Environmental campaigner and naturalist Chris Packham CBE has settled a defamation claim against the website Fieldsports Channel after it falsely accused him of writing a fake death threat letter to himself.
The online shooting and hunting channel has agreed to pay Mr Packham substantial damages and contribute to his legal costs as well as provide an undertaking never to repeat the allegation.

I believe it's about time we had punitive damages as they have in the US. Through punitive damages, these persons and organisations can be bankrupted. It will make them think twice before spouting lies.
The whole thing is Cruelty and abuse of animals and thank goodness Chris is standing up for our Wildlife and all animals.

@@MostlyLoveOfMusichow when there is a clear imbalance. Grey squirrels destroy our native birds, trees and red squirrels. Mink predate on rare mammals and declining species. Deer overgraze the forest floor. Stoats, foxes and corvids (as much as I love them) predate on rare species too.

Well a few mates of mine do a bit walked-up, rough shooting (all birds are eaten) and some clay activity, and I wasn't aware of this unbelievable harassment or the threats and lies directed at you.
These kind of people are wankers... They're really like Donald-Trump-types, and are extremely bad representatives of the country sports community. After all, in truth we love nature and the outdoors as much as you do. Sorry you had to go through this, mate.

Whilst I can’t agree with all your beliefs, patricularly surrounding the shooting sports, I am a great believer in trying to share the other guy’s view. You have clearly been subjected to an intolerable set of circumstances, not of your making. The appalling people causing you this harm have, I sincerely hope, had chance to reflect on their actions and regret the errors of their ways. They certainly DO NOT represent the shooting fraternity as a whole. Good luck Chris - I remain a fan and a conservationist.
