense of the word but it was heavily chemical augmentations replacing mechanical augmentations of the Spartan 2
I did think before that the S-III's were weaker than the II's because of the fact that the II's were larger, and had riskier procedures, I understand now. I personally think that the UNSC was desperate at that time, and with the announcement of Jorge being an S-II in Reach, I think we all had that though in early years.
So what were the Spartan-IV augmentations and why do Halsey and the other Spartans think they're so inferior? I know they were augmented as adults, but if their capabilities are similar, then what's the big deal?
The spartan character I created, out of three two were supposed to be Spartan 3s. I do an alien crossover roleplay tho, so the other was thought to be a spartan 2, until he lost a limb and didn't care, and we see his white Andriod blood. Wetland yutani making new weapons in light of the war, in a world where they coexist with the UNSC and Oni. Wanted to share it with others, basically I'm gonna make it an MCC mod, port some NPCs and mechanics from AVP 2010 if I can, or even earlier games. Even had boss fights and boss enemy encounters I wanted to do, like a bunch of android Spartans controlled by a wetland yutani made AI. Something you aren't supposed to see, that you get thru anyway.
I even figured someone who ran into aliens like newt might be asked to fight the covenant assuming the recruiter thought their parents had been killed by covies... Might make a more aggressive, quick thinking Spartan. Either way, I guess I need to know how these soliders hold up and are built, even if I am giving them new weapons potentially...
Loving your videos man! Is the Spartan IV agumentations any different from the Spartan III's? Have you or will you do a video about those agumentations as well? Sorry for any spelling mistakes. sir. ^^;
I get that this is for S-IIIs, but imagine if the superpowered primal rage kicked in during the Chief vs Locke scene in Halo 5. Or during the retrieval of Halsey against the Elites.
This may have been answered but will you do a video on the Spartan 4’s? You’ve done a fantastic job going in depth and it would be great to see them all
I know you have done a Spartan IV Reputation - Lore and Theory. However, I wanted to know when you are planning on doing a Most Detailed Breakdown of Spartan IV Augmentations?
On the subject of the nervous system augmentation, I'm confused. Do the crystals form a coating over the already existing nervous system to facilitate nerve impulse transmission, or do they alter the arrangement of the nervous system altogether? Or is it something else?
Little late but a biologist and physical therapist here, flipping the order of the photoreceptors in the eye to the outer surface might improve vision for a couple days. To then be burned out and quite frankly destroyed via malignant cancers and blindness due to an over abundance of UV A and B exposure. The entire point of the photoreceptors being designed this way is because air does not like to block UVA and UVB. Water does and that is why say the octopus has the “augmented” order in layering 11:35. This could never work for humans unless they never took off their helmets when outside risking even an hour of actual starlight exposure would jeopardize their vision integrity immensely.
The one thing I always question is: what would happen if you give Spartan 2 augments to Spartan 4s? It's said that Spartan 4s have significantly less augmentations than all other generations, and are only as effective as 2 with their armour. Take a Spartan 2s skills with the Spartan 3 augments and give them the gear of a Spartan 4, how effective would that monster be?
Spartan-IVs can't have the same augmentations as the previous two generations because they are adults and those augmentations can only be administered during the onset of puberty.
@@undeaddragon1158 They wont be the same, but they wouldn't need them to be. Just like the advances made from the II's too the III's, the procedures had less steps, stages needed, the augments the IV's would have undergone would have been advanced to the point where I would say a better outcome was had with again, less roadblocks and stages. Think about it, one of the main reasons children were chosen was not just because of their genetics being more open to change, but because of the ability to indoctrinate them. This crucial part became useless the moment chief went rogue, and was probably going to be scrapped anyway. In locke, buck and the others they had the advantages of haveing already trained and elite soldiers, that have done things in the war(s) close to what spartans did, or equaling them in peril. It was locke who drew up the plans to kill the arbiter, and bucks record speaks for itself. The other genetic and chemical augments would obviously be much more refined, maybe not needing a childs genetic dexterity and malleability to get equal or better results this time. Combine that with the vast combat knowledge they already posses and you have every bit the super soldier chief and the spartan II's are.
