😂😂😂 so glad it made you laugh. Thanks so much mate we are having a lot of fun with it, can’t wait to see how it turns out. It’s true you can do a Ali set up with mig but like you say so much harder 👍
Can't wait to see this finished. Replacing one of them shutters with just a big window would look amazing tho. Especially if there's a sofa opposite it to sit and look out
How about a window covered by the shutters? Is that doable on a vehicle, can have them on homes. That way you keep the awesome look with practicality...and a bit of security.
My jaw hit the floor and stayed there when I saw what you bought! This is going to be epic,I knew nothing about these vehicles but have 100% confidence you will build something amazing out of her. I read in the comments the landy’s having to be sold, someones getting a unique quality bit of kit, how often can a buyer refer back to videos showing the actual build, hope you get the money it deserves 🙏💕
Thanks mate, when u said your jaw hit the floor I was hoping the next bit was you saying when I was rocking my new outfit 😎👌😂 yeah gutted to sell the Landy but she’s been a great little beast 💙

This is the first episode I've seen and despite the cringe fireman (lol), I'm subscribed. Looking forward to this build. Just a thought about the roller-doors: Why not make them like the fold up doors you see on a lot of work / touring utes in Australia. That lets you open them fully (you could still have windows, screens and fold down tables behind the door wing) and would give you some shelter if you don't want to put out the awning every time.
This is going to be the best build yet. Those vehicles are bullet proof and work well under cross country environments. This build is going to be epic. I’m along for the ride, good luck 🎉
This looks like it’s gonna be a fun little project, it’s a neat vehicle. Random suggestion: When you remove the forward facing blue lights, keep the mounting pods and find some LED units to replace them.
This is rad! Looking forward to this build a lot. I wonder if you could ugrade the turbo on her? She whistles pretty nicely as is. I know Jon will appreciate the roar of the old mud moving lorries like I do when they are under load 😀 You'll be ready for the Dakar with this bad boy!
😂😂 yep definitely mate, apparently there is an aftermarket turbo but them would also need to change radiator and install an oil cooler to keep it cool 👍

You should do white on the top to help keep down the heat ( black tops make for a hot interior ) are landy came with a black top ( looked cool ) but after two trips in the summer heat we painted are top white , MADE a big difference on the interior heat . NOW this should definitely make johns love of equipment dreams come true . And Jess looked to be having a blast driving it as well . what a awesome rig , looking forward to seeing this build . Cheers from Steve Stott in Sutherlin Oregon U.S.A. :) :) ⛑🚒 😎🍻👍🏼😁.
Welcome home Nice rig, but very surprised that they let you drive it home with the blues still on it On the back, in place of the shutter, I would beef it up so that you can hang a spare wheel (or two) on there 19:00 - you can use MIG on Aluminium (and Stainless Steel), just need to swap out the wire and in some case the gas. For the TIG machine, I would invest in the pedal, as it gives you way more control over the "heat", if it starts to blow through you can ease up and it will turn the torch power down. Also you can position the torch with no worry of an arc and then use the pedal to start
Yeah I thought the blue lights were naughty but all the sirens and that have been disconnected, Yeah I used to have a mig with a liner in to do ally and I also tried a spool gun too, both worked really well but still not ideal, Yep gonna order a pedal mate, glad I’ve tried without the as I now realise why it’s needed especially at the end of the weld 👍👍
Great video again, this will be a good build, but I think the shutters are a feature that need to be kept well at least some of it, there must be a way to have your windows there and weather seal the rest with a clear resin or something? Just an idea. Oh and Jon loved your sexy bungee braces there really is nothing a bungee can’t do. Jess is a lucky lady 😂
You missed a trick John. *YOU CAN WELD ALUMINIUM WITH A MIG WELDER* Two ways - either spool gun or normal gun with a teflon liner inside - You must use AL5 5356 wire which has 5% magnesium for added strength. Its a lot easier and faster than TIG welding Ali. Good luck with it all
Cheers mate, Yeah I used to have both actually , the Teflon liner was a bit of a pain as it worked ok but used to snag the wire quite allot so had to mess about re feeding through a fair bit, then had a spool gun which was much better but still can’t get a great finish so sold them and went for the tig, I was gonna mention it but I thought allot of people would of got bored me going on about all that 😂, 👍
I won’t lie I’m very jealous , pinz are my dream trucks , I used to have a 101 landy and when sold was looking for a 716 gs pinz but they just keep getting more expensive , sadly it’s a big lottery win is the only chance now , it the best truck on the market for off-road go mostly anywhere , if you have the money 👍🙂
Can’t believe you bought a pinny, I used one for years in the Isle of Man fire service. John says they are the most capable off road, to be honest you have no idea how good off road they are! So good it’s mind bending, looking forward to this built. Nice one 👍
The "Pinzgau" is a mountainous region of Austria, part of an old system of counties, with Zell am See the main city. Pinzgauer cattle were bred there. And the Pinzgauer military and utility vehicles were produced there too.
