    I own a similar muck truck and it has a tow hitch. I use it to pull a builders 8x4 plant trailer up a steep narrow driveway into a secure storage unit.
    There’s a flatbed attachment and also a snow plough a available too.
    A very handy toy/tool to own.

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  5 лет назад +1

      I knew about the tow hitch, but have not seen the snow plough attachment, that is a great idea 👍
      We did consider hiring skip loading ramps, but they looked a bit dangerous 😱

    I have been editing this video on and off for months, I estimate that it has taken over 40 hours of editing to edit the 10 hours of footage from two HD cameras and CCTV camera footage, I’m relieved that it is finally finished 😉
    Hopefully, my future videos will not take as long as this one did to edit!
    Please like, share and comment if you can, as it really helps me out!
    I hope everyone has a great Sunday 😉

    I've worked in 'equipment rentals , sales and service' for some 44 years, and if a customer ever returned equipment , all cleaned and refueled like you show here ( the correct way )
    I think I'd collapse with the shock!! LOL!
    These are really helpful tools, thanks for showing this.

      I've noted this before in another on of UH's videos; He always cleans the tools he borrows before returning them. Likewise, I wouldn't hesitate lending him anything too... I'd probably get it back in better condition than what I gave it in 😂

    with 6 men and 4 wheelbarrows, 15 tonne could get shifted fairly easily and it would be alot faster than that as you just tip the barrows into the skip instead of hand balling it 2 times which will eat up alot more time. personally being a groundsman I enjoy labour intensive work and hate machines, as they cost a fair bit and when they break you are left with a fair bit of cost

    Hi folks. Couple of ideas. If your skip is big enough so you do not have to hand pack - and trust me, the pro's do not do that due to the labour costs - cheaper to hire a bigger skip or more than one - then a safe, solid ramp is a big time saver. But it must be robust and very safe. So, even better is a muck truck fitted with a high lift dump - we used one of these, along with a mini back hoe, to remove an old flagstone patio from the back of my hose to the skip in the drive. The flags weighed over 30 kgs each and had to be broken up to move. Used the digger to load the truck. Just took two people to move about 5 tons in half a day. BobUK.

  • @we-are-electric1445

    The alternative is to bring in a lorry with grab extension. If the lorry can get part way down the driveway and with a long extension arm there is a chance it may reach to the bottom of the driveway. That way you are moving the rubble a much shorter distance. It also does away with the mini dumper hire and the skip hire.

    They do much better more efficient dumpers then that.you can get a a quarter yard bucket on a track mounted vehicle which will fit through a garden gate and allso a hydraulic scissor action under the bucket that allow you to load the skip from the side and fill it tottally .you can also get small ride on skip loaders / micro dumper skip loaders that will reduce the time by a quarter and manpower by a quarter

    Last time we did a job like this, also for a neighbour, we hired a skip loader which really did cut down the time it would have taken to remove all old carport rubble. Took me no time at all to edit the video, because there wasn't one lol. Quite a few photos though of me and my neighbour with the obligatory cup-of-tea in hand.

    Wow that’s awesome. I have a question please. I’ve had a false ceiling (plasterboard) in my bathroom and the contractor cut holes and put in individual ceiling down lights, He cut one hole too big and now keeps falling out of the hole. Any suggestions what I could do to make the hole slightly smaller to stop it? I’m worried about the heat on whatever I use. Any suggestions, I would be so grateful 😊😊😊

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  5 лет назад +1

      This is a common problem and I have thought about making a liner in the past, so that it would also protect the plasterboard.
      You might be able to make some kind of reducer from an empty drink can (the aluminium can be cut with scissors), you could then use a grab adhesive to hold it in place.
      Thanks for the comment 👍

    Thanks for posting/editing. Sounds a ballache making videos👍. Would it be cheaper to hire labour to do this job. Maybe quicker too. Conservatorys are a waste of space too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. They are ok abroad because they have the appropriate weather.

    You got proper ripped off with the price of the skip, that is mixed waste price, if it’s rubble only then it should be half that, I only pay £110 + vat for a skip as long as it’s just hardcore or/and earth . Any timber I just burn. Also you can get a muck truck with a lift so you can tip it straight into the skip. Remember to tell the hire shop that you want to pay trade price, I never pay more than £50 to hire something for one day as long as I collect and return it myself.

    Our dumpsters here is the US are often charged by weight. So you might get a dumpster delivered for $350..but depending on what you put in the dumpster could put you well over the original $350. I've seen dumpsters that can barely load onto the truck from the weight of the materials..then you get a surprise bill for $1,000 over the original $350 plus you might get a hazardous materials disposal charge too. It all depends on where you live. No VAT however..what a pile of bullshit that tax is.

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  5 лет назад

      Blimey, if they charge by weight for removing hardcore, it would cost a fortune. Then the skip company crushes it and sells it on to builders!
      You are right- VAT is a con- as are most taxes!

    Thanks for taking the time to edit the video, I have not seen one of these barrows in use before. I can't imagine many people care for hire equipment like you.
    With regards to how long your editing is taking, have you ever looked at a StreamDeck? It may help speed up your editing considerably. They are marketed more for live streaming but they can be used for so much more. There are videos on RUclips which show other uses for them and it is worth reading reviews on Amazon. They are most likely going to be on offer on Amazon Prime Day if you want to save a few quid if you were to buy one. There is a really good video on RUclips about using one to fully automate your house combined with the app IFTTT.
    Also worth looking at if you don't currently use one is a gaming pad such as the Belkin N52te. They are use mainly by first shooter gamers but their use is almost endless. I have been using one for over a decade I would think and would never be without it anymore, It is just as essential as a mouse in my opinion. They are so useful and time saving for all computer work, I use mine constantly for just about everything on my computer.
    If you combine both/either of the above with the free open source Auto Hot Key you can really increase your productivity and speed things up. Again there are again a lot of videos on RUclips about AHK and gaming pads, you just need to use your imagination how they may be useful for you. Anything you do repeatedly or involving multiple keystorkes/clicks and mouse movements you should be looking to automate to a key/macro. The time spent setting it up will be repaid in no time at all.
    One very simple productivity booster I use with AHK is an 'Always on top' AHK which means I can just press a button on my gamepad and it pins the current window to the front. Press it again and it unpins the window. It is so simple yet so useful. If you want to try it out the following script is all you need and then press Ctrl+Spacebar to turn it on and off:
    ^SPACE:: Winset, Alwaysontop, , A
    Lastly, if you aren't using multiple screens, a minimum of 2, buy some more, the productivity increase is huge and well worth the small extra investment.
    I hope some of that helps speed up your editing, any questions just reply with them.

    • @ultimatehandyman
      @ultimatehandyman  5 лет назад

      Thanks for the suggestions, I have just checked out both of those items, but don't think they will help me at all.
      Recently I purchased a dedicated computer for doing the editing, which cost about £4000 including Adobe Premiere, it edits 4K footage perfectly (my old computer did not cope with 4K files well), but editing this video was painful as I was using the footage from two cameras, and some of that footage was played back at about 5X speed, which was causing the video to pause during editing (the sound was still moving and the timeline pointer was moving, but the pictures were not).
      Hopefully I won't be making another video like this one for a while, I guess it does not help when I keep the camera's recording all the time, but in the past I have forgotten to press record or pressed record and it has not recorded, and so I have missed important footage in the past.
      Thanks again for the suggestions 👍