@@nihilityjoey the thing is, chief going rogue was after the creation of Spartan 4s. I'm sure their augments are theoretically more effective than previous ones (as in, costs less, have less risk, and a decent pay out), however I find it hard to believe that a person who has trained and faught since the age of 6 has the same amount of skill as the combat veterans we see in the Spartan 4s. Sure they're battle hardened, but they don't have the same amount of experience. Aside from that, there's also the sheer amount of Spartan 4s. They're made quickier, for cheeper, with more numbers than any of the other Spartan groups. And as we saw with the Spartan 3s, quality seems to be lost when your focused on rapidly mass producing super soldiers (look at the casualties and how long each Spartan was active in the spartan 3s compared to Spartan 2s). Idk, I think I'd be interesting to see the new "extreme" augments matched with the training of 2s and the armour of 4s
It’d be cool if a game was made where you design your own spartan2 or 3 and go through training with you group and could choose what group to join or who to be friends with if you were a s2 such as boing grey team or blue team and if you were a Spartan three and part of either B or A company then survive operation Prometheus or torpedo or be so good in training that you get taken out.
Whenever it comes to orion and s 3 augmentations I see it as a leeway immunity to prevent flood supercells from hijacking the nervous system or as both a star wars fan, considering the possibility with experimenting with midiclorian cells with the orion and spartan 3 biochemical components as to see if a midiclorian can prevent infestation of a sentient body from blackwing biological agents or even probably quarantining super cells
I keep seeing carbide ceramic used as the reinforcing material for bone (boron carbide, titanium carbide), and although ceramics are strong, aren't they brittle to some degree? Wouldn't the bones still be prone to fracture from blunt impact?
This will essentially make every single human being like that of the ancient pre-flood humidity but how do you turn a Superior being like that into a super soldier
Please do a video comparing Spartan 2 and 3’s detailing which you find to be the best overall. I heard some areas that you stated make Spartan 3’s superior (augmentations, superior numbers etc). But there are also intangibles, and history.
Just imagine if ONI found some Adam slugs from Bioshock. They could have even more effective, less costly, and much safer (for the patient) augmentations and operate on a wider selection of people. Just imagine having a crap ton of super augmented Spartan 5's or something who are stronger than any of their predecessors and shoot friggin lightning from their hands. That would be unbelievable
so out of the spartan 2 and spartan 3 augmentations which produced a higher peak efficiency? Did the bio/chemical augmentations that the spartan 3 receive surpass the augmentations that spartan 2 received via surgery? Or was it merely a different route that achieved equivalent soldiers? Obviously having a higher success rate and allowing more soldiers to be fielded is an advantage but i am more interested in the physical feats portion.
It was a means to the same end, with the exception of Gamma company. In terms of sheer physical strength Gamma produced the strongest Spartans, however they were unstable. Without their smoothers they weren't just a threat to the enemy, but to allies as well. Making Gamma inferior in terms of tactical combat capabilities.
@@JaiMikell I don't see anything that indicates that gamma company augmentations are directly stronger other then the drug that alters the frontal lobe. And to my understanding it merely enhances the Spartans aggressive response. I don't have enough of an understanding of biology yet to understand how the brain limits how much strength an individual has access to but the drug give to Spartans 3 in gamma company could bi-pass it. Not sure if that's correct or not but I could accept that.
Love this video amazing hey could we learn about ancient human strength and abilities idk if you’ve made one before but ancient humanity will be amazing