Yes! Love a Pinz! Can't wait to see this build develop. The tube chassis/portals makes for excellent off road ability, but it is quite a complicated set up. You'll need to make sure that the multitude of seals/gaskets are in good nick. I'm also going to be fascinated to see how you tackle the pop-top, which I think is 100% necessary. Quite an engineering challenge. But I know you'll work it out. Best thing about you being back in a build phase? Bring on the TTTs! 😂 I'd like to see someone tackle an engine/transmission swap on a Pinz, but maybe not for a camper, more for a comp. truck. If you're going to be tackling remote places, someone that'll run on cat piss and can be fixed with a hammer and chisel may be more appropriate. Really looking forward to this one guys. Off to have a cold shower now. Couldn't feel the waft from that fire beater 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 👍👍 Yeah so dale was telling me how the diff locks work etc and how to see if they are leaking, he has replaced the seals tho so hopefully good for a while yet 👍, yeah too pop top is going to be an interesting one for sure but looking forward to the challenge,
So exciting and it’s nice to see the More Modern Pinzgauer. My old 1972 710m was air cooled carburated and very loud no power steering and manual gearbox with drum brakes ! Cheers and great video. :)
The thing with having a bonnet to house the engine is that everything can be brought forward. You don't need a big cab because the engine isn't sitting with you. Your feet can stretch out further with a conventional setup, too, so you get to your destination without feeling like you've just gone 5 rounds with the giant haystack. 13:15, you can clearly see the difference in cab sizes. The fire truck has an almost double size window, so there's the clear drawback between the lanny and the truck. Plus, the engine out front on a truck looks all kinds of macho. But that's my opinion, I just prefer the look of a peterbilt to a cabover daf.
Another great video guys love the Pinzgauer looking forward to the build on this one with fireman John may need more clothes on welding Aluminium . Jess can’t wait for the interior design and fit out all the best.
Looked like Jess was about to address the people 👑 & Jon is there no limit to your talent, I can see a calendar coming out alongside your cookbook 😉 I can't wait to see what you do with this beauty. Good luck guys 🍀
Excellent choice of vehicle, Love these things!. They replaced the Land Rover FC 101 in the British Army. They're just a little compact in the cab when you're over a certain height 😂..... but then so is a Defender. Looking forward to this build out 👍
Thanks very much, we were surprised by the cab actually that Jon could fit so much more comfortably than the Landy but definitely not luxury or spacious by any stretch of the imagination 😂😂
Going in for a major surgery soon with extended rehab to follow. I’m so frickin’ excited to know I’ll be watching this build while in recovery. Best of luck. Love, love your videos.❤
What a great project. For the roof have you thought about a lifting roof on gas struts and a canvas side wall this will give you so much more head room in living space.
Can't wait to see the outcome of this epic build. Jon was at his best with the fireman outfit. Jess, you look pretty amazing if that's what old age does for you ❤❤

Thanks mate, so this one’s not an iom one it was stationed at dulverton down south, Been to IOM a few times, love it over there, went on the bike last time, wish I was there at the minute for the tt
Hello both, good to see that you a back home safely!! what a monster of a truck! This is going to be a great project and so interesting to see what you will find, and removing to adapt to make it into a camper?? Best wishes from Lincolnshire!
Love seeing that you have a new vehicle to convert and can't wait to see the build! I can't see why they wouldn't let you in the fire service, perfect fit you are 🤣 couldn't you leave the slide hatches on and put your windows in behind somehow? Then instead of having curtains inside you could just pull down those at night to cover the window, also they are good to protect it when you're parked up somewhere too!
I thought that i had missed an episode when I see that you were at your home in the UK. Its great to see that you both arrived home safe and well. Looking forward to the new build. Have a great week. 💐
Wicked really looking forward to this build, Jon will need them special tools for this one. keep up the good work guys loving the effort you guys put into your videos to keep us lot entertained.
