In this excerpt from "Mastering Marionettes Part 1: Design, Build & Animate," master puppet builder and marionette performer, Scott Land takes you through the basics of marionette anatomy.

    - Hints for optimal body shape
    - Ball-and-socket neck linkages
    - Fabric leg joints
    - The invaluable "Land Link" for ideal waist movement
    - The secret to dealing with tangled strings

Hey, randomly saw this video. I'm trying to make a Marinette that could be controlled with strings attached to each finger. What I would like for my Marinette to do is to stand on it's own, walk, make a fist, and release their fist. I had drawn out some ideas but not sure where I could start.

it does. but it is a short-string marionette. I had the pleasure of manipulating it at Scott Land's Las Vegas workroom. this class, through Stan Winston is a good investment for anyone interested in puppets of any sort! the same method could be used for a vent figure!
