Yeah, I think they're better off without him- and not just because of the Nazi salute incident. I've watched footage of this song played with three different guitar players, and his performances of that solo are consistently the worst of them by a noticeable margin. It sounds like he knows a few pretty good lead licks, but doesn't really have a good understanding of how to construct a good solo- in the context of this song, at least.