Wow, quite a challenge, with all that LiPo battery power make sure you get a good controller and a fire suppression system, RedArc for the controller and Eilde (Excuse spelling) Fireball for automatic fire suppression. I am looking forward to following your build. Thanks for sharing
Fantastic never heard of the vans but knowing Austrian equipment it’s going to be robust. You both have great knowledge and have great ideas on how to turn something into a work of art. Look forward to the re-fit.
She’s a beauty and going to enjoy watching the build on this one 😊 Got to say Jon that was the campest fireman I have ever seen😂 but glad to see you back in the workshop
Well big John the general must be a satisfied customer that’s all I’m saying Wow exited for this epic van build series that is about to start. Can’t wait Never even seen a vehicle like this can’t believe it Well done guys it’s gonna be mega
Beautiful truck! Reminds me of our 40 year old merc 508D with the engine in the cab and a brilliant turning circle. It was more like driving a lorry or tractor than a van. One campsite we went to the owner said to me “that’ll give you hairy knuckles driving that young lady !” 😂
This fire appliance was stationed in Dulverton, in Exmoor as part of Somerset Fire Brigade, later Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue. Once finished how about bringing it back to Dulverton for its shakedown? Exmoor is stunning and I'm sure you will enjoy the location.
I've never heard of this type of vehicle but that doesn't matter to me, it's all about the build and the adventure. Looking forward to seeing the progress every week. 😊
Looking forward to seeing it! Does seem a shame to get rid of all of the shutters though, they're pretty iconic for a fire truck! No way to keep one and make it more weather proofed?
Hi again guys thanks for coming back to me. I understand you must be very busy. Looking forward to the new build great idea. Just one idea for me. Would a tailgate be a good option on the rear it will double as a rain sun shield when up and if you, made some canvas roll up side that would shelter you even more just a thought keep up the good work regards Flipper
Cheers mate, yeah had someone message us who has done something similar, on the sides too like a safari hatch, not sure which was to go yet till it’s stripped but so many cool options 👍👍

You two are mental but we already knew that! Excited for this one it's gonna be a whole different kettle [of fish]. As someone who came in on the Sainsbury's van I appreciate and like the flashback story.
I don't know what you are planing for electrics but an ecoflow delta 2 max in combination with the ecoflow alternator charger would be a very interessting setup. It can send current both ways so the power station can act as an battery extansion of the vehicle battery setup. You can make a normal bord net with fuse box, including ports for winch, and air compressor. The systems will still function without the power station. Additional solar loading or direct from the grid are possible. Either way I'll closely follow your built as I do own a very similar ex Fire Pinzgauer.
Just had to jump in and say that we think you two are fabulous, you absolutely crack us up and we want you as our new besties lol. Going in for a major surgery soon with extended rehab to follow. I’m so frickin’ excited to know I’ll be watching this build while in recovery. Best of luck. Love, love your videos.❤
That sounds terrible Patricia, I hope your on the mend soon, keep us updated on how you are 😊💙
18:50 HELL YEA! Triple T's back! Missed that!
😂😂😂 me too
Now thats a vehicle! Made a few covers for the 4x4 pinzgauer's back in my last job. Cannot wait to see how this evolves in the weeks to come.
Cheers mate 👍
What a great project. For the roof have you thought about a lifting roof on gas struts and a canvas side wall this will give you so much more head room in living space.
Yeah this is one option on the list but the only thing with that is we couldn’t have a bed up there 👍
Ohhhhhh you have struck gold. Use to love these in the army.
Thanks mate, 👍👍
Looking forward to the build
Thanks 😊👍
Can't wait to see the outcome of this epic build. Jon was at his best with the fireman outfit. Jess, you look pretty amazing if that's what old age does for you ❤❤
😂😂 thanks Susan, I’m getting used to the look, might be only a few years off living with Jon 😂
This video is the first I have come across from you Guys. Great subject, I think Steyr Puch are a very interesting company and your presentation is first class. I’m really looking forward to seeing the conversion pan out.
