    one word: Invincible!
    I have never seen anything like this before.. I didn't just watch a video of 2.36 minutes, but one of 16 hours, each of those consistent 9 years..
    Huge respect, sir.. _/\_
    Thanks for uploading this miracle.

    He is the one and only person i listen to and i keep his photo in front of me when i play tabla.I dont even feel good enough to say i 'play tabla'....NOT a single person other than him will ever reach where he has reached....NOT even one....I feel very sad that i was not even born when he performed....

      Note: Late Allah Rakha Qureshi observed Thirakwa's MACHINE hands at a Stone's throw frequently, and later told his son Zakir Hussain Qureshi / Dr(US, demonstrated 'doe a deer' song with 'ge ghe' ONLY on baya)-Ud(India, no Bharat in NON Vivek Ananda era) to make the 'tabla-luna'(hence Hindi Thirakwa nickname by his guru Munir Khan father, Kale Khan) his 2nd half / practical guru. Kolkata, India.❤

    Khansaheb has brought about the salient nuances of almost all gharanas in this short little clip in impeccable harmony. In just a matter of minutes, these maestros unfolded every bit of their wonderful music. It was like a magic trick performed in a flash! That is really mastery.

    Ustad Ahmedjan Thirakwa is the Lord of Tabla ( Shiva of Tabla) , all modern players are just trying to take wah wah, having very long curly hair and playing some dhirrrrrr dhirrrrr, , phirrrr, pharrrrr, phurrrr, . They do not have the tone, nor can produce the tone. ( Tone needs to be embedded in the mind ). Remember, Swar is the the soul of any Music. Appreciate players like Ustad Nizamuddin Khan, Ustad Karamatullah Khan, Ustad Latif Ahmed Khan ( Khalifa Of Tite), Ustad Amir Hussain Khan, Pandit Anokhe Lal Ji ( King Of Na Dhin Dhin Na), Of the modern players, Pandit Nayan Ghosh ji is just superb, Plays Tabla with the real artistry, plays Tabla & Sitar with the same authority. He has Swar in his play and plays as per the Old school. Also to mention about Pandit Swapan Chaudhury ( Art paar excellence, Kind Of Dhirr Dhirr). Pandit Anindo Chatterjee is just awesome ( He's a Man Machine). I am also a Gr8 fan of Ustad Zakir Hussain Saab,( King Of laykari), however feel his offlate playing is getting westernized & loosing the touch. Being a true lover of Tabla & music, I am expressing my views with a very open mind( Do not intend to offend anyone). All the names, I mentioned R Living Legends ( Icons) ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Last but not the least, A gr8 fan of Ustad Tari Khan Saab, His tabla tone is just impeccable, His spontaneous accompaniement for Gazal is just as mesmerising like Ustad Zakir Hussain for Tabla Solo, kathhak and Instrumental sangat. Also Tal Yogi Suresh Talwalkar ji & some astonishing Names like Pandit Kumar Bose, U all R living legends & I bow to all the legends,,,,. ....................Saab Ustadonkon ko koti koti Pranam,,,,,,,, just a small Prayer to all the living legends,,,,,, instead of going for speed, May U all Ustads & Pandits come together & create some Shisyas to take care of the Old heritage,,,,,, Swar, Naad & Nikaas,,,, The Relas, The Gats, The Parans with the traditional touch & Nikaas..... let the divine Tabla of our great ancestor Ustads live and continue

    1936. the poorest quality of video and sound. and still...just experience the magic...that's truly beyond this world. God cannot be everywhere that's why he sends people like AJT on earth and shows His TRUE Power. 'Incredible' world falls short of its meaning before AJT...

      They are not his own compositions and neither are they gats. He starts with short peshkar and then moves into an Ajrada kaida,following that moves into rela.Seems like you don’t know much about tabla.

    I especially admire his composure. Its not that he doesn't play with passion, its with respect and grace. Today's musicians do it for the audience mainly.

    • @mankind9074

      zakir is on top of the show off list and audience get swayed by the showmanship.

    • @kalibhatta1059
      @kalibhatta1059 5 лет назад

      Well put. The current trend is due to the general ignorance and weakness in mindset of both audiences and ‘top’ classical musicians today. Hopefully as the next generation of musicians’ confidence grows this kind grace and composure will be respected and sought after again.

    if you mean the syahi then you are gravely mistaken my friend... the tabla is nothing without it and your first lesson will be kinnar and syahi bol... However, Farukhabad Gharana is known for its fast Tirakit and Dhere Dhere (done on the 'black spot' with the palm) styles, so he has mastered it in his own right. Even I can play on the 'black spot' and I suppose most other students of other gharanas can play Tirekit bols after 2 years.
