singer Rachel Hyman presents "Singing in the Dark: Songs from the Holocaust." Rachel has been producing Yiddish historical songs from the Holocaust in English so that more people could enjoy the significance of these songs.
From her website: "Rachel is the first artist to ever release a full album of songs from the Holocaust, sung in the English language and with a contemporary feel."

My name is
Rachel Hyman and I love to sing-
but not just about anything. I love to sing songs that inspire and that mean something. A few years ago I found a touching song that described specifics about happened in the Holocaust. I was shocked to find out that most songs that were written during the Holocaust have yet to be produced and available in the English language. Beautiful songs of love, culture, God, loss, life, family, hardship, and authenticity could only to be understood by people who could understand the languages of Yiddish or German- until now!
These songs teach, inspire, remind, and move us. I want to be able to produce these old Yiddish war songs in the English language so more people can appreciate the beauty and delicateness of these songs and glean from them. Almost every song on Singing In The Dark was written either in a concentration camp, a ghetto, or a prison during World War 2, and all of the songs capture the most heartfelt realities of what was going on in the author's mind at one of the most crucial, horrible times in history. Once this album is finished, my supporters will have contributed to a piece of history- the first music album of songs from the Holocaust to ever be produced in the English language. "