Thanks very much, much appreciated 👍👍
Can’t wait to see this build, I would say it’s an ex Isle of man rig, somewhere you guys should definitely go to if you haven’t already been
Thanks mate, so this one’s not an iom one it was stationed at dulverton down south,
Been to IOM a few times, love it over there, went on the bike last time, wish I was there at the minute for the tt
Now that’s what we are talking about…. No Nonsense Hardcore To The Point Sort of a build. Love it. Looking forward to the build series 💪🏽
Thanks mate 👍👍
I knew it. What a machine💪🏻👌🏻 just one suggestion: grey would work better with red😉👍🏻
👍👍👍 would look cool 👌
Been watching your vids for a few months now, and I now get to watch and anticipate a new build as it happens, great stuff thanks guys…
Thanks very much for following along with us 👍
Hello both, good to see that you a back home safely!! what a monster of a truck! This is going to be a great project and so interesting to see what you will find, and removing to adapt to make it into a camper?? Best wishes from Lincolnshire!
Thanks John, yep it will certainly be an interesting one, looking forward to the challenge 👍
Love this idea, gonna see what we can do to keep them 👍
Pinzgauer 6x6 yes get in, love these can’t wait
Cheers mate 👍👍👍
This is going to be SICK! And thanks Jess for explaining portals....never really understood them 😄
Thanks mate 👍
I thought that i had missed an episode when I see that you were at your home in the UK.
Its great to see that you both arrived home safe and well.
Looking forward to the new build.
Have a great week. 💐
Thanks yeah we just shot home as we ran out of shengen days so had to be quick 🤦♀️ 😊💙 we were too busy enjoying the last of the sun 😂
John, the blue lights on the bonnet, what about leaving the housings and fitting LED spotlights for night driving?
Yeah I recon that’s the plan Gordon, hopefully get some to fit 👍👍
Wicked really looking forward to this build, Jon will need them special tools for this one. keep up the good work guys loving the effort you guys put into your videos to keep us lot entertained.
😂😂😂 well I suppose I’ll just have to buy them then 🤷♂️😂👍
Wow, quite a challenge, with all that LiPo battery power make sure you get a good controller and a fire suppression system, RedArc for the controller and Eilde (Excuse spelling) Fireball for automatic fire suppression. I am looking forward to following your build. Thanks for sharing
Thanks mate, we will be careful. Really appreciate that, so are we 😄
Fantastic never heard of the vans but knowing Austrian equipment it’s going to be robust. You both have great knowledge and have great ideas on how to turn something into a work of art.
Look forward to the re-fit.
Thanks mate 👍👍
Can’t wait for the new adventures to begin - what a vehicle!
Thanks Lee 😊
She’s a beauty and going to enjoy watching the build on this one 😊
Got to say Jon that was the campest fireman I have ever seen😂 but glad to see you back in the workshop
😂😂😂😂 I know I was pretty dashing hey 😎👨🚒😂👍
@@truebluetravellers very dashing yes mate
11:25 You have your biggest gear at the front and smallest at the rear and when going up hill smallest gear at the front and biggest at the back.
Yeah sorry I meant it only had a single gear on the front, drew it right but didn’t say it right 😂🤦♀️😊
Well big John the general must be a satisfied customer that’s all I’m saying
Wow exited for this epic van build series that is about to start. Can’t wait
Never even seen a vehicle like this can’t believe it
Well done guys it’s gonna be mega
😂😂😂 cheers mate, well what can I say she’s a lucky girl hey 😂👍
Loving the pinz they are amazing vehicles and can't wait to see what you do with her. Pop top would be fab addition
Thanks mate, 🤞 it pans out right 👍👍
Great to see the new wagon. Smiles per mile are the most important thing. Looking forward to your build and the uses you put it to 👨🚒
Definitely smiles per mile mate 👍👍👍
What a cool motor, the chassis is awesome. I've never seen anything like it. I can't wait to see how it progresses. Good luck!.
Cheers mate 👍
Beautiful truck! Reminds me of our 40 year old merc 508D with the engine in the cab and a brilliant turning circle. It was more like driving a lorry or tractor than a van. One campsite we went to the owner said to me “that’ll give you hairy knuckles driving that young lady !” 😂
😂😂😂😂 brilliant
This fire appliance was stationed in Dulverton, in Exmoor as part of Somerset Fire Brigade, later Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
Once finished how about bringing it back to Dulverton for its shakedown? Exmoor is stunning and I'm sure you will enjoy the location.
We were saying exactly this, would be cool to take it back to the fire station hey in Dulverton, someone sent us a pic of it when new too, so cool 👍
I've never heard of this type of vehicle but that doesn't matter to me, it's all about the build and the adventure. Looking forward to seeing the progress every week. 😊
To be honest we hadn’t either and then it just popped up one day 🤷♂️ it will be fun 👍👍👍 cheers mate
Looking forward to seeing it! Does seem a shame to get rid of all of the shutters though, they're pretty iconic for a fire truck! No way to keep one and make it more weather proofed?
