France isn't colonizing those islands, in the last 6 years, there have been 3 independence referendums in new Caledonia, and in every single one, the majority of the population voted to stay within France. They are a part of France because they want to, not because they are being forced to

Seems like France has no business occupying a Pacific Island nation like this still and need to leave, I saw another video of a French man out here in New Caledonia complaining about how he feels so in danger driving around checking on his 'properties' and I'm like first off you're rich enough to own multiple places, I already don't feel much sympathy for you in this situation, secondly, that's the whole point. I'm sure that island is owned up almost entirely by French nationals, indigenous people probably have next to no real hold on the island that was originally theirs. Hawaii has been done the same way!

Colonizing brown people used to be the fashion of the days. Brits, French, German, Belgium, Dutch, Spanish, Portuguese, etc, all found their little patch of colony. That is no longer the norm.

I'll add that maybe the worst treatment the Kanaks received was from Australian sugar cane growers in 1800s who used to kidnap them to be slaves on the Queensland plantations ( not called Australia and not called Queensland in those days) .
