- Beryl becomes a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean. This is now the earliest Cat 5 on record, beating Hurricane Emily in 2005 (July 16th). Wind shear will begin to gradually weaken the storm later this week as it approaches the western Caribbean and Mexico.
It looks like it’ll stay in the southwestern Gulf by this weekend. I'm still not concerned about it right now, but as I always say, we’ll watch it until it disappears.

I’m surprised they didn’t mention that all the models are uncertain about where Beryl will go after Jamaica and Cayman Islands
right? especially when the new models do take it to texas and louisana. always be prepared and tell your audience to always monitor it. that curve it makes looks sharp so who will know

The two most famous and accurate models have it making landfall in Jamaica as a category 3 hurricane.

Still worth keeping an eye on it, the Icon has it recurving towards Louisiana, granted it is outside of the 5 day window where I would consider it reliable, but I wouldn't discount it until we see if and/or where it lands on the Yucatan.

When they first were predicting they said it would get to cat 2 and then lose steam. Now it’s at 5.
That's because the NWS is lazy as hell and didn't think to question their own models. This isn't surprising at all if you knew how hot the waters are in the Atlantic Ocean. This year that water is VERY hot.
One thing we know is that they dont know, specially this far out, the track and models keep curving towards the Gulf Coast
@@angrydragon4574 I don’t think it’s one weather service everyone is using. Meteorologists use many different sources and the spaghetti models are from all different models. Usually they are very close. They got the path right but the category was way off on this one. The models should know the water temps.

I went through through a category 5 in 2002 in Jamaica. It was scary... a tree about 15 feet was just cruising like a bird through the air.
There wasn't a Category 5 hurricane 2002
There is also no storms that made landfall as a Cat 5 in Jamaica

Cold wind and currents prevent it from getting stronger and helps it weaken but if that cold goes away which for the love of god hopefully it doesn’t go away then maybe it will stay very strong. It also has to depend on sea temperatures. Hope this helps.

Wind share cannot affect that amount. Because this is a powerful hurricane. I think it will be Category 3 or 4 on Sunday. And High Pressure will move to Florida. System ( Hurricane) will go North or Northwest. Will Effect, Texas and East Louisiana.

Yes, please do "talk about the heat"! But, also talk about how this multiple record breaking hurricane is not the last to do so. This is still only the early stages of the climate crisis. It might not be long from now before it becomes necessary to relocate residents of the Caribbean Islands because future Category 6 (Six!) hurricanes will erase humanly built structures. There will be little point in attempting to rebuild after such levels of destruction.
The primary cause for this current intensification is due to the extreme temperatures of the oceans. Hurricanes are maintained and intensified by the energy of the water. This is increasing yearly and is accelerating. This is going to become much worse in the near future.
We heard this after "Super Storm Sandy." If your answer is "More taxes" you may need to investigate who you take your information from. The Volcano in Santorini (Phira) blocked out the Sun for two years. Your perspective on how insignificant you are should worry you.
It's not just the Caribbean Islands where human settlements have a very uncertain future from more and stronger Hurricanes. The whole south-east of the USA will be one disaster area after another.

This is a powerful storm without a doubt, but I have a bit of a problem with the "1st ever" claims. We've only had the ability to know such information about storms like this for about 5 decades (or less). A mere century ago storms like this could have (and likely did) come and gone with almost no statistical data recorded or even known about them.
It is the first storm to be a category 5 in RECORDED history, because that's the assumption, of course in the 4 billion years of the planet's existence there was probably an April Category 5 superstorm

Ummmmmm whoever is writing the script for the lady reading it needs to study their history. It was on this date in 1900 that the deadliest natural disaster hit Galveston Texas. An estimated category five hurricane hit July 1, 1900 in Galveston Texas. So this is it the first category five hurricane this early in the season.
The Galveston hurricane was a Cat 4 and made landfall at September 8th
No...the 1900 Galveston Hurricane _formed_ on August 27, 1900, and dissipated on September 15, 1900. It hit Texas on September 8, or 9...and peaked as a category 4 hurricane.