Ah yes. Human growth hormone. Here is a rare instance where my knowledge of halo lore and my knowledge of anabolic steroids comes together. This is what we’ve been training for.
AKlover there was a spartan III I forget witch one who carried Fred 104 to safety while the spartan IIIs entire chest had been melted open

My thoughts exactly. Most SIII's had an intense hatred of the Covenant because most of them had suffered in some way due to their influence.
SII’s grew up only knowing war from the time they were kidnapped as kids. they were raised to be soldiers.

@@Sanya6496
I never mentioned effectiveness, I just pointed out that people probably sympathise with the III's more than the II's, being that the II's never saw their biological families fall to the Covenant, only their brothers and sisters in arms, they were abducted early on in their childhoods, some as old as six years and were indoctrinated into their military career, that's a fancy way of saying that they were told that what they were doing was for the greater good, the II's became their own family, maybe even closer than they could ever get to their biological families, but the III's were older when they volunteered, there is a big difference between being a volunteer and being illegally drafted, the III's did this to get back at the Covenant for what they did to them, they didn't care about the UNSC that much, or ONI either, they watched their families be slaughtered and had their blood splashed in their face, but the II's were made to fight insurrectionists quite literally in their own backyard, they didn't have the luxury of knowing their families or even if they were still alive, the III's knew their families were either dead or suffering, this is what drove them to join the UNSC.
@@Stratonetic Just pointing it out. I do agree with you though
I believe the IIIs are just as effective as the IIs, Gamma being the exception. I will always see Gamma as inferior due to their dependence on smoothers.
I don't think any of the Spartan lls give a single fuck about anything but each other, and war.

Imagine a situation where the *Nanosuit 2.0* was the undersuit of *Mjonir Gen III.* . Would be some unstoppable weapon.
ONI would like to know your location
Just kidding......they already do.
basically forerunner combat skins
@@ajduong
We're not talking about surviving a certain situation, we're talking about performance.
@@Jiub_SN 2s aren't emotionless though. They do express them and care for others and have done so in the past.
Could have been over 100,000 by by now.
Holy shit I completely agree!!!
On that analogy...
Nokia 3310s were indestructible.
If you look at an iPhone the wrong way the screen spontaneously shatters...
Another analogy to use is to compare a II to that of a 60's muscle car to a III being a 2002 Subaru
Nobody dislikes the 3's, but the 4's are weak sauce compared to either of them
I think that the best of the Spartans 3s are comparable to the best of the spartan 2s.
You know what, that's a very interesting idea 😊
So, essentially Halo 3: ODST, but with movement speed, jump height, melee damage, etc. being more similar to Halo CE-3.
Definitely an interesting thought.
"Spartans never die... unless they're Spartan-IIIs, they die all the time."
I mean if they'd given them Mjolnir a LOT more of the Spartan IIIs would be alive in cannon; and them surviving would create such massive impact on the war that I couldn't even begin to fathom how much faster the Covenant would buckle under their might.

*So...SPARTAN II's were the best of the best warriors of humanity. And the SPARTAN III's were... basically "highly effective cannon fodder"?*
2nd best, used as cannon fodder in suicide missions to change the tides. They have just as much right of claim to saving humanity as John does.

And I will be waiting for you.”
After the transmission ends the experienced lore fans will be yelling at the tops of their lungs when they realize that the being was a San Shyumm Prelate.

I have a feeling that like Witchers, no spartan has died in their own bed
I believe that Spartans only retire when they die.
I think when they are retired from military service, they are also retired from life.
Jun got retired and trained the spartan program 4
This is me listening to the insane amount of detail. 😮😳🤯. Awesome!
Ah the Spartan III's, my favourite spartan generation
Spartan 3s were pretty cool, but the unsc kinda shafted them with the equipment
These videos are amazing, thank you for all the effort!
Eye color is caused by structure, not pigment
BY SHERRY SEETHALER
MAY 30, 2011
Q: When first learning about genetics, we’re taught that blue eyes are recessive and brown is dominant, but what about green eyes? Also, what are the squiggly lines in light-colored eyes?
- Tim Patten
A: Eye color is due to the pigmentation and the structure of the iris - the part of the eye that contracts and dilates the pupil to control the amount of light entering.
Blue scattering occurs in irises of all colors, but the greater the quantity of melanin around, the harder it is to see the blue

