I remember hearing you say that traditional craftsmen would have definitely used the most modern tools available to them once before. That point has stuck with me since I heard you say that. Can't tell you how many people I've met who needed to hear that.
Wow! I was bummed I couldn't make it to Blade when I heard you were doing demos, so thank you for taking all the time and effort to do it all over again for us at home! Definitely interesting seeing how you do things and your reasoning behind them.
I remember I was confused about how to grind the tip because I never thought about then I took some scrap mild steel and did some tests and then I understood it Its fairly interesting
Wish I could have gone! When ordering my Ameribrade I made sure to punch you and GB up for your reviews... Damn its a world better than my old homemade frankengrinder!
dam, kills me that I couldn't get there, would have loved the opportunity to meet you in person, looks like it was very productive for you walter....great video
Great tips. The machi is always a problem for me . Now I know how to do that correctly. As far as geometry, I have actually been doing right but for reasons I have and luckily I have been correct so to me it means I have the same reasons as the traditional Japanese swordsmiths/ priests. Cool.
Why not try going at a diagonal on the flat platten, when doing the top bevel? Seems like it could get the best of both worlds. Or at least somewhere in the middle, rather than doing it either of the other two ways.

Have you ever used a blast cabinet to remove the scale? It really works great!

I wish you had brought your guitar and laid riffs on people at the show as they walked by
Why do you always seem to grind with the edge facing up?
I have always done my grinding with the edge up. It's easier for me to keep my angles consistent.
Much as I like and respect Walter I don't have an hour to spend on something I already do. Sorry Walter
The title should have told you to not click on this video.
If that's the case. Why comment at all. Have a nice day.