Totally agree and looking at how we can keep them I recon 👍👍
Hi again guys thanks for coming back to me. I understand you must be very busy. Looking forward to the new build great idea. Just one idea for me. Would a tailgate be a good option on the rear it will double as a rain sun shield when up and if you, made some canvas roll up side that would shelter you even more just a thought keep up the good work regards Flipper
Cheers mate, yeah had someone message us who has done something similar, on the sides too like a safari hatch, not sure which was to go yet till it’s stripped but so many cool options 👍👍
Great choice of vehicle, can't wait to see the build unfold as you go on and get more inspiration for my own landy build
Thanks very much mate 👍
So Excited for this build, did you say where you are taking this beauty too when she’s finished?
Thanks mate, depends how long it takes to do to be honest but thinking Greece Albania or turkey maybe, or Iceland 🤔🤷♂️👍
@@truebluetravellers So about as decisive as My Wife Shopping! I thought you had mentioned North America. That would be Epic.
@@billybush1963 😂😂 yes mate we are taking the Sainsbury’s van to Canada at the end of the year
Wow, a Triumph Spitfire 👏👏👏😂😂🚀🚀🚀
That’s the last time I send pictures of tractors.
Great piece of media once again…
Keep it up (again) 😆
😂😂😂😂😂😂cheers mate
😂🤣😂🤣😂 Jon I roared with laughter!!! You made my day!!! Great to see a new build begin…. Now the ankle is bolted I’m back on my build (slowly) so it’ll be good to ‘build along’ with you. I take my hat off to you both, nothing phases you!
😂😂 glad to hear your back on the mend and back on with the build 💪😊💙
Whoo hoooo a new build. I think I almost prefer the build videos over the travel videos. Oh who am I kidding? I love the travel videos too.
😂😂😂😂😂 I think I like building more than traveling 😂
Yes TTT is back and what a belter. Looking forward to this build starting next week 😊
Thanks mate 👍
Hi you two, well what a great opening love it😂well done Jess. Well you’ve done it again and what a great choice a six wheel drive Wow. O love it and really looking forward to seeing the first video. Now Jon no order you didn’t get picked for the fire brigade mate
Your problem is your pole is to short🥴🥴 . Anyway thanks for another great video looking forward to the strip down. 🇦🇺 Jon WA 👍
😂😂😂😂😂 so your want more of a strip down, on it mate for next week 😉👍😂
2:57 is that a Haflinger in the entrance hall? There can't be many left, most were launched off aircraft carriers
Yep that’s the one, very rare apparently
Can’t wait to see how it turns out 😳 if its anything like your past builds it should be a stunner just like Jess 😃😘
😂😂 I just read this to her she said yyeeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh 😂😂😂👍
Can’t wait to see your build.
Cheers 👍
Guys your hilarious, that fireman bit 😂 Really looking forward to another build series, absolutely loved all the other builds. What a brilliant vehicle to start with. All the best.
Thanks very much mate 👍👍👍
Saw the outline in the thumbnail and immediately guessed fire truck! 🚒 Looking forward to the new build. Don’t let Jon watch The Full Monty! Ever! 🫣😂🫣
🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🖤🤍🤎
😂😂😂😂 he wants to be in it 🤦♀️😂
You two are mental but we already knew that! Excited for this one it's gonna be a whole different kettle [of fish]. As someone who came in on the Sainsbury's van I appreciate and like the flashback story.
Love going on your journeys from start to finish. Love your humour, a good laugh on a Saturday morning, looking forward to next build 👍🏻👍🏻🥰🇬🇧
Thanks very much that’s lovely of you to say 😊💙
I don't know what you are planing for electrics but an ecoflow delta 2 max in combination with the ecoflow alternator charger would be a very interessting setup. It can send current both ways so the power station can act as an battery extansion of the vehicle battery setup. You can make a normal bord net with fuse box, including ports for winch, and air compressor. The systems will still function without the power station. Additional solar loading or direct from the grid are possible.
Either way I'll closely follow your built as I do own a very similar ex Fire Pinzgauer.
Oh really that’s interesting, I’ll have to take a look at that, cheers mate much appreciated 👍
Just had to jump in and say that we think you two are fabulous, you absolutely crack us up and we want you as our new besties lol. You two are like a ray of sunshine to our week and we are soooooo looking forward to the next build # excited for you!!