So this tricks a Spartans bones to grow and repair damaged using metal instead of regular bone tissue fuckingawsome so spotting threes are super soldiers in every sense of the word but it was heavily chemical augmentations replacing mechanical augmentations of the Spartan 2
Question can a spartan survive having both spartan 2 and 3 augmentation or would it be to much to handle
III'S and IV's have their pros and cons, being able to distinguish friends from enemies is very important much as psychological stability
Loving your videos man! Is the Spartan IV agumentations any different from the Spartan III's? Have you or will you do a video about those agumentations as well?
Sorry for any spelling mistakes. sir. ^^;
22:04 Notices player nodding before proceeding to fire at the body... thats messed up :|
I get that this is for S-IIIs, but imagine if the superpowered primal rage kicked in during the Chief vs Locke scene in Halo 5. Or during the retrieval of Halsey against the Elites.
What is the super primal rage?????
In the Illegal Augments section, in short, super adrenaline kicks in and the Spartan loses control or doesn’t realize the damage they’ve taken.
I just finished Halo Last Light, and had to know more about Gamma Company. Olivia is awesome 💪
This may have been answered but will you do a video on the Spartan 4’s? You’ve done a fantastic job going in depth and it would be great to see them all
Just in time for Reach joining the MCC
I know you have done a Spartan IV Reputation - Lore and Theory. However, I wanted to know when you are planning on doing a Most Detailed Breakdown of Spartan IV Augmentations?
Love how Master Chief entered this convo!!!!
Miss falling a sleep to Spartan 2 augmentation
What happened to it do you know?
Could you do the augmentations of spartan 4s and spartan 1s?
Could you do a most detailed for SPARTAN-IV augmentations and the UNSC Infinity?
No you're not, i'm the president in that case because i said so.
@@capybara9521 i have a bachelors in cellular and molecular biology and a doctorate in physical therapy.
I'm pretty sure the augments the 4s got were just as effective. They didn't need to carry out the same procedures on the 4s to get the same effects.
Spartan 3 accomplished these feats with SPI. Imagine if they hit some next gen Mijolnir
This dude should have more subscribers
AWESOME! Great video man!
Finally bro I been waiting for this
Can we see a Detailed Breakdown of the Infinity class?
*ONI wants to know your location*
so out of the spartan 2 and spartan 3 augmentations which produced a higher peak efficiency?
@@thomasthatcher1873 If what you say is right, then I'd simply say Gamma is inferior.
Seems like the bone hardened is something that the Spartan ll could befit from
So what about the cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic augmentations?
Love this video amazing hey could we learn about ancient human strength and abilities idk if you’ve made one before but ancient humanity will be amazing
Surprised ONI let this get released...
They don't have a choice anymore. I answer to a higher power.
So ONI's elimination teams failed to eliminate you.
the enemies of the state are never safe

ONI answers to Installation00
Hey man fan of this channel, I would love you if you could release a version of this with no surgery footage😂😂 I’m way too squeamish sure I’m not the only one, anyway thanks🙂
is it weird that I got even more excited with viewer digression advised
All that is left is the Spartan 4 augmentation and then this series will be complete
Fml i started this, got to 20 minutes then woke up with a nasty hangover, now i gotta watch it all again
Ah yes. Human growth hormone. Here is a rare instance where my knowledge of halo lore and my knowledge of anabolic steroids comes together. This is what we’ve been training for.
Please tell me there is going to be a video on spartan IV. The glorified ODST as i call them
what books are about Spartans III's
@Installation00 could you post the script for the what it would be like to be a flash clone of a spartian 2 as a child.
Jun? An equal sniper to Linda? Almost sounds like Herasy
