I appreciate some of the things Van had to say and I believe he is a principled person. He appears to be a smart guy; however, some parts of the interview cringe and displayed his arrogance, lacked vulnerability. For example, when the Coline asked him to explain his father having other kids. Van says something along the lines of, "nigga you know what that means." Later in the interview, Coline asks him to explain the culture of TMZ after he makes a particular comment, and Van says, "You dont know about TMZ?" It's annoying to interview a person with that type of attitude or approach. It's obvious he may know Coline on a personal level or knows she might be familiar with certain things but he appears that he failed to realize that his answers are not just to inform her but to inform an audience who may not be as familiar and knowledgeable. He is talking like we are supposed to automatically be knowledgeable of the things he is talking about. He appears to be very arrogant. Idk what's going on with Van but my suggestion is to loosen up a bit and maybe have a conversation not assuming ppl already know what you know. I believe he's intelligent and can make a positive difference in the world but his arrogance can create a barrier.
First and foremost this comment made my day, mainly because the depth of detail shows that you listen. When I interviewed Van this was the first time I met him. I did not know him personally on any level. I have been wanting him on the show for almost two years now. I think he has a very in depth perspective and I definitely would have loved him to elaborate more on the questions i asked. With that being said overall it was one of my favorite interviews for the season because it showed growth on his side on a personal level, it was very insightful and sarcastic. I did meet up with him in Los Angeles after the interview and what you are mentioning he carries off camera. I think he has a sarcastic sense of humor and its an acquired taste. He definitely has vulnerable and sarcastic moments like all of us. His intellect and observations are very deep. I hope this helps give you insight on who he seems to be as a whole. I want to thank you for listening, subscribing and supporting the show. I am forever grateful.
